Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
Gentle reminder to any new members that there is a great informative thread pinned to the top of the "Other Collectibles" page with great info on pricing and all you need to know about releases in general!

To Graemecookie

I'm getting annoyed by this, I'm getting really sick of this.

Today you just tried to sell the LE Elsa for £850 to me, and i have told you a couple of times by now that it's to much money for just one doll, and would you youself buy a doll for that price? And beside that you just sold her a few days ago. How much dolls do you even have or even better, how about that video you have on Youtube where you say you are going to keep your dolls (the LE Elsa doll that you are now trying to sell for £850) for the future and for your kids to have one day. That's sick man.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5id9DHEpO9U here is the video you maded, i think it's not acceptable to do things like this. And certainly not here on DPF.

I can give you an advice, dont buy those dolls off when you are just going to resell them for a ridiculously high price. You ruin our change for us that are genuine collectors and who really wants them.

I agree its not fair for collectors not able to get them at retail price. Its the same with concert tickets and other merchandise.

Would be nice if loyal fans and collectors had priority though somehow

That would be ace Shifty!!! I'd love that!!! something for the fans.

Yeah like a membership club with exclusive items or early entry to shops.

I'm not disputing who is and isn't a collector here though but it is sad for those who can't afford much higher prices than retail but I guess it's first come first served

ok newbie just do one. I am a sick man! Don't think so! I am getting annoyed of u . U don't think it's acceptable to make a video ? Look stop looking to cause trouble. This was resolved a few posts earlier . Keep ur nose out and stop stirring ! How old are u! 8 ?
Just stop

In all the hype of Frozen i just want to remind collectors out there that deals do come up and prices do fluctuate. Before Elsa prices usually grew steady, her popularity is astronomical, but it is the exception and not the rule. With any older doll you want - look at sold eBay postings, decide what is a fair price, and wait for it. You can get your grail dolls for a fair price if you are patient and well informed. Welcome to all the new collectors, despite the drama of Frozen, doll collecting can be quite fun and all of us here at the forum are here to share the ride

LOL, scalpers would be ALL OVER that membership.

Okay, I can see this thread becoming very heated, so let's all keep in mind that scalping is just a part of life. We make choices to pay inflated prices on the secondary market; no one is forcing us to do it. I know we all WANT every doll we love for a great price, but that's not reality. There are a few of the LE dolls I love and wish I could have, but I probably won't own them because I can't justify the prices.

However, thanks to scalpers, there's a chance I COULD own them if I ever decided to bite the bullet. If it was ONLY collectors getting their hands on the dolls, we would never see them pop up on the secondary market. In that sense, scalpers actually keep prices down (but not always). For example, when Anna and Elsa were first being sold by scalpers, they were going for $200-$350. It was only these last couple months that the prices spiked like crazy, because most scalpers have run out of the supply (it's the reason Snow White is so expensive; she sold to mostly collectors).

I know I'm digressing from my last post, but I'm worried we're about to flame off on here. I hate that the dolls sell so fast from the store because people want to flip them for a profit right away, but then in some cases those dolls will be cheaper later on if scalpers flood the market with them.

I'm pretty sure this post made no sense... Sorry about that!

Girl, I totally feel you. When I asked to buy his doll, I was told a certain amount that at the time I didn't have the funds for so I respectfully refused but he told me to get back to him saying I wouldn't find the LE Elsa doll for a better price. When I did get back to him about her a couple of weeks later, he tripled the price after I offered the price he had initially told me he would sell her for. His reasoning for the increase was that the price had risen in the interim period between messages; however, when I looked at the sold eBay listings from the first time I contacted him to the second time, the prices had stayed the same. This really irked me so I just gave up. It's thanks to these people that any chance of ever getting this doll have gone completely out the window.

LadyRoselle, it is immense fun! Especially to see other peoples dolls. May have come to it a little late but I love coming on board nevertheless. The 17" dolls, and the designer dolls, are stunning. Its great to see what the designers come-up with and how they reflect the movies themselves. I get the sense the prices are a tiny bit overheated at the moment (Maybe down to the success of Frozen). Its been soooooo much fun.

Yes Quasimodo it made sense..... I think haha. No ur right I don't think i will be able to ever get Snow White and Alice. But u r right if the scalpers did not buy they would never be on sale for people who missed or started there collection late like myself . But am very excited about the new release

Glad to hear it! Just wait for doll season, it is going to be crazy, so much pretty dollys coming our way, there will be fresh news every week it seems like. Though Disney is doing a better job with releases so far this year. We have several long doll droughts last year, and them boom! doll overload, LOL. As for prices, spring to early summer has historically been the best time to buy older dolls, I suspect that starting in April we will see prices calm a bit.

Thank you LadyR. People are lovely here. But I must ask...doll season? That sounds amazing! Ha! I can't wait!

I am not sure whether its related here but I've seen the term "surprise dolls" pop up on this forum. Could that mean a Kida doll just happens to be lurking without us knowing for instance or do they tend to be related to the films released on the given year? So this year one could guess it could be maybe Frozen, Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent or The Big Hero 6?

LOL, at one point there were surprise dolls. Now they leak way before they could be called a surprise. I'm sure there's a lot more info about that in the LE doll info thread.

Usually surprise dolls happen with an event like a new film or an anniversary. I am sorry to say this, but I don't think a Kida Limited will ever be made, Disney seems to be just pushing that era under the rug! I'd adore a Megara doll, and Melody Ariel's daughter, but if Disney doesn't think they will sell they won't make them (though a Kida, Jessica Rabbit, Megara, and Jane would totally sell Disney I know you read this!).

I'd say your predictions for this year are spot on, though we don't know if there will be separate dolls for Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty. I certainly hope so. Also, people are wondering if there will be a Phillip to go with Aurora, I really hope Disney does end up making a Phillip, though I am not often into boy dolls. I suppose he would be in his final waltz outfit if the Designer Couple Philip is in his woodsman getup. It is going to be an exciting year for doll releases, though I suspect that nothing will come near Frozen in terms of popularity and rarity.

Yes! PLEASE Disney make a Jane doll

LOL, I love that comment seeing your signature and avatar! When is Tarzan having an anniversary I wonder, they really should do something for it.
Yeah, but they didn't do anything for Mulan's anniversary and at least she's among the princesses.

True, she really does deserve a LE 17". Though the rumor is she will be in the couples this year, so they will probably make her eventually. Overall though, Mulan does get a lot of merchandise compared to other films of her era, as many have lamented we see nothing for Megara, Jane, and Kida.
