Hello all! I have been thinking..

A lot of times when people are trading they'll say "I have a PODM for trade." Then you have to go through the process of emailing or pming photos of the scene. I was wondering if it would be possible to have a database or a thread of some sort where we could list members by username and post their scenes that they have for trade below their name like so:

Disneygirl333:

has

Beauty and the Beast PODM scene by Lost Princess of Atlantica, on Flickr

for trade

( I don't, this is just an example)

What do you guys think? It'd also be a cool way to see what scenes people have. :)

or maybe create a photobucket and have separate albums for each movie. You can post as the caption to each picture the username of the person who owns that particular scene.

Thank you guys! I like your ideas, keep them coming!

Another way we could do it would be sub forum with a member list of people trading PODMs (like the one we have when you go to the community tab ) and each person could have a link to a page (like a photobucket) with their scenes for trade. And the ability to search for a certain member or movie? That way you could either search for a specific person or movie?

Perhaps have them listed like this:

disneygirl333 ( Little mermaid, BATB):

*link*

d***** ( Aladdin, Pluto's Christmas):

*link*

So that I could search Aladdinand all of the usernames of the people trading Aladdin PODMs would come up... etc... :dunno:

I know about the podm library on pintalk, I just meant what people have available for trade.... not which ones are in existence..

I really like the idea! But what would be the next step?? Meaning, who would you need to talk to, to get this done?

I tried making a little Lion King database on my own.
Each time I see one appear on ebay or here, I save it onto my PC, hoping that someday I might have every scene.
Not that I would want them all, but I'm just weird, and would like to know how many there really are, haha!

Wow that is ambitious~!!!
I do however see a few things that could be difficult, however not impossible to overcome, I will add this however,
UPkeep on this would be a tremendous effort...
.as a few folks have mentioned these pins do not stay in trading long, the variance on actual scene content would be substantial, and the storage capacity for some of our more photo talented folks could be mind shattering,,,
,<ie I shoot almost all my pins with my phone, however folks like heyyouwannatrade<sorry sp, amanda> or others, photography is how they live so they have good equipment!!>
We try to have folks use links to outside storage spaces, to save our servers and memory for the lots of stuff that goes on in our community, check most of the more photo heavy threads and they will all be links, so now you have links to actually coordinate<I do not forsee the PTB granting that much storage for a single pin type for trade or sale, but I will post this thread to the mod/admin forum<yeah we gots one>

Lastly the maintence on this thread would be a real PIA, with each trade , links and discriptions would have to be deleted and then added for each new member whom aquires one to trade.
No offense, but that could be a rather intensive job,
all in of itself,,,,, 24 pins, approx<dont beat me pixie if the number is wrong>8 scenes per and of course oddities<AP, artist signed, etc,,,>, YOu are looking at approx 200+ catagories to list pics in.
And the discriptions would have to be at least standardized to allow for semi easy indexing<NOT every podm is a grail, just ask those with fireworks or horses butts>
Which of course will lead to some,errr,,ummm... discussion to say the least as to proper catagories or sub headers for each cell to be labeled under<not all have just "log scene from LK" or " Areil w/flounder " will satisfy each holder of the pins<becuz pin values are so subjective>

As I said I will mention it to the ptb, and while a marvelous idea,, I believe it will require a tad more effort than may have been anticipated by some of our members.

I'm not sure it would that difficult. Create a thread, and the first post could be an alphabetized list of members and a link to their post in the thread showing their scenes. Maybe a brief notation about what movie they have. So like, this where the blue usernames are links to the specific posts:

hopemax: Aladdin, Lion King, Sword in the Stone
lucan444: Snow White, etc

If someone wants to know who has a specific movie, they can use Ctrl+F to search the page. Post that as an instruction.

Each member will make ONE post with the pictures of the scenes they have, and be responsible for keeping it up-to-date. The thread maintainer primarily needs to worry about just adding members when they post. Although, it would be beneficial for members to PM the thread maintainer if they trade all of a specific movie away to remove that movie, or remove their name altogether when they have no more to trade.

The important thing would be NO CHIT-CHAT! So no posting, "oh I love that scene" or "ack, my grail!" begging, arranging sales/trades. Keep the thread streamlined so it's easy to just see usernames and scenes.

Assuming I'm correct that photobucket links don't use DPF storage space, I'll put in my 2 cents on a possible format:

- create a PODM Trading sub-forum under Pin Trading
- in the sub-forum there would be 24 threads
- anyone with PODMs to trade would post only photobucket-linked photos in the appropriate thread
- take volunteers who are willing to post photobucket links for others, and post their email addresses in the OP
- anyone who wants to post a PODM photo but isn't comfortable with photobucket can email their photo to one of the volunteers
- no posts in the threads other than offers of PODM's for trade

Whatever format we use, it will only be useful if people delete their posts after pins are traded.

I'd like to add if possible you can also have an option of saying : these are PODMs for PODMs vs PODMs for grails. Like I would trade my PODMs for grails of mine any day.
