PIN & POP PIN & POP Site Announcements & Ideas

Agreed. I don't think it is the best timing. If it was one week later, there probably would have been a ton of excitement with people posting up D23 stuff.

Quick update regarding Grail / ISO matching for Trade Arcade ...
Previously, pins marked as "Grails" functioned just like ISOs when matching pins in Trade Arcade. If you had a pin marked as a Grail, others who owned that pin would show it highlighted and be encouraged to offer it as a trade. This has been changed so that now you can use the "Grail" functionality for both pins you ISO and for pins you already OWN.

This change is based on feedback that many collectors want to label their most prized pins or pins that were hard to get as "Grails" too. Absolutely makes sense to us! So now the Grail label will need to be used in addition to the ISO label if you want it to be highlighted in the Trade Arcade ISO match.

Keep giving us your feedback and Happy Trading!

I'm sure others must have recommended this, but I STRONGLY encourage you to set up a way that let's us cancel trade offers after we get a pin. If multiple people have the same pin that I want, I want to send offers to all of them. Once one person accepts the trade, I no longer want any of the others but i can't cancel those so I can end up with multiple of the same pin. So in the same way that a pin on my table is no longer available once I trade it away, the same should be true on the other side of the trade.

I like this suggestion. Nice!

I’m a little torn on this as I 100% understand why having accidentally traded for a dupe can be frustrating especially if your pin was hard to find. It’s like you wasted your really awesome trader for something that you got in a “lower” valued trade and have regrets. I’ve done it several times but just treat the new dupe with the same level of value as what I traded away. Plus I get good karma out of it! 😅

We completely understand the frustration of ending up with multiples of the same pin. We've talked internally about possibly making a setting in the future to automatically cancel offers for duplicates once a pin trade is successful but some traders want to be able to trade for duplicates - either because they are good pins to use for trades or because sometimes trades fall through during verification (or are missing) and if you really want that pin it's worth doing multiple so you make sure you get it. Either way, it would need to be a different setting for different trading styles.

We've also had requests to allow people to cancel ANY offers they've made at any time during the Trade Arcade (or after a specified timeout) and, after consideration, I don't think we would add that functionality as it would drastically change the trading experience especially for those that have tables (disappearing offers would also be a frustrating experience).

We don't have a timeline for adding a setting to automatically cancel duplicate offers but we'll definitely continue to discuss it and I welcome additional opinions here for those that feel one way or the other. All of the feedback we get from the community helps us try to continually improve the site and these trading events. Thank you @Ajk for that feedback and thanks to everyone who has responded!

I can see why you wouldn't want to allow generally cancelling offers for any other reasons. I agree that sort of across-the-board freedom is contrary to the process. But I'm glad you agree that the duplicate cancellation is a different beast and also glad you are exploring it. And making it optional makes a lot of sense since there are folks that definitely like multiples of different pins. If you can make it on a per pin basis - I traded this one so cancel my others for it/keep my others live - that would be ideal and cover everyone's situation.
Thanks for the consideration.

Now, about the ability to do multi-to-one pin trades.... :)

What about a pop-up alert? When you make a trade for a pin and then have offers out for it elsewhere, you could receive an alert asking if you want to cancel the others offers for that trade or keep them open. Only if the individual indicates they want to cancel the other offers would they do so.

To the same point, an alert could pop up for the other side of the trade saying that the offer was rescinded because the other person acquired the pin in another trade.
