DisneyStore Limited Edition 17" Dolls Discussion
Still hoping for Frozen Fever dolls as well, but really excited to see Hans ^_^ I agree that he should make for a very handsome doll.

Wow *-* I really hope that Hans will really come out this Friday. *-* I'm soooo excited now ^-^ And if he comes out I hope my Mom will be able to get one for me, while I'm at school. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this here (And if I'm not I'm soooo terribly sorry and please just ignore this question :/ ), but I wondered if you think that he will be very hard to get. Or if you know if the other surprise Villains I read of, were hard to get ? Thank you so much for any answer in advance. ^-^

Maybe if/when the LE 17" Tadashi and Baymax come out there will be a LE 17" Yokai to go along with it as a surprise release ;)

If anyone is somehow able to find out the item number for the LE wedding Cinderella and PM it to me I would be forever grateful. I'm obsessed with this movie merchandise and really want to make sure I dont miss out with such a small edition size. I know no one has it yet but I'm keep hoping that someone somehow gets it in advance.

Add me to the group that called their local Disney Store and was told only Cinderella Live doll is being released on Friday. The Hans mystery continues for me......

I've never been into male dolls so I'd be intrigued to see this alleged "special" edition of Hans. Also in a weird way since I'm pretty new to collecting, a little excited and terrified of a true "surprise" release and the fact that they're releasing a villain on Friday the 13th.

Hi, I just recently found out about the limited edition dolls (happened to go to my local disney store and the latest frozen dolls were there-so they are my first ones). I would like to buy a set of the last frozen ones also ( coronation elsa and snow gear anna), but don't know if the prices are over inflated and will come down in a few years, or if they will just go up more? Is it just the current frozen-craziness driving the price up, or is it what the dolls are "worth"? Just wanted some perspective from people who have been collecting dolls for a while since this is new to me. Would it be worthwhile to wait it out a few years?

Ultimately, I would like to have a limited edition frozen set for both my daughters, to give to them when they're older. I think the dolls are beautiful, and it would be nice for them to have them- since frozen was their first major disney/doll loves.

I have the exact same position on this subject as you. :) I'm a lot happier about collecting now that people seem to be a bit more open about the links and store codes and whatnot, because when I started and the hysteria over the Pink Aurora pre-order was in full swing none of the seasoned collectors that confirmed she'd be released in the first place and other details her posted any pictures, links or any tips to actually get her. Disney Pin Forum as a whole is much nicer than any of the group pages I'm with on FB in a lot of respects, but one of the top reasons is really that on this site people in the know aren't hesitant to let everyone else be in the know as well. :)

But that said, I don't really know how we could all theoretically keep scalpers in the dark about Hans, especially if they are all waiting to purchase the Cinderellas that morning anyway and he shows up on their screen as well. If people find out anything more about him I really really hope they're not shy about posting it, though it seems from a lot of the earlier posts people are already happy to let others know what's happening. :) But to me at least it seems better to let a large group of people get Hans (even if there's a few scalpers in the mix) then have everyone miss out because of a no-link/no-post issue.

Omg, I totally agree!! I may be a noob, but I already LOVE collecting the 17' LEs and LOVE this fan base and want to protect the integrity of collecting from these scalpers!!!!! I bought my Merida doll a month ago and decided I WILL NOT pay over $300 for a doll again!!!! And to think that wedding Cindy is ALREADY on pre-sale for more than a grand!?!?!? Craaaaazy!!

Anyone know if the LE Hans is an online exclusive or if stores will be getting an allotment as well? Also I'm guessing nothings out yet but, if and when it does will they put link/item number here?

Until it is confirmed officially by Disney no one knows 100% for sure if there actually is a Hans doll. Even if a CM said there is a Hans doll -- it still doesn't mean there is one. CMs have been known to give out incorrect information before. So no one here has anyway of knowing the item number of a doll that for all intents and purposes does not even exist at this moment. Even for dolls officially announced, such as the Cinderella dolls, there is not going to be a link or a known item number at this point. The best thing to do, unless you know a Disney employee who has insider knowledge and is willing to risk their job to release top secret information, is to be online during the release time and/or take a chance and wait in line at your local Disney Store on Friday morning.

I would like to know this too as I am new to collecting the LEs and think SG Anna and Cor Elsa are soooo Pretty! Does anyone think their price will ever go down on the secondary market?

ok, let's not have trial and selection for to find out who is a scalper or collector. besides, how would we prove that? a photo of a collection? i can take one off the local listing or google somewhere. and what even constitutes a collection? i can have a doll but i can still be a scalper.

i would imagine scalpers are resourceful and spend some time looking up information and such, so i'm sure some of the information we are relaying is not new to them.

finally, it's the hype. see the reaction for hans? while i don't agree with scalpers or like how their dolls could have been given out to collectors or that the market is sort of all weird and high end now (especially prices on ebay) but they are, for me, a product of the hype.

so long as they don't push me in line or be rude.

That is such a beautiful idea for your daughters!

I wish there was a concrete answer to your question, but I believe it's too hard to know given that this line is only a few years old as it is. I have seen the prices steadily increase for all of the dolls (even the unpopular ones) since I started back in 2012 and shows no signs of stopping. The Frozen craze in particular has seen prices skyrocket and I don't expect it to fade anytime soon. So on the one hand, yes the prices show zero signs of dropping - the longer the line goes for the more collectors get into it, the more popular previous releases become. On the other hand, depending on how long you're willing to wait, the line will presumably end and interest will inevitably drop. It's just hard to say if rarity will keep prices high regardless.

That wasn't very helpful, sorry :/

LOL @ all the next level hysteria! Good luck to everyone interested in this week's dolls.

I don't think the prices will go down on past dolls. There are peak times to avoid, like around new doll releases and Christmas, but generally speaking, once a doll reaches it's next level of value, it won't decrease again. Don't get me wrong, you can still find deals here and there. You just won't see those deals becoming a norm.

As more and more of these dolls end up with long-term collectors, fewer and fewer become available on the secondary market. It's possible the fad of these dolls might die, but it's less likely since Disney is a beloved brand and these dolls are really gorgeous.

I don't think the big ticket dolls will come back down no matter how out of fashion these dolls become (Alice, Snow, 2013 Elsa and Anna, Rapunzel, etc.)

I agree with you about the market being all weird... Like, for example, I want purple Rapunzel SO bad, but right now on eBay I saw her for around 900, right after that I saw someone wanting 1800. Wth!!! What's up with the huge price dif???? Does eBay even reflect the actual value of the LEs? I've heard that real collectors don't even buy there , but then one girl on Tumblr said she only trusts sellers on the bay. Sooooo....??????
