The last few times that I've looked at my Wants list, I've ended up taking a bunch of pins off it because I decided that I no longer wanted them. I was just wondering if anyone else did this? And if so, how often do you do this Wants list cull?

With this in mind, on a smaller scale, do you ever get trade offers for pins off your Wants list that you're then unsure if you really want? I've had a few offers recently for the same pin, and I've ended up turning them down. Not because the offer wasn't fair, but because I'm not 100% sure if I want that pin anymore. Does that make sense?
 
Ha, I do this all the time. I'm on Pinpics every day, truthfully, looking over my wants, trying to think if I really want or need this or that pin or if I just think it's pretty. My wants list when I started out was almost something like nine pages long, I did get it down to two at one point but now it's back to three so I average wanting somewhere around two hundred, two hundred and thirty pins at any given time.

Today I plan on looking over them again, looking at the wants/trades ratios and deciding if I need certain pins again. I can get indecisive and stubborn at times. :p
 
My wants list changes all the time. I take pins off and add pins on a whim. A lot of the pins on my wants I know I'll probably never get due to the edition size or whatnot but I keep them on there as a challenge. I do remove pins a lot because after looking at the picture, it looks a lot like another pin I already own or it's just plain hideous.
 
We don't mess with our wants. We've had the same 80+ wants up for about the past 2 years. We haven't made a PP trade since November of last year, not because we don't want to but because we just haven't had a request. We quit sending requests due to lack of response. Thank goodness for DPF, it's been our only sanctuary for PT for quite some time...
 
I do this all the time!
I go through pinpics and see a pin I like, then suddenly start to add all the pins from the theme. However about a week later I go on there, and delete them all and are like urgh why did I put this on my wants?

I have had some on there about 4 years, but there are others that havent even lasted 4 days lol
 
I've done a couple major overhauls, but some pins never move from there until I obtain them. :)

But sometimes, after staring at a pin for so long, I just get sick of seeing it, so I go, "Welp, I guess I didn't want it that bad after all..."

What I hate more is finally getting something on your Wants (like, from an online trade or eBay), and when you finally see it in person, you're like, "...oh." I've had to turn around and get rid of a few of them after that. Depressing.
 
Absolutely do this too! And like Judy, my wants list is me + 3 of my kids. So I have gotten into trouble deleting pins from wants ("why would I *EVER* put this ugly thing on the list??!!"_) when it turned out my daughter wanted it. ;)

And I have also had the experience of getting a pin and being let down too, Abyssinian! But then sometimes I get one and it's even better than I thought, so it evens out. :)
 
We just did this the other day. My girl was like "We dont need all of these. I'm going to get rid of some" an so she did. Its something all traders come to realize at some point. We don't need all of these.
 
I have change my trades based on getting more focused on what I am really interested in. And of course, it grows every time I see a new pin that looks really cool.
 
I have decided to collect only Dated WDW Cinderella Castle pins, Princess series pins, Epcot country Mickey Ears and some stitch pins. It makes it easy to look for my wants but I never update my trades to see who I can trade with. It is a work in progress
 
I have several pins that go onto and then off of my wants list regularly. I have stopped and started collecting Thumper 3x in 2 years. And while I say that I no longer collect Tinker Bell, somehow I keep adding her to my wants.

I'm VERY fickle! First I started off with pins, now I'm leaning more toward Vinylmations. I do still love Figment pins, which I just got into. I have so much stuff I don't know what to do with it all!
 
Yes and yes. I've widdled down my wants several times but I'm still at like 15-20 pages and I want to be down to like 5. I'm really rethinking selling off some of my collections just because I feel like it's getting overwhelming. It's just so hard when you there are so many cute ones and they all make me happy.
 
I should add to that...since I'm pretty serious about selling off some of my collection feel free to take a look and make an offer, for trade or purchase. I however will not be getting rid of any of my Alice, non-Tink fairy, Dressed As, Evil Queen or cat pins, well naughty cats (ie Lucifer, Si & Am, Figaro). I'm sure there are others that I don't want to get rid of but no other characters across the board like those ones.
 
LOL, reading all these posts definately makes me feel better about me taking stuff off my Wants. My Wants used to be around 400, now they're down to just 233. I wouldn't stop collecting any of my current themes entirely, but I figure there's no harm in just wanting less pins from each theme.
 
my wants gave always been low and Ive only removed any pins from my wants once when I decided on what I was going to focus on. other than that then my wants only get changed when im removing pins cause I got them lol
 
My wants list has basically been the same for at least 5 years and I only add newer pins to the list. I've just really cut back on what i want and now I just want to finish off my Alice collection.
 
I have certain pins that will always been on my wants until I get them someday(the last 4 beloved tales I need, designer princess, tangled) but I update the rest of my wants often a couple times a week at the least. I don't just take pins off, I add pins I never thought I would want. A perfect example is this pin:

In a recent thread, I totally bashed this pin saying it was weird and that I did not like it. Well, it grew on me and I ended up on a mad hunt to get this pin(as many of you may know from the many frantic trade requests I sent for it).

So, yes, I am very fickle. Like masamune said, occassionally I will get a trade request for a pin and think, no I don't think I would want to give that pin for it. Then, I will decide later that I really don't even want it that much so i take it off my list completely.
