2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
im actually shocked they made Beast for Belle, will he be all plastic, or all fur? I wonder.....

That is a good point, I am not sure how they intend to do the beast but I am hoping that they do it well as he really would look amazing if done well.

Good luck Polaris! I hope the pins and the dolls are a higher LE as well, considering they are princesses, they'll no doubt sell out regardless of the edition size. I'm just torn because I want to like the set (and I do like Snow White, Jasmine, and Rapunzel) but I'm so iffy on my 2 favorites in the set

Thanks Kupo! Will you be collecting the pins for this set this year yourself?

In regards to the authenticity of these images I figured that the artwork is different to the prior two because of the fact that these are the princesses again. The line is called fairy tale designer collection so technically this is another designer set. So my guess is that they changed up the art style used to avoid comparison of the princesses in this line to the original line. I figured if the same style was used people would start questioning sinilarities and whether it was worthwhile getting the set.

Also the cover for the lithos does look similar to the original cover of the princess lithos back in 2011 and I for one am hoping that it is authentic as it is finally a designer type line that has likeness to the actual movie!

But who knows these could in fact be really good fan art but either way I can't image the new set deviating too far from what has been depicted.

I can actually say I love all these.
Course my budget could only handle so much. So Ariel and Eric and beast and belle are a must!

In response to all the complaints about this collection not being "designer" enough: the word designer is an incredibly broad term. It's not like Disney is labeling these as couture. Personally, I like how different this line is from the other two designer versions, and while the characters do look similar to their movie versions I think they are still very different. Like Amanda said, they look like they stepped out of a fairytale storybook. I hope the pins and dolls do these images justice!

Yeah, I agree. I won't make my decision until I see pictures of the dolls. I think the lithos are pretty, now lets see if the dolls do the lithos justice.

If this was going to be a NEW line it should have been the Fairytale Collection - leaving out Designer.

I think Designer was included to increase sales honestly. Anything with the title Disney Designer you know is going to be mobbed by resellers and collectors alike because of the brand name "Designer" alone.

Honestly, the past few hours I've been analyzing the lithos (since they are ableit confirmed at this point, I never really doubted them, but with the internet you never know) and I've come to terms with them. I think they are all pretty in their own right when not compared to the DPs and DVs and thus, I would enjoy owning 1 set of the pins, but knowing that as soon as they come out, they'll be marketed at $1000 or higher makes this set impossible for me to own right off the bat :( Unless they are released on DS.com, I have no shot at owning them since I know barely anyone going to D23 either. However, I'm fine with that, it's a lovely set and anyone who owns them had better not toss them aside, but I'm okay with not having them ^_^ Thank heavens they aren't Wreck-It-Ralph related haha

I think you bring up a great point, a quick look on Google gives you the definition:

  1. Made by or having the expensive sophistication of a prestigious fashion designer.

and that is incredibly subjective. I've even come to the realization that none of the princesses look that bad, sure some are barely changed, but hey, they are changed. My real beef comes with the princes who, let's all be honest, have no changes whatsoever. Beast and Aladdin are fine since they have minimal changes (kind of like Ariel and Belle which are fine), but Flynn, Eric, and the Prince...maybe I can't see the little details, but I really see next to nothing at all that's different...still a nice image though and no doubt a nice pin set.

P.S. I'm also interested in how the Beast doll will look and I don't even collect dolls

Finally pictures! :)

I am not going to judge until we actually see the dolls (considering litho artwork and actual dolls are two completely different things)...but I will say I was hoping for a more "unique" look for the collection...but I do think they are all very beautiful.

After my initial viewing of the artwork my first thought was major excitement that Ariel is in her blue town dress! I really hope her design translates well to doll form because I would love to have a gorgeous LE doll of her in that outfit. :)

I also really like the design of Rapunzel's dress, and the peacock detail on Jasmine's outfit is a nice touch. Snow White's ensemble also looks pretty...I like the high collar and detailed embroidery...but I am kind-of confused by her hair and lack of bow/headband.

Belle is the most uninspired for me...she basically looks like she always does. The only thing that could redeem her look (for me) is if they use amazing fabrics and details...every time they make a Belle doll something always seems a little "off" about her ballgown (and now that I am thinking about it her hairstyle as well)...if they could finally nail it I could definitely get over her lack of unique-ness.

I'm not sure what to think about their male counterparts...I have never owned a male doll and probably wouldn't if they weren't included with the princesses. I just hope they don't look weird next to the pretty princess dolls...I am most curious about how Beast will turn out...will he be primarily plastic or fur?

Overall...I am pretty excited about this line and hope the dolls turn out as beautiful as the lithos are. More than anything else I am hoping that they use more luxurious fabrics and really pay attention to the details...which were somewhat lacking in the original Designer collection.

My gosh, they're gorgeous! I'll definitely be getting the Ariel and Rapunzel sets. I've always loved that blue dress on Ariel and this set just makes me think nautical and a bit of pirate story (some of my extreme loves since childhood XD). Rapunzel's outfit is just styled like those old Mideavil/Renaissance (not sure which?) dresses and comes with Flynn Rider. Just love all around for these two sets in particular.

Only thing is, when are they to be released? I pray not right away in July; I need some time to put away money for them and the LE Ariel! Also, does anyone know the price tag for these beautiful sets? And how does one get lithographs? and/or how much would they cost?

They are expected to be revealed during the Disney D23 expo in Aug 9-11. However they are not expected to be released until around Sept-Oct if it is anything similar to last year and the year before that they will start releasing one set a week starting around sometime in September.

in terms of pricing the original post mentioned that it would be around the USD$130 mark.

Not sure on the lithographs but earlier another mentioned that she saw them on the disneystore.co.uk site at £50 but not sure as I couldn't find them myself when I had a look. In terms of availability of the lithos due to the increase in the edition size I am assuming that they will be selling it both online and during the expo? Not too sure on that one or when they will be released but one would assume that it would be when the line is released for preorder.

Like many have said before - I'm not going to make judgement until I see the actual dolls. However I will say that I am excited for them. I love that they are so true to the actual in-movie designs with some detail added. I think the idea of getting dolls that look like the characters do in the movie is something they've needed to do - as nice as the basic classic line is they're always riddled with glitter. Curious to see how the males come out.

if the doll look like that, i'm gonna die... No way I'll be able to bought them ( two i think will be possible at best ) and they are all beautiful in the picutres, now let's see the real finish product, but i ll have an heartache, if they are so beautiful.

Thanks for the pics Mel, these appear to be the same as the one in the link posted earlier.

I cannot wait to see what the dolls look like as I think the lithos look amazing!

I found them online for £20 on DS.co.uk but they weren't for sale yet, I found them through changing the URL- I found a lot of unreleased stuff haha! I also found a page for the TLM Deluxe doll set, with a price of £50 on the dolls- not too bad for the UKers! This is the same price point as the Cinderella doll set we had, right? I can't recall finding any other unreleased dolls, but the TLM deluxe doll set and lithos were definitely there :)

Sorry about that PrincessJasmine you did say £20 I was going off memory and for some reason thought it was £50. Thanks for correcting me though, thanks for the tip on just changing the URL. I was going to say it might have just been a glitch that the disneystore site is renowned for hehe.

thanks again for the tips and info!

Well, dang it. My wallet is hurting again. All of these look gorgeous, even Snow White.

IA that Belle looks the most "normal" though. She is my least favorite, which is surprising to me, seeing as I've never particularly liked Snow and Belle is one of my faves.

A lot of this for me will come down to how the designs translate to the actual dolls. I am also leery of what the princes will end up looking like. At bare minimum, I will be after Ariel/Eric regardless thanks to the blue dress, and the litho set! Those would be really nice to have matted and framed.

As of now, Ariel, Rapunzel, and Jasmine are my favorites, in that order. I am SO excited Ariel's in her blue dress! I was thinking the other day how much I wished Disney would make a doll of her in that dress. :bigthumb:

Oh wow if the dolls are as beautiful as those images I'm definatley gonna try get them all. What an expensive year this could turn out to be :(

Looks like it is official - a picture of the Fairytale Collection Litho cover was posted on the doll designers Tumblr Page.

Note: The photo of the Litho Cover appears to be taken down now as of Sunday night.

Any chance of linking said changed URL? Perhap once I know what it's listed under, I can find the US site one by tweaking the URL as well. :) Also, are lithographs normally sold separately or were they given to the first few customers and/or the ones who bought the full set?

I also remember hearing that at my local Disney Store they did a raffle to see who was going to get the chance to even buy the dolls. Talk about nerve-wracking for those who wanted them! Anyone think they'll do this again with these beauties or will there be some other method of getting them in-store? I'm assuming Disney learned something is needed after seeing the Designer Princess fiasco.

Omg...thanks for the images of the designer couples!

Uh oh, I had feared this happening....I MIGHT LIKE THEM!! I had been imagining tacky tuxedos and dresses resembling kitsch toilet roll covers, but these designs look beautiful o__0

I may have to get one! (I will only be able to pick one)

How do you tweak the URL to see them? :)

That is correct about the raffle to buy the doll, I believe this only happens if you go to a Disney store to purchase the doll. I think this was Disney's way to ensure it was fair. I am not entirely sure how it worked as I have never gone into a Disney Store to buy one but I believe if you were interested in getting one you were put in a draw for a chance to buy one when you get to the store, due to the limited number of stock the stores hold. But if anyone has actually experienced buying these in store please feel free to correct me if what I mentioned above is incorrect.

i am not sure what method Disney will use this year but I am assuming that they just continue with the raffle but tweak it a little as that seems to have worked. They usually send out info on how sales will work the same time the reveals come out.

How do you tweak the URL to see them?

Changing the URL means changing the details that appear in the address bar of your browser. So I am assuming that PrincessJasmine just randomly entered different numbers to get to the said site? I am not sure but depending on your IT skills you could probably work out what the actual site address is through the web code or randomly enter numbers until you find it.

Last year I got Malificent in the store. We had to put our name in by a certain time, I think it was 12:00pm. Then we came back at a certain time, around 12:30 or 1:00pm, and the CMs pullled names out of a cauldron for the number of dolls they had in stock. We were not allowed to be in the store once the names were being called out, we waited in a sectioned-off area right outside the entrance.

It was a really good system, and promoted positive interactions between those waiting, we were all wishing each other luck and chatting about dollys. It turned out that the edition sizes of the DVs were high so most everyone got one that wanted one, ever, but I hope they continue to use that system to sell in stores. Mostly I just hope they have the option to pre-order all the dolls on DS.com before they start releasing.
