At $500, I'm not sure I would be so worried about it flying out of stock. Sure, there's only 500 of them, but it's also 4X the price of the next highest priced LE collectible from the movie. Also keep in mind that after resellers got burned so badly by the Sleeping Beauty dolls, it's much less likely they'll be going after something this pricey, which should help some as well.

Was sleeping beauty difficult for the resellers to sell due to the large LE number? Maybe disney should do that more often, i know some people like the fact the LE numbers are low as it makes them more exclusive which i totally get but if iit raising the numbers helps stop resellers buying them before true collectors get the chance or maybe re-releasing the dolls in different outfits from the movies like they have with the latest frozen set might make a difference to resellers? I notice sleeping beauty and wedding rapunzel are the ones with the lowest reseller price

I get that to combat the secondary market, there are really just two options: higher edition sizes and/or higher prices. With higher editions, they run the risk of not selling enough, especially in a multiple release like this one.
While I'm bummed the $500 price tag puts a gorgeous doll out of my reach, I guess I'm happier they made it at all, rather than opted to skip it.

I wasn't going to get Blue Cindy because she was so similar to my 12", but as time passes my resolve is weakening! I'm starting to really wonder what she'll look like in her box... I think that might make it or break it for me.

As for wedding Cindy, no way! I'm not spending $500 on any doll.

k, i can sort of pinpoint my disappointment of the wedding doll.

apart from her looking like her less expensive but awfully similar counterpart and the price tag, there are more prevalent things i have... issues with. lol

while beautiful, her wedding dress is not really iconic. for any version of the tale, when i think cinderella, i don't think her wedding dress.

i'm sure it will be worth more than other limited edition dolls in terms of quality, but again, i would probably go only up to 350$ or so. not too sure where they pulled the 500$ price tag from. and i mean that in a sense that the quality of these dolls is already so high. not to mention the price of the prince and cindy set includes the prince, so that's why it's more pricey (for the regular dolls). but back to the point, how much more high can the quality be? is it literally a mini designer dress for a doll?

and without an explanation from disney, i would not be sure what i would be paying 500$ for. rareness? ok, but why that specific price tag?

i am not hating on the doll, i am just not going to pay for something that dangles "wow wow 500 limited edition cinderella wedding omg omg omg fireworks and loud noises". i just don't get it. especially since it's limited edition AND only online? could they not have added a description? am i supposed to read the description when the listing is posted while frantically trying to purchase the doll? we won't see her in person... like...

has the "flowers hand-painted" thing been confirmed?
is there anything else?

but i'm glad that the blue gown cindy is not a limited edition 500 cause that would be unfortunate.

LOL. I totally get what you are saying. I think what is most annoying is that Disney just releases the doll without any description of the doll or explanation or justification of the price. Like you said, we are just supposed to be wowed because it is a limited edition of 500. And if the doll does have some fantastic details that Disney is keeping top secret until the day of release for some strange reason -- anyone who is thinking of getting the doll isn't going to have much time to read the description when they have only a few seconds to check out before it is gone.

They won't even release a photo of the box for the doll. I want to get Blue Cinderella but I'd really like to see a photo of the box beforehand. Based on last week's release I don't think we are going to get photos of the box. Collectors in the US were able to see the Frozen dolls in the boxes because they were released in Europe first, but Disney didn't release additional photos of the dolls in their boxes before that. The Cinderella dolls are being released the same time here as in Europe, so I'm afraid we won't get anymore photos or information about either doll. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't think it is necessarily the royalties making it that expensive. The blue dress doll is much more reasonably priced and it is based on the same actress. And the classic dolls use her likeness as well. Like you said, I think it has more to do with getting just as much money for less production/costs.

I don't think it is necessarily the royalties making it that expensive. The blue dress doll is much more reasonably priced and it is based on the same actress. I find all of it illogical. They'll sell the same, and if they priced wedding Cindy at the same or a bit higher than ball gown Cindy with an LE of 2500 they would make more money.

they will have a fancy description when it appears online but who has time to read that when most are trying to actually purchase the doll?

people who will be buying blue cindy in store will see the photos online and decide (of the doll and the box). for online buyers, it's unfortunate, because they have to make that decision in a few seconds to make sure they get the dolls, wedding and blue cindy.

I'm not sure about the blue dress Cindy, but I don't think it will take the wedding doll very long despite the high price. There will only be 250 available in the US and 250 in Europe -- that's not a lot at all and there are already people saying they are going to try for her. If anything, the scalpers will take up half that number, if the postings already up on ebay are any indication!

I don't know what to do about the blue gown doll. I prefer to get my dolls in store, but if I miss out there, I will have lost my chance. I guess I am going to have to try online and just hope the doll arrives in decent shape.

I definitely get the sense that Disney is testing the waters here. It's not surprising that this is happening after the Frozen explosion and the surging popularity of these dolls. Disney sees how much some people are willing to pay for these dolls. I hope this doesn't become the new normal. I never had any hope of completing the collection because I started collecting too late and there is only so much I am willing to pay for a doll, but things will become much more challenging for completionists if Disney starts selling a special $500 LE with each release.

Then again, I wonder if they are starting a whole new line of 17" live action dolls and maybe these extra-special LE's will be reserved primarily for the live action line. Only time will tell I guess!

Not long to go now, I hope everyone gets the dolls they want on Friday. Regarding the new lines it's just strange because we had the Harrods sets which I thought were the exclusive sets but then we didn't see any for the recent frozen dolls. Maybe those were to test the waters and now they've decided to make them an occurrence for each new doll release. O ly time will tell I guess.

Is is everyone happy with their Mac make up? I'm guessing they are LE too, what sort of numbers?

I messaged disney about my mirror being scratched and they offered me a replacement or a refund. I asked for a refund as they've now got them in my local store so I can have a look there for another one.

if i decide to go for blue cindy, this will be my first limited edition doll. but even now, i was reading about previous releases and the craziness and am like "do i really need to experience all this? is this going to be fun? is it worth it?" are people going to camp out for this?

i'm gonna try in store probably and am going to hope that the people who may be there are nice individuals. i'm sure they will be, i had some pleasant conversations during a frozen restock in line.

like... for me, it's not so much about what the hobby is turning into, because scalpers and the search for grails and rare things are just... they are there. but it's the amount of action and charge that this has. it's bigger and scarier and really hectic and competitive.

i just wanna get this one doll and go and be happy and not have people cut me off in line. i might have to call and be like "where does the line start so i am standing in the right place?" oh goody.

and i pray hans will not be released, because no thank you. because everything will not be x2 more hectic but x10 more hectic.

Would love to see a better image of the blue gown one because while I love the dress, I just think she looks sweaty.

The important thing to remember as a collector is that the dolls must be worth it to you! As long as you love them and are comfortable with what you have paid for them there is no problem. If you are buying them with the idea of resale at some point in the future you may well find yourself disappointed.
I personally love all of my dolls and have only bought the ones I really like - I'm well aware that although they have monetary value now in the future they may not but that's okay as that's not something I am personally interested in, they will always be valuable to me

Thats why I don't want the wedding doll, she doesn't have the value for 500 for me. I only have the sleeping beauty set plus fairies and for their retail prices, it's worth it but not for the wedding one. Not sure of ball gown because of the skin, would love better pictures but not going to happen

Honestly? The wedding doll will be sold out faster than we can share links. We need to realize that the only people who get more excited for these dolls than collectors are scalpers. Another big problem with these dolls are the people who pre-order dolls on eBay from scalpers. This doll in particular will equal pay day to quite a few flippers out there thanks to the unresourceful collectors who would rather pay some shark hundreds of $$$ so that they don't have to be awake at 3am.

I don't mean to sound pessimistic. I'm just trying to explain the reality. We keep feeding sharks, so they keep circling our waters.

The blue Cinderella probably won't be that bad for in store purchases. But, online sales are a lot easier for scalpers since they do most of their work from a computer anyway. And if she does sell out fast, you can bet it will be the same scenario as the latest Frozen dolls: flooded market and dolls soon settling close to retail.

I'm glad I can live without both dolls. If I see the movie and fall in love and want one, I'll settle for the blue, but only if I find her at / close to retail.

It's so funny to watch all the Frozen dolls on my local classifieds drop and drop in price. The asking price has gone from $500-$200. And they're still not selling. I can see that happening with the blue Cindy.
