I have no problems with people selling or trading the pins that I zap them. I have no problem trading a pin that I was zapped, or even zapping it to someone else, if it fits their collection and is just in my traders. I would probably give the heads up if I were selling a pin that I had been zapped, though, because that would most likely be a more desirable, valuable pin, and I would want the person to know and not "hear it through the grapevine" and think I was ungrateful.

this is a good point too.... I have been zapped with something that i have then zapped on to someone else. Unlike "regifting" this is a positive thing to me.

As an example:: I was nominated for a very NICE zap around the end of 2012. The pin that was zapped to me was one on my wants list, I already had it, and at the time it was on my wants to be a trader, but the zap gift was incredible. **Merida on angus DSF** So what I did, instead of trading it, I put it into my zap mayhem program. The pin was used as a trade auction pin and the winning bid was ALL pins for the zap mayhem. I felt like it was the best way to make a LOT of people happy. :)

I have only been zapped a few times, but I like to keep them. Like David said if I already have it, then the one I was zapped is my keeper then I will use the other to trade. This happened once, I worked out a trade and the day before the trade arrived I was zapped with the same pin. I used the one I received as a trade to trade for something different in my collection. This is just me I feel honored to have received the zap therefore I keep it. I love to wear my pins so even if it doesn't fit my collection I will wear it with pride and honor. Again this is just me. When I send a zap I hope atleast the opening of the LBE brings a smile to their face. And if they use it to get a pin they really want then the pin I sent now made two people happy. The original person who now has a pin they really like and the person they traded it to. If they sell it I would hope they use the money to make them happy so still more cheer. As has been stated before once the person gets the pin it is theirs to do with what they please.

I've kept the majority of the pins I have been zapped with. They mean the world to me and I cannot bring myself to sell/trade them. My favorite zap is still the State Character pin (Sebastian/Maryland). I nearly cried when I opened the mailer. It was so unexpected and it is one of my favorite pins I own. Some of the pins I have been zapped I either traded for other pins or sold to get other pins I wanted/I needed money and I knew they would sell. I personally do not have a problem with people trading or selling their zaps. At the end of the day its your pin to do what you want with.

I am sure that there is somebody who disagrees with me. Please do not be afraid to post your opinion as well. I brought this up to talk about. I do understand how somebody might be upset if somebody didn't keep their present, but I would rather bring it out into the open then have anybody upset in private.

This is an open discussion so as long as it stays civil I will keep it open, I really do want all sides to discuss it.

But David!!!I agree with you! I remember our conversation we had, If I zap a person with a pin, And it ended up being something they would want to trade,I feel "well if I can help them get a pin with my zap, that they really wanted then in some way, I am connected to that trade and I feel good I helped them get something they would cherish, Yay!. Most of us have been put in a position where we need sell pins because we are in need of some cash to pay bills, I understand that and if my zap helps you get by till payday then I am happy. I zap because I enjoy seeing how happy it makes others and it makes me feel good too! I try to find stuff on the zapees wants or if I happen to have a pin I see on your siggy, I am very happy! if I have something you collect but not in your wants i'll zap it and hope you like it, I jst enjoy bringing a smile to someones face, when I am not zapping it's usually because I am out of traders or too broke to go buy some more lol, because I lovvvvve zapping! I wish I could do more,

I also do what you do, when I get a zap and I have that pin already I swap out the one I bought for the zapped one and either zap mine away or trade it, but I kept the one given, I love my zaps! I feel honored and blessed when I get zapped. It means the world to me, and in all 100% honesty I am spechless and touched beyond touchd! they mean the world to me! and I never know how to express how meaningful they are to me!

The only time I ever get my feelings hurt over zaps is when I send something and literally get no recognition that it was received, let alone a thank you. Sometimes I throw extra pins in with a trade, or an auction winning, or whatever. And sometimes the recipient will say "Oh hey I received the package, here's your feedback". But no thank-you. (I'm talking one-pin for one-pin trades, too, so it is odd that they don't notice?). I know some people get busy, but it really is hurtful when there is not even a mention of it, and they are posting on the forum constantly. I try to think that everyone is human, and sometimes things get tossed under the radar (and maybe I'm cursed to be the victim of this? Lol!). I don't dislike anyone for not thanking me, but it does sting a little at the moment it happens.

I am guilty of trying to trade one of my "zaps" I received (won it in one of the wonderful PrinceEric's free games! So sort of the same thing?). But when someone asked about it in the park, I was like, "NO SORRY NOT THAT ONE". I guess it tugged on my heart strings!! So for zaps I have received that don't belong in my major collections, I decided they are going to get their own special "display board of kindness"! That way every one has a home that doesn't belong somewhere else :) I try to not get rid of any of them, ever. They just mean to much, that someone took the time out of their day to think of you.

HOWEVER I agree that once it is in your hands, it is your choice what to do with it. For me, I decide to keep them. But for others, they may be able to use it to trade for a grail, or send it to a friend who is in need of cheering up, or something like that. Maybe they need to sell it for medical reasons or something, who knows!! You never are in a person's brain or their life, so its a little harsh to judge their character based on what they do with a tiny piece of metal! :)

David may be my soul brother as we see this issue so similarly.

As to the issue of selling a zap I personally think that it is 100% FINE. If I zap someone something no matter how big, small etc I am doing so as a gesture of kindness towards that person, not as a eternal memory to cherish between the two of us. Things happen, personal tastes/collections change. If someone needs money and they need to sell the zap I gave them in order to get some why would I be upset? If I had the cash to just send fat checks out to people instead of pins I would, I have sent cash/gift cards to more than one member as a zap because they I knew they needed it and I do not see a difference. I wish I could do more.

As to trading away zaps, again totally ok. For whatever reason a person decides that they want something else and can trade it for that thing why not? When you give gifts to people do you include a gift receipt so they can return or exchange it if they do not like it? I do.

As to the issue of zapping a zap to another person I think this one is actually the most awesome thing you can do. If for some reason you receive a pin that you know another member is lusting after and you are just so so in like with it PASS IT ON!!

Ultimately its good to be good. If you zap someone a pin its just that, their pin. Theirs to do with what they see fit and if your gift was sent with the true intention of making another person happy/feel good etc, you should be equally supportive of their decision/need to sell, trade it away or zap it off to the next deserving soul. Those are my three cents.

The very first time I zapped someone a pin from their wants, which was over three years ago, I remember feeling hurt when I saw it for sale later. Since then, I've changed how I feel about it. I do only zap people pins from their wants, but once I send it, it's no longer mine. It's yours to do with as you see fit.

ive been struggling a bit financially so I haven't been able to zap as much, but hope to start up again. I'm going to have to sell some of my traders to pay a bill and there's a good chance that there may be a zap on there. I truly hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings. Every zap received has touched my heart because of the act. Some zaps, like a recent one from Judy, so deeply moved me that even tho it fits none of my collections, I will NEVER trade, sell, or give it away. I now wish I'd thought to have a zap collection! Terrific idea!

if I've zapped you a pin and it doesn't fit your collection or you need the money or feel it should belong with someone else, you won't hurt my feelings. I've derived great joy from zapping you.

David, your kindness to me, my daughter and so many others here is amazing. Knowing that there are people like you restores my faith when it flags due to the cruelty I see every day in the world and so much greediness even here in the pin world. I hope you know how much you are appreciated!

I've received some lovely zaps over the last year, most, if not all, I have kept. Admittedly some are on my traders list but they're only there in case they help me get something I want even more. I do feel slightly guilty having them on my traders list but sounds from the general tone of this thread that it's ok to do it. Unless I was absolutely desperate I wouldn't sell a zap, but would re-zap to someone else if the opportunity arose. I would be a little upset if I zapped someone and they sold it, but not if they traded or re-zapped it.

Its funny, and i know im not the only one....i can look through my vast collection and remember almost everysingle ZAP and who gave it to me. small HM to super LE HTF! i love them all. I can also remember a large amount of my pins and who traded the pin to me, or if i won it in an auction--This is truly a sick obsession.

Mostly i love re-zapping. That pin has double the love and good Karma.

Thats the exact same as me. Even when I was on Dizpins, through out the years, every single zap that I have given out, has never had a thankyou thread because of it. Its kinda hurts in a way, because its not that im begging people to post that I was nice, but would be nice for others to see that I am also in the zapping business when I do trades and are just as nice as everyone else!

And on the topic on zaps, I believe that once the pin is in someone else's hands its now there pin. they can trade it if they like. The only problem that I would slightly have is that if they was to sell it. In my opinion, if I have gifted someone with a zap, I have zapped them a item. And it is kind of off if they then sell it and get money. But then as I said, the pin is no longer mine then they can do what they want with it :)
