Hello DPF,

I am really confused what is going on. I recently just hit my 800th post. I look today and it says I have 785 posts. I then look and it says I have 783 and now 780!

What is going on?

Hmm, they are deleting old threads now?!

EDIT: They definitely are. This morning, I had over 6000 posts, now I have a little over 5000 posts.

How can someone delete another persons posting unless it is someone with that authority. Could it be that DPF is cleaning house of the older threads and topics? Just a thought.

It has to be one of the administrators.

I think that is what they mean by "Local Fiend", i.e. the mod formerly known as Lucan444, LOL. I went from 1638 down to 1501 before this post.

It makes sense for someone to clean up old posts... it's like doing a cleanup of your email inbox.

I don't think anyone on DPF is going to want to go back and read a post about the upcoming Tangled movie that was posted in 2010. (Well, I hope no one wants to go back three years to read about a movie they've already seen 8 or 9 times. :lol

I agree. Deleting really old threads sounds like a pretty good idea, but it's definitely too bad that it alters out post count. It's fun to see the numbers rise.

*edit* Yup. My post count went down considerably as well.

They are cleaning of the Sales Thread section. So if you posted heavily in there, you'll probably see a drop in your post counts. Or, at least, that's what I heard.

I think in such a busy forum as this, very old threads could be deleted, old auctions / sales which have been closed and such. And it's not about the post count it's about all the fun

muhahahah!!!

yes my fellow DPFers, I the nefarious, the fiendly neighborhood mod, went a house cleaning in the sales forum, as was posted in my thread this am<see this thread,, http://disneypinforum.com/showthread.php?32408-Sales-threads-a-moment-of-your-time-please>

We had posted sales going back over two years still active in memory slowing down your access to the site, sales by members I know for a fact are not even here anymore, of course to be totat we had 196 pages of 26 entries a page, you do the math,
Now in all honesty our beleagued by new parenthood Bricklayer did a spectacular job of keeping up with post deleted by himself at users request, <back in those bleak days mods and admins could only close the threads, not like you whipersnappers got it now!!> but the users didnt request it and of course it fell to the backside for along time,

Well flash forward two whole years, sales go and come lightning fast around here, and they were left hangin in limbo..... Now dont worry if you need your sales thread back or info for some reason, we can conjure its spirit from beyond the either viel still, .....FOR a price,,,<nah Just kidding, but we really like cookies too>

Unfortunately that means that some of the heavy duty comments and chit chat from those pages went POoF!!
We apologize for the post count lost, no one lost anything important like refs or itrader data, all that was taken away was the post<and it aint really gone, gone, ya know>

Now if you want your post counts to go back we can do that ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ahem,,cough,,,,for a small contribution to the benevolent Mods Assoc, care of this forum.......

It sounds like a good idea, especially for very old threads... Will this be branched out to the Discussion Forum if a topic hasn't been touched for a while, I wonder?

Makes sense to me, though I'm sorry for those who lost a lot on their post counts. Time to start posting like crazy to get back up there! On Pinter perhaps?

OOPS! Sorry!

Sorry for the slight confusion and inconvenience, seems like there was a bit of miscommunication on our end. We know that a lot of people on the boards take a lot of pride in their post counts, and we are working on restoring them now. We apologize for the worry this may have brought, and appreciate your understanding!

Thank you so much for fixing it!!
