eBay - 14 day BUYING ban and all negative feedback removed.
So in my further adventures on eBay...
I've bought 79 items in the past month. 18 individual pins costing about $1 each from one seller, 11 pins from another seller that cost from $1-$5, and 4 pin lots from another seller. These were my counterfeit buys, I reported them as not as described, counterfeit and eBay had me return them, and I had my money refunded. So all in all, 33 bad items which I promptly returned for refunds from 3 (THREE) sellers.
SINCE then, I've had dealings with 11 (ELEVEN) other sellers in that time. All GOOD pins. 46 good transactions. I became picky in which sellers pins I would bid on. One seller I bought 2 pins from seeing if they were real and just good buys, they were and I have gone on to bid on many more items from them.
Now because I had the misfortune to try to buy from unscrupulous people or people who just didn't know (which I doubt because going back to each of their profiles, I see they have either relisted the pins, or are selling more of the same), I have a 14 day ban from buying/bidding on ebay. NOT from selling, oh no.
I called eBay (since there are 3 pins that are coming up in the next 24 hours that I want) to straighten this out. Basically you get a code that is good for calling them within 15 minutes. The call however is not to anyone who can help, it is to a tier 1 person who just escalates the issue that will be dealt with after 3 business days. Not within, you have to wait at least 3 days (or 5 if you call on a Thursday or Friday).
The message from eBay with identifying info removed. I've bolded information we all should be aware of. The troubling parts.

To keep eBay a trustworthy place for all members, we routinely review buying and selling activity. In reviewing your account, we found:
An unusually high rate of buyer protection cases being opened for items not as described
Because of this behavior, we've:
--Restricted your ability to buy items or place bids for the next 14 days.
--Removed your account from the eBay Buyer Protection program indefinitely. You won't be able to open any cases in the Resolution Center.
--Removed from related seller profiles any neutral or negative Feedback and low detailed seller ratings left by you within the past year.
This restriction only affects buying, and will be automatically lifted after 14 days have passed. You'll still be able to sell on eBay and complete transactions for items you've already won.
Please be aware that if this activity continues, you may be subject to a range of other actions, including suspension of your eBay account.

So what does this mean? If you buy from bad sellers, eventually you will have no protection from them. And your feedback about bad sellers will be removed, meaning others will be buying from them not knowing that they are bad sellers. So their much vaunted "buyer protection" program won't help you if you use it "too much". Subjective to eBay decisions. This is... troubling...
