I have to pay fees when I use a bank account too, although the percentage charged is much lower. It might be different if you actually have a balance on Paypal? (I've never been a seller so I've never had a balance to use.)

I think you might be paying "cross border" fees. Even if it is gift, when you send $$ outside your country, Paypal charges you a really small amount. I pay fees when I am sending $$ to UK, even when it is labelled as "gift".

Best of luck Aura, I hope that things settle down in a civil & amicable way for both parties. We can always hope :)

Thanks for the explanation! I don't make that many Paypal payments but when I do it's either from balance or bank account, so I've never run into that. That clears things up for me!

ick. double ick. I agree with Hopemax, this defintely sounds and looks like another pin at some point beofre you got it, was rubbing against it with its back off. Now wether they noticed before hand or not is the question. a question we will never have the answer to, but judging by the replies you got and the defence you got it seems like they were aware. I would be mortified if i sold that pin and didnt notice and would bend over backwards to exchange and refund it. Now when the light is behind it , it does not look that bad and its a lovely pin....so idk why they dont take it back and keep it and send you theirs or something. Karma baby...its a *****.

As I do not want to take any sides with anyone involved regarding the sale or anyhing as such... I would like to state one thing about the BaTB Cells...

These were by far the worst damaged release of cells ever made... The two prior ones that had major issues... Finding Nemo... Well over 100 cells were installed upside down... Steamboat Willie... The backer cards all look like the were run over for days before the pins were put on... But when it came to the BaTB Release... There are more surface scratches then you can even imagine... 50% of you have cells that will photograph like this if you do not backlight the cell and use a flash... Try it, you will see what I mean... Cells that photograph great with backlight have tons of surface scratches on them... That being said... These are only pins and we all often cause ourselves too much stress over them... Be patient, get your refund and find another cell that perhaps even has a better frame...

Best of Luck...

I think when you hit $250-500 is when you have to link a bank account.

It's actually $10,000, so says my Paypal lol. My mom's only has $5 left to send before it doesn't work anymore. I had to open my own with my own card so I could buy pins! Lol. Desperation!
Though, I can't honestly believe I have sent $10,000 through Paypal O_O I mean, I'm a serious collector and all but goodness gracious that would be embarrassing

That must be the new amount. They forced me to do it YEARS ago, and I had sent less than $1000 at that time.

Now I have to go look at all my cells! I hope they're good :)

I'm not taking sides, but from what I have seen in the parks (WDW), the way many people carry their PODMs away from the register would make you shudder!! The CMs toss how ever many pins are purchased in one bag, not always, but it seems to be the norm instead of an exception (I always asked for a seperate bag for each pin). I can't remember what release, either Mulan or Lion King, one guy didn't get his passholder discount and brought back all 27, yes 27 pins..ALL LUMPED in ONE bag, to receive his discount. They DUMPED them on the counter, all on top of each other, re-rang the purchase, with the discount, and then proceeded to throw them all back in the bag together...all 27 pins!!! If they were for his collection, then I don't care, but if they were for sale for trade, then heaven help who got one from him!!!

I don't think I would ever purchase or trade for a PODM unless it was in person.

Also, so that everyone knows, the fee is from paypal, it's from using a credit card instead of funds on paypal or direct money taken from your bank account

It is a combo of this and cross-border fees. I have funds in my Paypal account and get charged fees each time since I am a Canuck and the majority of you are not! :)

So, I've returned the pin and it was delivered last Friday the 14th. I sent an email that day and got a response from "Sally" that she would not be home until Saturday so I said I'd wait until then to hear back from her.

Since Saturday, I have heard nothing back, despite sending an email every day since then asking for an update. "Sally" often responds from her phone so I don't know why I am not getting a response from her at all. I've asked for even any kind of response from her phone just so I could know that I'm not being ignored.

And so now I have no idea what to do next. I get it is the holidays and people might be busy, but when she wants to respond, her responses have always been lightning quick (times I've bumped this thread usually or when she was selling me the pin). She has an iPhone so its not like she isn't getting the emails or can't take 2 seconds to respond from her phone, so I'm pretty sure I'm just being ignored.

As of now, I'm out the money and the pin which is what I had feared given her attitude and language when dealing with me. Guess I'll give it another day or two until I start going after PayPal/my credit card company and leave negative feedback here. :(

Another avenue is using the Post Office's mail fraud division...this makes what she's doing a felony. That threat has worked 3 times for me for Pinpics trades. Hope it works out.

Update: received a $55 payment (not quite a refund but close enough) from Sally just now. Cost me ~$6 between shipping and fees but at least I've got most of it back.

Matter is closed as far as I'm concerned.

Sooo ... glad that you got this resolved. Sounds like I bad deal, but I'm glad it's over.

Now that we've gotten past that part, Am I the only one has had trouble reading this thread without singing ....

Whoa…oh…oh…oh…
Sally, whew, “That Girl”
Whoa…oh…oh…oh…
Sally, whew, “That Girl”

That-that-that-that-that girl
That-that-that-that-that-that-that girl
That-that-that-that-that-that-that-that-that-that-that-that-that-that girl (Sally)

Ok ... that's about as far as I'm comfortable with the copy and paste without running the risk of getting infracted. Carry on.
