Getting tired of pinpics...
I generally don't trade OE for OE unless it's part of a bigger trade. I also don't respond to lopsided requests. If they can't take the time to look at their outgoing trades and realize it's bogus then I don't need to take the time to email them back.

I have had pretty good luck lately. I am mostly after older Auctions and Shopping Tinker Bells and Princesses and my newer DSF stuff has been trading well. I am pretty much dead in the water on my marquee search and the PTD's are getting slow. I rarely get a response back but I keep sending it out. 1 in 100 is fine with me. If everyone accepted I'd have to open up a business account at USPS.

Just keep going. And remember that the time and effort and $2 to ship an OE pin often deters people from trading OE for OE or hidden mickey for hidden mickey.

This may not be a popular opinion... but if you do not respond to the requests sent to you... WHY can you EXPECT someone else to respond. Not everyone is like that.. and i trade a lot over pinpics.. in fact... several of my trades find out i am on here... and we have a blast! Please .. if you offer something that is unfair.. maybe a 2nd look. I know i offer stuff that is a bit unfair sometimes.. and OFTEN.. when they respond back.. they tell me.. no.. but they would like to trade 2 other pins for it and they already got the pin i offered.

I totally agree that we should have a purge for pinpics.. maybe if you are not active in 2 months.. it changes your account to inactive and takes your trades out of the T/W equation...and puts them out of the offers as well. It would definitely update who is REALLY trading or has the pins for trade and who doesnt'

This idea would help.. except for those who place ALL their pins on trades and dont trade.. but just collect .. i get frustrated with those who do this. i have no issue with you collecting.. but take the pins out of your trades if you will NEVER trade them.

Hope not to upset anyone.. just my opinions..
.................and if anyone wants to trade.. i am always willing to trade fairly... and if i really want it.. over trade from my TRADE list.

Pinpics trade assistant is a fickle friend. Many, many of the TR's I get via email are from people who literally, just checkmark every box, regardless of fairness. They obviously give no thought to the requests they are sending. It has turned me off of the pinpics trade requests honestly. And I am recently, very guilty of not even LOOKING let along responding to most of them.

I tried to go in and turn off my TA so that I would not recieve any for a while but i couldn't figure out how. I used to be an avid pinpic TA user. But my life is just to hectic right now.

Advice for those using it....
  1. ONLY send t-requests once a week.
  2. Try not to send the same requests to the same people over and over.
  3. Always include a note in the "comment" area that says something like, "counter offers appreciated"

I don't respond to trade requests unless I am going to make the trade. I also list my e-mail address on there publicly, so if someone really really really wants a pin from me, they can just email me a real email with real guidelines instead of using the trade assistant which tends to leave you with a lot of assumptions about what exactly is going to happen with the trade, which is why people get so disappointed and confused about what they are sending out and what is being accepted, I think. I also just e-mail people who list their addresses if I want the pin that badly. I've finalized a trade that way about 75% of the time I reach out like that.

You can create a rule in Hotmail so that they filter certain emails to your inbox. For example, a rule that puts all emails with subject pin pics request to your inbox.

I look at every trade request that comes each day but I accept maybe .01% of them. The ones I send out maybe 5% email back. Of that 5% I'd say 70% are no's, 10% are yes's, other 20% are counter offers. It's like dating and fishing. You have to fish for a while till you get a bite. Takes 1 in 100 but that 1 just might be a great trade. I find it easier to trade with people once I have already traded with them. I try my best to remember trades. Try to recall if it as fair or in their favor. If it always leans in their favor then I get turned off for further trading.

It's gonna be tough for International traders now though. The price of shipping as gone way up and now I'm going to really think hard about what I need from UK/DLRP. Haven't found anyone in Japan/Hong Kong to trade with yet. I think most of those traders have pinpals already.

I kind of like using PinPics because you can go in without knowing the person before hand to make an offer. I haven't gotten any trade offers here but I have sent out a few here via PM and wasn't as lucky as I have been on PinPics.

I am new. Pretty sure that I have sent some not so hot trades to people trying to figure it out. lol I have actually had some decent luck with trades. I have also done like someone else said asked about another pin, if it wasn't one I really wanted. I am open to people asking me too. It certainly doesn't hurt.

I did have one question. Is it okay to send the same pin to several people. My thoughts are you don't know who is going to respond. I did that yesterday with a newer pin. I got like 7 offers. I was shocked. I felt bad telling people no. But I picked the best one for me.

You can send the same pin out. But then you have a choice. Accept the first response, or give it a few hours to see if someone else accepts. I have often had a good trade request come along, only to find out someone else accepted before me. Eventhough I'd be willing to add to it probably.

I don't tend to get very many trade requests .... It's probably because I don't have a lot of wants and a lot of my traders are less popular collections/characters even though they are mostly LE's. Most of the time I dont hear back from my requests but I always try to answer the requests I get. I also have a few pins on your wants list but you don't have any from mine

I try to respond to every request I recieve out of politeness, but I've been getting a request for a pin from the same person at least four or five times in the past week with no comment and I'm completely uninterested in responding now. I feel like there needs to be a limit on requests in a short time frame to another user, this is getting ridiculous.

Another question how do u know who ur sending them out to. It just gives u a pik list and I check them off. I could totally be one of those people annoying the crap out of someone.

Hanging my head in newbie shame. Lol

Once you've sent out your requests ... click the "Click here to view your current pending trade requests" link to see who its going out to. Then you can delete the ones that have already declined.

I got a better one than that !

I received a trade request, replied yes I accept and then got a reply saying no thanks !

They sent out the trade !

That is the one I hate the most.

One thing I have noticed it that most people think they are making fair offers, but I receive a bunch that are not fair in my eyes. I don't usually reply to those. My mom always told me if I don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. I have a bunch of older princess pins that I get a lot of requests on. The thing people sometimes forget is they are older and because of that are harder to get then some new pins with similar wants/trade ratios.

OK, time to play Devil's Advocate, as I had a situation come up today and I think that everyone needs to look at both sides of the coin here

I sent out requests last night for one of my POMHs, and I would like to think I sent fair requests.

Someone responded to one, and wanted to know the scene I had. As I was willing to accept the trade if they were willing, I sent them the picture and am waiting on a response.

About an hour later, I get a response that went into my spam folder on Gmail, and then a second e-mail from the same person about 4 hours later asking again if I was going to accept their offer. I politely told them:

Thank you, but I think I have a trade worked out for the POMH. If it falls through, I can let you know.

And they responded, frustrated not with me per se but the situation referenced in this thread, which I had actually read last night and was not going to post, but now thought I might offer some pearls of wisdom I have learned in the 3 years of pin trading (not an expert by any means)

1) This is a hobby. It is meant to be fun! Not stressful. Once it is stress, it is not a hobby anymore

2) You might want to see if your replies are going to the Spam Filters of people. The person who responded second had their initial response to my TA get sent to my GMail Spam for some reason. That might be why you are not getting replies.

3) You should consider trying to respond earlier in the day if possible. I know I try to respond around 7:30-8:00 AM EST to requests I get, and sometimes I even miss out. That is the nature of the of this hobby sometimes, the early bird gets the pin.

The funny thing is, I have sent requests to some of people in this thread, never heard back; I have sent PMs to people who are consistently active on the site, and never heard back; and you know, I do not get upset or stressed, I just move on and try to trade with someone else.

Just my 2 cents

I have done many successful trades through pinpics but I would find it easier if there was an option to turn TA off as sometimes I've been in a position where I'm looking for a particular pin, and would justvlikecto be able to contact the owner and ask if there's anything they'd like to trade for rather than checking a box of pins listed which I know would not necessarily be fair on them or myself......I have to say I've not done any trades on there in a while, but receive at least a couple of requests a day....mainly they're very one sided though, but I always reply to the,, even it's just a no. At least they know that way. If anyone wants to trade ,plz pm me!!!

OH MY GOSH.....i have been trading for a while on pinpics...and i NEVER knew this, i am positive i have asked the same person to trade their pin, but have offered different pins of mine. I never re-offer the same trader of mine, i ask as i log traders in, so it go's in wave when i get pins. I dont know why people get all bent out shape on uneven trades and such. Maybe the person is new to trading and has no idea. This happened to me, and im sure many made out off my ignorance. I kinda knew what an LE was but i had no idea about DSF pins and that they are primaritly all le 300 and people sleep in the alley for them or what pins are more popular bla bla bla --so try and not take it personal. I will agree that it now has ben 1 year since pinpics was taken over, and i kinda thought we'd seeimprovments by now. I would like when you type a word and mis spell it yuo get something??? ex. snowwhite (not snow white) you get nothing. And i think inactive accounts over say 3 mo. get pulled from TA and you have to re activate if you wnna useit.

I think the option to turn off TA exists. I haven't done it, however.

Here's how you turn off TA:

- Click on My Pin Pics

- Click on Click here to edit your collection AND your trades/wants (2nd choice from the top)

- You'll now see a box to click for Do NOT include me in the Trade Assistant

Some people work crazy hours, and cannot just reply right away, not everyone has a computer or smartphone at hand, What would be better is if...say you have multiple trade requests out, wait till the end of the day and see how many have responded then choose which one you want to accept, giving everyone a chance, mabey that would be better. and if your on the east coast no matter how early one on the west coast responds there still is the huge time gap another reason to mabey wait to see who responds with thier yes'es or no thank you's
