Before I went to Vegas I got a pinpics request for my DLP Dreams Cheshire pin for Pin 94556: DLP - Disney Princesses Starter Kit (Lanyard and Pins) which is on my wants.

After agreeing and sending my address, the person who sent the request emailed me saying they were trading on behalf of their friend who doesn't have an email address. I was a bit skeptical of this and politely declined saying I'd rather do a straight forward trade rather than going through a middle man. Well they got abusive. Really nasty about me being British and we Brits do this all the time I was gob smacked. I explained again why I was wary of trading through a middle man and he got more abusive
He then said that if I wanted he would get his friend to post the lanyard set first and once I received it I could send my pin to her. I explained I was going on holiday and he said it would be fine. I agreed to the trade as I was nervous as this guy already had my address from when I was under the impression I was trading with him.

Well I got home from Vegas yesterday and here was the lanyard and pins. I opened them up and it the pins do not look good quality at all. Rapunzel has yellow paint on her hand and both her and Ariel have extra bits on metal on them Ive checked pin pics and I can't see any scrapper warnings.

And now the 'friend' has emailed me! The friend who had no email address!! Saying she knows I've received my pins at the weekend and where was her pin? I emailed her back saying that I had told her friend I was away on holiday and that I am only just home. I explained my concerns about the pins and she said well send them back. She is not even concerned about the state of them :/

I really want these pins. I'm not sure what to do.

Sorry for the long post jut had to get that off my chest.

Sarah xx

If I'd known I would have been happy to buy these for you straight from Paris I can't believe how rude people can be these days, it's so disguisting

If I were you and weren't happy, I would send them back. There are always going to be other ways of getting the pins you want.
It seems to me that you were pressured into trading with them. Hope you sort everything out

Yeah I kinda was. I'm just worried cos this guy was quite abusive towards me and he had my address so I ended up feeling I had to make the trade

send them back , if you dont like the quality or you are hesitant, and the original trader now has email, inform them that you are unhappy with the trade and return them,
if the first emailer is here in the us, then I wouldnt sweat it,no one is gonna hop on a plane and fly to the UK over a lanyard and pin set,<unless they are uber holy grails.>
Let them talk all the smack they want, we know the Uk traders are way cool and rock the mouse house, who cares what they think, and if they are being heavy handed<pressuring you> that should be all the incentive you need to say, no thank you and RUN away, dont walk , Run from someone this uncouth and abusive<hey I got to use uncouth, not often you can slip one of those in!>
feel better and send them back, just my unhumble opinion.

They are from France. I have emailed her saying I will send the princesses back. Bah the search is on again. Thanks guys.

I am glad you are sending them back. Be sure to maybe report them to pinpics for the way they spoke to you? That is unacceptable. I am sorry you had such a nasty experience! I hope you can work out a trade for the pins soon!

Yeah I kinda was. I'm just worried cos this guy was quite abusive towards me and he had my address so I ended up feeling I had to make the trade

So you felt like you had to make the trade because you feared for your safety?? That is beyond awful! I know you can report a bad trader to Pin Pics but will they do anything about abusive or threatening language? If the pins have flaws they should have disclosed that before trading so I would just let them know you are sending them back and you no longer wish to trade. Sorry that happened to you.

I still have my pin yeah as the guy said she would send them first but she seemed unaware of this! It is packed up and ready to go. She seems okay with me sending them back but I am just worried about the guy emailing me when he finds out. I will check if I still have the emails but I think I deleted them as my mum goes on my iPad and I didn't want her to see them.

I'd send them back and forward the nasty emails to a pinpics mod. If the nasty one emails you, I would suggest a polite response to say that you have resolved the issue with the trader, and that the matter is closed as far as you are concerned. I would then ignore any further communications from him.

Glad you are sending them back! Never keep pins that are such poor quality, if you can help it. There is NO ROOM for bullying in pin trading!

Communication is always the key. I don't know if you asked up front about the condition of the pins, but it's always wise to do so and any other concerns. It saves on postage and problems like this. I'm glad you're sending them back.

I can't find the nastiest email. :/ but I do have one where he calls me stupid and crazy then replies with 'lool' when I say I don't appreciate being spoken to like that.

here's my question..... not to fuel any fires BUT..... first, I agree, don't trade just because you feel pressured to do so (or, heaven forbid, because you are actually frightened of someone!). but sometimes we (most of us) can get a bit pushy over pins. letting them send first was definitely appropriate. you are unhappy with the quality of what you got. do you/we really think these are FAKE or was this particular product just bad? in either case - but, I guess, especially the first - isn't it appropriate to ask the sender to pay return postage? if it's just me, that I don't like what I got but the other trader (or seller) is "innocent," then I'll pay. but if I get scammed (basically) then why should I be out anything - including return postage? <<slithering back into lurk mode>>

Insults and abuse are never acceptable, regardless of the situation. If you had the emails (save those you do), keep them and if you made this trade through PinPics, contact them and forward them the e-mails you do have. Bev does not approve of such behaviour and helping them keep track of such individuals can be a good thing. If it is a repetitive behaviour, they likely will take some action against the individual perpetrating it, but usually only if the deal was initiated through PinPics. Glad you got them to send first or it's very likely you'd have never seen your pin again and you would be stuck with what you received, and if you had tried to cancel the deal and have both sides returned, I'd bet on the fact that only you would have returned them.

Don't limit yourself to DPF. Use the DizPins reference to check and see if the other party has a list of done deals. There are a ton of good people there too that haven't found their way here. (I was one of those until the end of last year)

Pins are on their way back to France. A lovely person from Pinpics got in touch and helped me out. The guy has been banned He mailed me again this morning though :/ he said I am his 'only worst case' gah. I've asked him to leave me alone.

Hi, I'm glad to hear that youve resolved this.

I just wanted to add, that I have also seen a bad set of these pins. I am after just the Rapunzel pin from this set, so have been keeping on eye on Ebay. There is a seller from France that listed the Rapunzel pin which had extra metal on the sides and there was actually quite a deep hole in her foot. So I did wonder myself if this set had been scrappered.
