Cinderella 2015 Merchandise
At $500, I'm not sure I would be so worried about it flying out of stock. Sure, there's only 500 of them, but it's also 4X the price of the next highest priced LE collectible from the movie. Also keep in mind that after resellers got burned so badly by the Sleeping Beauty dolls, it's much less likely they'll be going after something this pricey, which should help some as well.
you go into a home appliances store and say:
"excuse me, sir, but i am looking for a microwave, could you please help me find one that suits my needs?"
"here, this one is 15,500$."
"but why so expensive?" you ask.
"why, it's limited 500."
in my case, i would ask what else it does.
"why, it has flame throwers for the most toasty toast experience and automatic coffee dispenser, plus it's signed by the artist who hand-painted the designs onto the microwave. also, there are some jewels incrusted here and here."
OH I SEE THAT MAKES SENSE.
this is my rationale.
guys, i'm getting over a flu, bare with me, my examples suck.
they better release more info on the wedding doll.. ESPECIALLY for that price!!LOL. I totally get what you are saying. I think what is most annoying is that Disney just releases the doll without any description of the doll or explanation or justification of the price. Like you said, we are just supposed to be wowed because it is a limited edition of 500. And if the doll does have some fantastic details that Disney is keeping top secret until the day of release for some strange reason -- anyone who is thinking of getting the doll isn't going to have much time to read the description when they have only a few seconds to check out before it is gone.
They won't even release a photo of the box for the doll. I want to get Blue Cinderella but I'd really like to see a photo of the box beforehand. Based on last week's release I don't think we are going to get photos of the box. Collectors in the US were able to see the Frozen dolls in the boxes because they were released in Europe first, but Disney didn't release additional photos of the dolls in their boxes before that. The Cinderella dolls are being released the same time here as in Europe, so I'm afraid we won't get anymore photos or information about either doll. I hope I'm wrong.
Less dolls.. less production. They'd make the same amount of money if she were approx $100 and LE 2500. I guess most is royalties to Lily. Either way it's just a trick for completists.

I find all of it illogical. They'll sell the same, and if they priced wedding Cindy at the same or a bit higher than ball gown Cindy with an LE of 2500 they would make more money.I don't think it is necessarily the royalties making it that expensive. The blue dress doll is much more reasonably priced and it is based on the same actress. And the classic dolls use her likeness as well. Like you said, I think it has more to do with getting just as much money for less production/costs.
That's what I think.. Or know. But still. Oh well, I don't really care as I'm not buying her. Ball gown Cindy looks better!I don't wonder if Disney is just so used to these dolls (and pretty much almost any LE item) selling out so fast that they don't feel they need to?

How long do you all think it will take for ball gown and wedding to sell out online?
*maybe this is all a test. maybe disney is like "let's see how high we can go!" i just can't wrap my head around a number like that. 500 LE = 500$? same number? yes, ok, what else. whaaaat elseeee?
I havent decided on the the blue gown Cinderella, like others, I could spend the money but I don`t want to spend that much on a doll not unless I know there is a definite resale value down the line (might be harsh but in the end I want to know it is either something that I love or will increase in value, the 12 inch doll looks nice so not sure about $500).
Long term I wouldn't expect any of the dolls to increase in value - we are in the peak of the hype for this line at present so prices are too. As with all things collectors will eventually move on to something new and the monetary value of the dolls will decrease.
The important thing to remember as a collector is that the dolls must be worth it to you! As long as you love them and are comfortable with what you have paid for them there is no problem. If you are buying them with the idea of resale at some point in the future you may well find yourself disappointed.
I personally love all of my dolls and have only bought the ones I really like - I'm well aware that although they have monetary value now in the future they may not but that's okay as that's not something I am personally interested in, they will always be valuable to me
