Disney Princess Designer Collection DOLLS --- NOW WITH PICTURES PAGE 3! ---
If you indeed *LOVE* these collectible and IMO overpriced dolls as much as you do, then use your cell phone alarm, wake up 15 mins past PST midnite and diligenly sit in front of your computer.

This is a statement that comes up from time to time, and so I'll pull it out here. I disagree 100% that being unwilling to do crazy stuff like line up for hours, wake up in the middle of night means that you aren't a TRUE collector. And if that becomes the "price of admission" for a hobby, that hobby is already on its way out. Most people don't work that way. They have kids, jobs, obligations and other priorities. So if you insist that a person does those things to "participate" most people will walk away. And then you end up with a SMALL pool of people willing to put up with it. And then you have a small pool of people willing to buy one of the dolls you've been counting on selling for money. The market dries up, and a bunch of speculators end up "holding the bag."

If you look at collectibles, the things that are worth money are things that a lot of people had access to and fell in love with. They used them, they played with them, they broke, they got thrown away. And then people go looking to recapture something and find that there aren't as many of them out there as there used to. These types of LE collectibles and the frenzy that is associated with them, ensures that they will be carefully displayed, and carefully stored and almost each one of the 4000, 6000 or 8000 dolls will be available at some future date.

Combine the two...few people looking, lots of supply = lower prices in the future.

Speculators need to listen to the anger that comes from people who are forced to choose between outrageousness or not having something. No YOU may not being doing anything "wrong," but angry people does not equal future and repeat customers. It equals people being so frustrated that they give up on something completely. It means a smaller pool. If too many dolls end up in the hands of speculators, they will quickly find themselves with all the dolls but very few customers. Not exactly a winning scenario.

I have done countless co-ops here on the forum....I have had countless people involved in them and be VERY happy that they got an opportunity to own something that they otherwise could not.....

BUT: ( and this part really bites) when it comes down to helping me out with finding something I can count on 1 hand how many people will step up to the plate to help.

Your MORE than willing to purchase a great low LE pin from me, but your NOT willing to trade with me?

Heck I sold the Rapunzel pin from the designer set for $50.00 and I thought that was a SUPER fair price knowing what Rapunzel pins are doing!

And guess what I made a PROFIT off of the Designer pins I sold....it more than paid for the set....I did not hear anyone being so super upset about people making a profit on the pins???????

AND THEY WERE LE150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(KEEP IN MIND THIS IS NOT EVERYONE I HAVE CO-OP'ED WITH)

Sorry but I just HAD to get that out!:rant::nono:

I hope you know I MORE than appreciate your help with the Princess pins and the couple of trades we have made in the past! :) You are the ONLY one who has helped with the Designer pins and when I say I have been through hell trying to get this set I am not kidding. It has been ridiculous and you realize who your friends and are not when something like that comes out. ;) I have had 4 people pretty much say "hey, sorry, you are not important enough for me to work on a trade with" even though I had helped them in the past. One of them I had JUST made a trade with for a pin that they really wanted. It was not like I was asking to buy them from them at cost either... I was willing to offer a fair price or great trade but none of them even wanted to take the time to look. Then I had more than one on ebay fall through on me b/c the person offered to put up at a price but then decided to either change it or it got sold before I could get to it. Then most recently I ALL BUT had it in my hands but thanks to some really shady sneaking around I had it taken right out from under me. It has just been crazy frustrating and has made me quite ticked off several times. It hurts your feelings really quickly when people treat you that way, but what can ya do?! So again, the 3 from you I SOOOO appreciate b/c if it were not for you I would not have any of them at all.

The dolls... I have not been greedy with but I wish I did have the money to load up on them all! lol I can't believe how popular they have become! It is just insane! I just need to get Snow White and Rapunzel now and I will be happy with those.

I disagree 100% that being unwilling to do crazy stuff like line up for hours, wake up in the middle of night means that you aren't a TRUE collector.

I never said that Hope. I just showed it as the alternative to complaints that won't lead anywhere constructive.

My point is simpler: Whining on the forums and condemning sharks because of a sold out doll, neither proves Disney love nor makes anyone a true collector. It just feeds the craze to get one more than needed next time*to show them* and adds to unnecessary speculation.

Like I said before, getting one more doll if there is an opportunity, and passing it on to someone else at face value would make a difference. That is the only way I can think of to beat the sharks. Not whining.

I never said that Hope. I just showed it as the alternative to complaints that won't lead anywhere constructive.

I wasn't intending to imply that that is what YOU I meant. But I have seen enough collectibles and enough people in those hobbies who DO think that you are only a TRUE collector if you are willing to jump through a million hoops. So I wanted to bring it up here. And I don't want people in Disney hobbies to start thinking that they HAVE to do crazy stuff to have any hope of ever owning something.

You have options, here. And the only "cost", IMO is time. If you are willing to wait, you will win.

If these were LE100, that would be different story. But they aren't.

I was just over on ebay ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS for the pin set . Bargain Basement price is $875.00 .
What were we saying about greed !
I apologize to members I may have offended on your asking price .
I completely umderstood if I didn't have a match .
But then I also say if I'm offering multiple DLPR Pin Trading Night Pins . Right down to a LE 50 pin picture .Good Traders And there are members that get to more of the events that can get another or maybe even their grail !
We should help each other , thats what I thought it was about on a forum .
I have made some wonderful friends on this forum . That have traded and bought . We had wonderful conversations .You know who you are all !

I feel whining and having a bit of a vent are two different things. I'd like to think I was having a 'vent'.

I realize that when you want a coveted product, you got to move your butt a bit to get it. I am one of those Disney World vacationers who IS up at 0400 PST to get my 0700 DDP reservations for Ohana or Cinderella's Castle at the prime time. I used to be rabid about certain Gymboree clothes for my daughter and would sit up until midnight to place my order for the hot Thanksgiving sale. I get it.

But like Shiva said, it seems the window of opportunity for these dolls has shrunken dramatically week to week; reading the boards is one thing, cheering each other on for getting a doll. But seeing the people (aka Sharks) in action at the Disney Store today really was upsetting. And truly- more upsetting? Glancing back at the true fans who DID get there well before the store opened, not getting a chance at a doll. There were 2-3 really sad looking faces back there. :( In the end, I'm wishing TDS just had a LE of 8K on each doll. Then again, maybe they thought they would be left a lot of the less 'popular' princesses if they did that, so it was a roll of the dice.

I am new here, and it probably isn't very savvy of me to jump in and vent my first post; I do have almost 10K posts on the DISboards so I do know forum etiquette from 10 years of Disney lovin discussion.

Sorry that some of you feel you need to defend yourselves, but those of us who are disappointed have the right to be a little bummed out.

And yes, I will be 'refreshing' next Sunday with the best of you, for pretty Snow White. :)

Good luck~~

If I learned anything from my friends here that you have to order at 3AM . I'm EST zone, so I go online at midnight our time, after stopping here Moon told me PST . I went back to bed and surprisely waking at 4:18. I bought one doll thinking they wouldn't get sold out if I decided to resell . Wow was I wrong at 11AM they were sold out . Next time I'm just ordering 2 .Perhaps one will be the golden ticket for a pin set .

As expected, there are lots back-and-forth discussion with these dolls and their values, and I do understand the reasons some of you are reacting the way you are. After all, people simply value things differently. A forum of this many people will never agree on the same thing. That being said though, please use your best judgment before posting any further. Keep things civil. And no, I'm not singling out anyone. I'll keep the thread open for now, but the moment I witness any more direct flames and attacks towards one another, I will close it.

And this is for you guys ----->:hug::hug: x100

Well I was planning on going to get Mulan after school today...but when I woke up and saw that she was already sold out online I freaked out and decided to run over there before class instead...I am SO glad I did! I got there about 10 minutes after the store opened and was about ten people back in the line...and people had already been checking out at that point. Most people were buying two dolls each, some bought one, and two people in front of me were surprisingly there to buy toys for their kids...not the dolls...they probably thought everyone else in line was crazy! LOL

I asked the CM how many dolls they received and she said they got 40...and they would probably all be gone within the hour. This release has made me very nervous about Snow White... I might just try and order online and save myself the stress. The Mulan doll is really pretty though so I'm glad I decided to get her...I love the little flower sticks in her hair. :)

Sorry to everyone that missed out on her...these releases are becoming crazy.

I kinda want to order a Rapunzel for trading purposes now... :O

BTW, I can only imagine the amount of tears on the Rapunzel night. Flashbacks to old DS.com releases... you ain't seen nothing yet if this is MULAN of all princesses haha

Wow, I am getting scared now that I won't be able to get my two dolls( since their will more then likely be a smaller LE size to them). My pride and joy, like many of you is to get Rapunzel( is my #1) and Jasmine( is my #2). I would have liked Ariel, but I can't afford the ebay prices right now for her.....
Maybe if I am able to get an extra doll of one of the other ones, I could trade with someone on here. I use to work for the Disney Store back in the day, for 5 years( best job ever) and I know for a fact that if any CM gave out info. they were not able to share with guests at the time, you would get in big trouble and maybe even lose your job. But like all things you would have to get caught or someone tell on you.

I know money is tight for anyone and everyone these days, so I understand people have to do what they have to do, with selling things on ebay. It does not always make it fair in some peoples eyes, but I guess that's just the way life goes sometimes......

I get scarily addicted to this game and then BAM I am horrible at getting back to people because I get impatient because they took too long or I just ended up getting to busy lol.

Wow 40?!?! which store, I thought 20 was nuts for the store by me (they only received 14 for the 8000 LE).

Florida Mall in Orlando...they seem to be getting fairly large quantities of the dolls compared to other stores. Maybe because it is the closest mall to Disney World and they think there are more "Disney fans" in the area?

Wow, 40 dolls is a lot for one store! Cool for that area, right? :)

My small store (a non-remodel, very old school with the Mickey and friends still up around the perimeter of the store), had 14. The manager did announce that they do have been getting replenished, so if people wanted to leave their name and number, she would call them should more come in. I thought that was nice.

Waiting to see if more mugs come in- they were cute, I had no idea they would be so hot.

Love the dolls and have all of them so far:) does anyone know what happened with that red mulan scarf? I saw it up for only the first week the designer items were released and then it disapeared. I don't think it sold out because I feel it was pretty expensive ($70). There is also none on ebay, so I can figure out where it when :/

SAME HERE! I have been going nuts trying to find the Snow White scarf. It actually is on the DS.com website but it won't let me add it to my cart...

I don't know if it sold out or not, the release date is August 23rd or something. But with the $70 price-tag for a scarf??? And I have not seen even 1 on eBay. So I'm not sure what happened here.

I think my Dad ordered a Mulan scarf. I told him about it the first day they were released, but I haven't verified if he did and if he received it.

Totally makes sense on the 40 dolls, but still crazy :)

So onthe Disney blog the buzz, the person who does it posted an error saying there's only 4 dolls left and I commented saying shouldn't that say 6. Needless to say my comment wasn't approve the post was fixed and no thanks lol not that I expecting it but still kind of surprised that my comment was denied. I wasn't rude or anything.

Okay now I might sound dumb BUT are they still releasing the pins or were they only for sale at d23? Because I'd so love to buy the Ariel one because she is my absolute favorite.
