I've had a couple buys on Ebay that turned out to be scrappers and got at least half my money back(About all I could get back with return shipping) on most of them, but what's really disappointing is never noticing when one of your prized pins is probably a scrapper. :/ I got to looking at my Scar "I'm Surrounded by Idiots" pin and realized it had THREE spillover enamel areas and I can't believe I didn't notice it until today. I was humorously looking at the pin when I realized "surrounded" looks like it was covered up with a censor bar. Great. I have no idea how I missed that. Now I need to replace the pin, but I'm not sure I can trust Evilbay. >_< I guess I'm going to have to find some good pins and hope I can trade with a trusted trader.

What's been your biggest pin disappointment? Was it a scrapper? Was it scratched? Did it fall off or get stolen?

I know how you feel. Years ago I purchased this pin:

pin60292

Pin 60292: WDI - I.D. Badge Series 2 - Hat Box Ghost

I was super excited and happy when it came in. I didn't think anything of it until I looked it up on PinPics sometime later. Yep, there were fakes, and my pin was one of them. I was and still am super disappointed. Hopefully someday I'll be able to find a real one to add to my collection.

How rotten is that? :[ Replacing things like that always seems to coincide with no more pin money or not being able to find the pin at that moment, even when they were findable before.

my biggest disappointment recently has been the scrapper version of Pin 90771: 'Disney Cruise Line Mystery Set ' - Donald Duck & the 'UP' House

The paint just looks different then what it should look like. The Back of the pin is completely different then the others. IT just feels so fake. Luckily I realized I don't really like this pin at all so i might just throw it away. lol

Wow! They make scrappers of those already? Holy cow! That's a shame! I'm sorry... :( You'll get it eventually!
The biggest disappointment I have had....well...it hasn't been too bad, but I had bought these pins off of Ebay.
Pin 69846: WDW - Mystery Box Set - Disney's Character Bottle Caps - Chip and Dale
Pin 69782: WDW - Mystery Box Set - Disney's Character Bottle Caps - Cheshire Cat only
I really wanted to finish the whole set, so I got these, and I had bought some at Disney World, so I should have known sooner that they looked different. Two years later, I realize that they look different from the ones I bought from Disney... :(

I've had a few scrapers of cast member lanyards but thankfully I wasn't attached to them. My sister just signed up and was going through pinpics to add her traders turns out 90% of the pins she got where scrapers. She wasn't happy but we bought some pin lots off trusted members on the forum, so hopefully she will be able to trade soon.

Basically when I first got into pin trading in Disneyland. I did more researched. Joined pinpics. Joined DPF. And found out that most of my pins were scrappers. It made me T___T but now I know and am more cautious!

Scrapper ?

This is the first time I have posted or replyed to anything but this really bugs me. I went to the Mickey Circus Event at Disney World. The second board that I went to had a really neat looking stitch pin so I picked it. I thought I had gotten a really good pin until I got home and looked it up on pin pics. It is Pin 68256: DisneyShopping.com - Disney Favorites Series Stitch Pin . Then I turned it over and the back is silver. I assume that it is a scrapper. I am really disapointed as I try to always put good rack pins or better on the boards. Now I am going to look through all the other pins I got off the boards to see if others are scrap. :(

Hi DisneyNurse
First off Welcome to DPF!I heard there were scrappers on the boards at Mickeys Circus
and I guess the pickings was not too good either,I am sorry you got a scrapper

yeh, all i heard from folks was "wait to you see the boards, the boards the boards" i got about 10 trips and i did get me elephant set, which i wanted. I also got 2 scrappers, hiddenmickey GWP pins were flooding the boards..and then i did get 4 other decent pins....sigh BUT i did well trading, so win some loose some.
