Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
Oh my gosh, that's stunning! Must have her...

this is absolutely beautiful. i want one!

Love the ariel doll! Will definately have to try and get it if it comes out especially since I missed the original designer doll release. For now I am just going to have to TRY to be patient but.......I waaaaant it!

YES! Just what I was wishing for! I'm so glad they designed an original look and I couldn't be happier for how it turned out! I was scarred we were going to get a Fancy Ariel in her mermaid costume or a detailed Pink dress. But this is simply perfect! Thanks so much for sharing this with us, I couldn't imagine having to wait a year to have a sneak peak at this soon to be Master piece! Hopefully we will get a LE Ursula as well, both will be a most buy in my list ^.^ !

I guess I may be the only one who is a bit unsure of the sketch. I have a hard time with it because all of the other 17 inch dolls were slightly embellished versions of how they look in the films. To me, while it is pretty, is more designer like. I could be wrong, but I don't see why they'd do Ariel in something that she didn't even wear in the film when that's what they've done with all the others.

in fact, it's like Cinderella, she is based on her new look. It's the green dress we see on the new Ariel look . A bit fancier. So I think it is going to be that way now, the new Le princess will be based from their new look

hum... I 'm going to see what she has to say. Usually she is a very reliable source. I mean she had the picture of calhoun when it was only a rumor here.

I posted at the french forum with the link you gave. I'm a bit mad.. Because she stated it was "probably" what the Le will look like and was given from her/his friend who is working at the disney merchandising section... and the fact she got it right for calhoun. Waiting now for her answer

Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who like to appear that they are on the 'inside' and know more than everyone else, when in fact they don't. The Calhoun stuff appeared a while before the official announcement because some of the stores that had her were showing her to customers. From what I remember it wasn't that long before her official release. I don't think she can dispute that it isn't from Disney, but in my experience people like that will defend it even though you can prove they got it wrong.

I think with the Ariel LE doll, there are so many of us who want her, and are desperate to find any information we can -- which is why that sketch got so many in this thread excited. But I'll wait until there is something a bit more concrete and official before I get too happy

I was thinking these exact thoughts. All of the other LE 17" dolls have had outfits that are similar or "inspired" by clothes they have worn in their films. This aqua dress (while beautiful, and also used as part of Ariel's new "look") resembles nothing she wore in the movie. I would be kind-of sad if they didn't keep this trend going of using outfits that were actually worn in the film.

And I agree that this look is way too similar to the Designer Doll.

My only question is...if they don't put Ariel in her fin (which is obviously her original, "signature" look)...which outfit will they use? :anxious: I'm hoping for bride or pink dress with dinglehopper accessory...but I'm sure whatever they do will be awesome.

And since they have been releasing villain dolls as well...I am REALLY hoping for a Vanessa doll...I would almost be more excited for her than an Ariel doll!

It's probably just how I think, but I would assume polished concept art would be more complete like this http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/uu105/thecenterofthings/DP/winterpocahontas.jpg
That sketch was by one of the Mattel 1990s design team, she's freelance now and her work for Disney products for different companies is awesome.
I would love to have her design Ariel but that probably won't happen.

Seeing how LE Cinderella was closer to the current DP artwork, I seriously hope this isn't the case for Ariel - No green dress.
It's more likely to be wedding or the pink (or one with mermaid?) but I don't want a pink dress ariel, there's already a Singing doll to fill that gap.
I want a concept from the original sea foam dress, as described for Ariel emerging from the water (not worn in Parks) now that would be iconic.
Also Ariel's face needs a new sculpt! Her eyes are horribly small and it doesn't capture Ariel's wide smile at all.

A Vanessa doll is possible, all you need is a flesh toned version of Designer Ursula with long dark hair - in both outfits please - sorted, lol.

I'm personally hoping that the LE Ariel is in her blue/black dress with the big blue bow in her hair. This outfit in the picture is pretty, but it doesn't appeal to me that much. What if they would do a two pack of Ariel: one with her fins and one in a dress? That would be great! And a doll of Vanessa would be really cool, too, because it would be very unique.

What is this sketch of the Calhoun doll? I think I missed it on here. Also, I was on DisneyMovieRewards.com today and it says that you can pre-order Wreck-It Ralph until early March. So maybe there will be a pre-order for some more Wreck-It Ralph dolls in February?!

It would be really strange to have two Ariel dolls in one box in my opinion. But I can definitely see them releasing two separate versions of her!

I think that's be a great idea ! One pre order ariel and than a surprise release at the DVDs release with her as a mermaid!!! More like shut and take my money Disney lol
