2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
They really are an amazing pair. Of all the sets this is the one I have nothing bad to say about. I love them.

Wow, I honestly thought they would last the weekend. What I love about this set is their romantic posing and the fabric. I just panicked and checked my order and it finally says that it shipped out today. Whew! I am crazy nervous about the next two.

If Rapunzel can still pop up in the UK, I suppose it's possible that one of the others will pop back up. I wonder if stores where dolls are selling slower will ship them back to the online distribution place? Who knows? It is exciting to watch all of this unfold. More exciting of course if we can get the dolls that we want!

Can I just say congratulations to everybody for getting not just Aladdin & Jasmine but all the designer fairytale dolls that been out so far! From the very 1st release of Snow White & The Prince with a slow start. Then the 2nd of Rapunzel & Flynn with a good run. Then we had Jasmine & Aladdin where the hype is starting to pick up with people. & now we have the last two remaining couples left with Belle & The Beast & Ariel & Eric.

For me personally I would say this wouldn't be too hard to get for the remaining couples left. I'm planning to get Beauty & the Beast but not for me but for my girlfriend. Plus I'm also planning to get the two surprise LE dolls on the 1st as well. I mean if I don't get them in store, I'll also try ordering from my phone right away too. Like I still try to have some luck with myself & try not to bring friends or family for the raffles of the couples. Like I want to play fair & square with these upcoming dolls. Plus I think I'll be up & early at my mall, waiting outside the store of course.

PLUS! I want to clarify about anybody who did the pre-order for the little mermaid & that it came with a coupon. $10 off any purchase or $20 off when you spend $40 or more, you CAN NOT use that for LE items. Such as the dolls coming up on Oct 1. I know I know a lot of people knows that by now but you would be surprise about the amount of people who asks about that. This is coming from a cast member view :]

Here is a thought about the popularity of the various princesses (couples) in this line:

Snow White is generally favored by the older population because until the late 80's we only had the original three. That population is slowly decreasing and/or may not be collecting new stuff. Also, they may have become attached to the princesses their children grew up with making their collections focus more on Ariel, Belle, Jasmine - after collecting so much org 3. I believe Snow would have been the slowest to sell out no matter the order (also, there was the D23 version which some people got instead).

Rapunzel is really popular, but she is still new. Collectors are starting pick up her stuff, but her dolls are often not as popular as you might think. I think her sell out time was about right. I do believe that in about 5-10 years she will be just insane to get a hold of in limited form, like Ariel is today.

Jasmine, Belle, and Ariel are all princess I grew up with so I love them. I am just about the age to start/continue collecting seriously (young adult, with job/degree/money). Someone mentioned TLM merch is getting harder to come by, I believe that is because people like me are going back and looking to collect their childhood favorites. This is prime collection time for these ladies based on their age. I'm sure Belle and Ariel won't last more than 1-2 days if that.

The collection seems to be picking up, but it could also just be the princesses themselves and their individual popularity. What do ya'll think? I am only going for Ariel, but may re-consider this line when the hype dies down on the second-hand market.

I think you are probably right ladyroselie. Also I think the big thing with Rapunzel was how the dolls were positioned in the case....I am somewhat surprised the Jasmine sold out that fast online though! However, they are so beautiful I can see why. Plus we are getting closer and closer to Christmas, which means people are probably starting to buy gifts (I know I am!). I think Belle/Beast and Ariel/Eric set will be the toughest to get in-stores and will probably sell out online within a day or so. So everybody make sure to get those two set on the day they come out if you want them!!

I also grew up with Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle. I related to Belle the most and to this day she is still my favorite. I also have little girls of my own and find myself interested in newer movies that appeal to them (Princess and the Frog, Brave). So I do agree that there is an appeal to the movies that have a personal history for people. There is something special about those first princesses that will always make them seem magical to me. I also think that for me to have a collection, I want those older princesses to add history and depth to my treasures. I wonder if modern day fairytales like Once Upon a Time serve to increase the hype for these designer dolls. My family loves watching all of the stories intermixed in a modern non-fairy tale kind of way. I don't think that Belle or TLM will last more than one day (if we are lucky). I still firmly believe that those who are diligent (early bird gets the worm) about being online at the release or in store at the right time, will come away happy. I wish everyone the best of luck! May the odds be ever in your favor!

Here is my theory on popularity....now when you say "old" I'm not sure how old you mean :) I'm in my mid 30's and Snow is my favorite, but for a number of reasons....She is princess #1, first Walt animated feature film, her singing voice and even hairstyle is dated to that time (vintage flare if you will), my grandpa told me he saw it when it first hit theaters (that's just cool)...and quite frankly the storyline of running deep into a forrest to avoid your heart literally being cut out - I feel like if Disney made this today...that would be considered to disturbing for a G movie and they would have skipped or changed the murderous plot. I don't think you need to be old...you just need to be a kid when you see Snow White and have a few nightmares to look back and love this film.

A note on Ariel - I'm not sure if you all are aware but mermaids in general have become strangely popular in the last 10 years. Ariel gets collected by these people, but they are not disney collectors....they are gathering mermaids. She may very well be popular in Disney circles, but in the art collecting world if they get wind of a new cool Ariel...off she goes. The fairytale Ariel is not a fish at all...so I'm guessing no mob, unless there are eBayers who think 2011 will repeat simply because it's Ariel. Designer 2011 Ariel in that collection had a gown that themed alongside a mermaid...and her almost Gilligan's Island Ginger styled hair is what put her over the top. If eBayers pounce, they will be disappointed. There is just no way she will rocket to those 2011 numbers overnight. Having said that, I think the last two will go fast. Both are very pretty. When I collect "look" takes precedent over the movie itself. I like Aurora, but had no interested in the Designer Barbie version. Anyhow that's my $.02

GAH! I'm in trouble now. So, I have avoided my local Disney Store like the plague. I dunno, I like having money in my bank account. I browsed around, got an Elsa doll, LOVE HER even more, and then...made a fatal mistake...I looked at the Belle and Beast Designer couple...and fell in love. GAH! I thought I was going to be able to just look at everyone's pictures, go "Ooooh! Those are pretty", and walk away. Nope. Beast just doesn't photograph well or even correctly. In all the photos, I thought he looked dwarved and like he had the huge Beast head sculpt on a prince body with Beast hands and feet. No, he's an actual Beast of a doll and looked well sized. Belle and Beast were my FAVORITES as a child so I've always loved them. I won't be crushed if they are a 5 minute sell out...but I want to throw my money out there in hopes that an order goes through. (Plus, if they do make a continuation in the future, I would want Tiana and Naveen since they are my current FAVORITES and it would be nice to have both of the couples.)
I'm already starting on my apology letter to my wallet. Ursula and B&B...might as well just start carving it out now. ;)

Rapunz: That is a very good point. I actually follow a couple of blogs about "real mermaids" and is a big underground deal (however, it is starting to become more popular)! I'm pretty sure many people have heard of Mermaid Melissa, she is awesome and the silicon tails that she has made are FABULOUS!!! I really want one for myself! However, I've always been keen to swimming and being in the water since I was really little. My grandma's nickname for me was "Mermaid." I think that is one of the reason as a child I loved Ariel, I always wanted to swim with a tail and breath under water! That's why I like collecting LE Ariel dolls when she is in her mermaid form. I especially love the 17" that they released!

Even though Ariel is not in her mermaid for for the DFDC I still must have her for my collection. She is just to beautiful to pass up!!

Rapunz - I just meant "old" generally. I am 25, and I love the Original Three so much - but I know many my age who don't care for them at all. I suppose I was thinking of my co-worker, who is 60, goes to WDW all the time, and just adores the Disney Classics without following much of the new stuff. I was totally generalizing and I mean absolutely no offense or disrespect of any kind. I just meant to say in terms of a general timeline. That is a really interesting fact about the mermaids, I never thought about that, but i believe you are right.

Oh I know what you mean! lol :) I was just saying Snow was before my time but I love her. I agree though, older folk are probably not watching the new stuff as much so they would lean to the classics. When I sat down and watched Tangled with my girls and when it got to her morning song where she sings about doing a billion chores and squeezing in craft projects....I immediately thought she is pretty much singing about every stay at home mom on the planet who runs a business on etsy - and I run one and am a painter....so she came right alongside of Snow as my top 2 faves. As much as I love Disney, I know I would not be keeping up with all the new films if it were not for my 2 girls.

I debated and debated on whether or not I should start to collect some from this edition, and in the end I decided to just watch eBay like a hawk and try to win the Gold D23 Snow for as cheap as humanly possible. She should arrive tomorrow - can't wait. I always start out slightly fond of them, and the more I look the more I want. I must look away from these last two or I will find myself staying up until 3AM with credit card in hand and a slight panic brewing.

I agree, I'm mid 30's and my favorite is also Snow.... I think it has to do with what affected us the most as kids. Don't get me wrong -- Ariel was my obsession from 1989 until Belle and Jasmine came along, but even then her red hair called to me! But Snow wil always be my favorite.... Saw the movie in theater for 50th anniversary.... I was mesmerized! She was so kind and beautiful. And because of that experience, the Evil Queen is my favorite villain! ;)

Im in my 30s and Snow is becoming my favorite BUT she never was my favorite as a kid. I liked Cindy best until Ariel showed up and then it was Ariel for a long long time. Then with Jasmine and Belle those three modern girls were my favorites and Cinderella, Snow, and Aurora were pushed way into the background. I don't think 30s should be counted as the "older folks who prefer Snow". We still had Ariel, Belle, and Jasmine arriving while were were kids. I don't really feel like I grew up with Snow White at all. It was all about the three new girls for me. I think maybe some of us are going back and revisiting Snow White and falling in love for the first time. That's how it was with me. I didn't grow up with her (even though I did see her movie), but now I'm falling in love with her and wondering why I dismissed her as a kid.

Part of Ariel's huge appeal was her songs and voice which I still think is one of the best scores of any princess movie. It is so easy for all ages to love her songs and go around singing them. I also feel like her songs and her voice style don't age as much as some of the older princesses and even some of the newer ones might (Rapunzel's solo song is a bit too much pop music and might not prove as universal). Every generation loves Part of your World.

The other big draw is that yes, she is a mermaid. I was obsessed with mermaids before her movie came out and I still love them. Almost every little girl is enamored with mermaids and want to be one. Ariel always gets bonus points from people just because she is a mermaid. She's not only a mermaid, she's a princess! On land and in the sea. There is something special and charming to everyone about Ariel because she's a mermaid.

Hey guys sorry I know this is already way off topic but, I always just thought that Ariel's appeal was her quirky and free spirited attitude? Compared to the princesses before they were definitely not as quirky and fun as Ariel was. Snow, Cinderella and Aurora were very conservative and very much damsels in distress, Ariel was one of the first to have a bit more life and character in her as she was part of the change in the way Disney princesses were perceived and I think that is why people like her.

In my opinion I believe that it doesn't matter how old you are at the end of the day each princess has their own traits and it is because of these traits that people can relate to them. The more a person has in common with the princess the more likey they will relate and like that princess. As the line up keeps changing it is expected that those that we like will also change. I know a little girl that loves Snow White and a friend in their 30s that loves Ariel it just comes down to personall preference.

In the case of the designer fairytale line Jasmine's popularity could be the result of numerous factors, I for one believe it is just because the dolls actually do look amazing, there are no issues in relation to the pose, no exclusive versions to deter the demand and people are starting to become more aware of the line. I just think its a combination of a whole bunch of factors including the popularity of the character.

I cannot wait for the release of The Belle and Ariel sets, I think that just like others on here have mentioned, Belle will sell better than Jasmine and Ariel better than Belle. It will be a progressive gradual increase in demand for each doll set as their popularity increases. I don't think we should have any issues trying to buy them online but I do agree they will sell out faster. So as long as if you are online at midnight you should be able to get the dolls you want.

I'm young enough (21) and my "heart" princess was Aurora.
I remember it was the FIRST disney movie i've seen when i was really "baby" and child :) It was the favorite movie of my mother.

After her, The little mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and the others :) In terms of past and memories, Aurora ,Snow White and Ariel are the most near in my mind.

Snow white had my love for her kind-naive-lovely nature, i really love her in the movie.
Ariel because it was THE little mermaid, i ever loved that story (even the sad version :( )

Of course in 2010 when a GREEN eyes, blond, kilometric hair girl , with an ARTISTIC attitude show up, i fell in love :D I had green eyes, i ever dreamed about a disney version of "Rapunzel" and i am an artist so.. ;) That's why i adore her too!

Every princess is special for something :)

I'm 30 and Belle will always be my #1 - I remember going to the cinema to see B&B on release with my mum and it was all sold out, seem to remember crying quite a lot and we never chanced it again - always booked ahead of time! Probably the anticipation of seeing it led to it building up as my favourite film, and favourite princess! Rapunzel is a close second, probably because she helped me rediscover my love of Disney, or at least caused it to explode lol.

I'm 21 and Snows one of my favourite princess's, I love her sweet nature and the evil queen is one of the best villians.I think I will always love Snow White because it was my first movie I remember watching and I loved it as a child. As I got older my favourite is Aurora because Sleeping beauty is my favourite movie and Maleficent is my favorite character ever and Aurora is by far the most beautiful princess. I love Ariel & Rapunzel too! So my favourite would be in order aurora, Rapunzel, snow, ariel:) Once I get the Ddf Ariel I will have my four princess's:)

I think it's all to do with who you relate to or grew up with.I never liked Jasmine or Mulan growing up and don't now for e.g.
