5/5/13- New PODM Display! VERY IMAGE HEAVY!
I think any kind of light can change colors over time. It would be interesting to find out officially from Disney what circumstances would fade these pieces of film, and how long it would take. Like the original poster said, it's a shame to keep such good pins in a dark pin case. I don't know what I will do for long term storage, but they can't be enjoyed without a light source.

Artificial light doesn't have near the spectrum of wavelengths direct sunlight has - that's why it's more harmful to colors.

I have never seen a PoDM pin - I don't dare because then I'd just want to collect them. Is the piece of film protected by any kind of glass/plastic on either side?

But arent cells made to have light projected thru them? and its not like you are going to leave your lighted case on all the time right?

Yes, artificial light which has less wavelengths than direct sunlight (I just realized my previous message wasn't very clear - sunlight is more harmful than artificial light). And they do fade in time, a lot of remastering old films for new releases has to do with color correcting.

I don't think having led lights on all day is harmful to the cells compared to hanging them on a window. Led lights don't even heat up.

Everyone is of course free to do what they want with their pins. However, PODM are rather expensive especially if you want a certain character to appear, so I'd hate to hear about any of them getting ruined for whatever reason.

Great display!!! I wish I was collecting those pins! I saw one at the park for the Black Cauldron and I didn't buy it and I should have :( . GREAT JOB THOUGH!!!

UPDATED! Finally got brighter lights and it looks MUCH better now. Next step, upgrade the Cinderella & Sword in the Stone cells!

Thanks everyone for the compliments! We're very happy with how it turned out.

I am so envious of your scenes! So awesome and it must have taken a lot of work! But it paid off because you have a beautiful collection there! Do you plan collect all the releases this year as well?

Do those lights put off any form of heat that in time could damage or discolor the cell? We have invested a lot of money into our selected PoMH sets that I fear damage to them... Your display is beautiful and I love some of your scenes....

To be honest we haven't left them on long enough to see if they get hot or not. They are LED lights and pretty small and also battery operated so my guess would be probably not. They look nice with the lights off but if you want to look at it or show someone we just turn the lights on to display then. So as long as you don't leave them on for long periods of time then you should be good!

And to answer everyone's question if we are collecting this year's series, yes we are! I made sure to buy extra of the lights and I should have some left over velvet and foam, so I'll just have to buy another case is all. We liked someone else's display where they put characters on paper around the pins and we thought about doing something different but decided a simple display works perfectly because it doesn't take away from the pins and cells themselves.

Can't stop looking at these! I just do not have the money to start collecting these this long after they have gotten so popular. I will however attend the Apocalypse, AKA the tangled POMH release :) It will make a hell of a trader
