Just a bit of a rant here as I know this has happened to a couple of you guys before as well since we talked about it but, please, if you see that somebody won a pin on ebay don't email the seller and offer them more for that pin. What kind of a jerk thing is that to do? How would you feel if you had won that pin and somebody did that to you? Seriously, it is ridiculous. Somebody else already won it and is probably very excited to get it. I don't get why anyone would feel this is the right thing to do.

I have won 2 different pins on ebay lately which I have been excited about as pin buying has been very limited for me lately. On both of these occasions the seller messaged me asking to cancel the transaction b/c they would like to sell it for more!! Um, NO! I will not just cancel the transaction. You listed the pin at the price you wanted for it. You are in a binding contract now. Just b/c somebody else offers you more does not give you the right to tell the original buyer that you will not be sending it to them. I will not cancel the transaction and you will get a negative!

UGH! Sorry, rant over. I am just so sick of people doing this!

Wow Its really hard to even say whats on my mind about this. Can the seller even do this? If this happened to me I would contact Ebay about the seller. Sorry this happened I would be really mad if that happened to me.

ABSOLUTELY contact ebay. I'm pretty sure that's ebay-illegal and they DEFINITELY deserve negative feedback at the very LEAST. do NOT agree to cancel, make it go to ebay resolution center!!!!

Wow, this would never even cross my mind to such a thing.....I'm so sorry this has happened to you Amanda. I hope u get your pins. No wonder your mad, I would be too xxxx

Bad for business. Once you win, the seller has entered a contract with you and must provide the product for the price agreed. To ask you to give up your buyer rights, so they can make more money, is not your problem and they shouldn't be asking you, if they were ethical. Report them.

Ha ha .. I can't believe some are actually admitting that they want to sell the pin for a higher price. That is a sure way to get a negative feedback.

For some auctions I won for low prices, I heard things like "It is lost", or "Back of the pin broke while packing, so here is your refund", or they never send it and refund later claiming p.o. lost it. And you see the same pin re-listed later .. LOL ...

But nobody ever admitted down right to wanting a higher price.

I believ3e that once an auction is ended, the seller must give it to the winning bidder. To cancel your purchase and give it to spomeone who emails them offering more is illigal. I think its in the eBay seller contract.

The only time a seller can relist or offer second chance is if you do not pay within the alloted time eBay states as policy.

Report them to eBay immidiately.

OMG! This has never happened to me on eBay. I would be ticked off, too. I have had a seller tell me they couldn't find the pin and refund my money. Then I noticed the pin was relisted and sold for a higher amount. It's just so crazy the game these eBay sellers play. I am really sorry this happened to you.

Thanks guys! I definitely did not agree to cancel the transaction and will be contacting ebay about them.

Yeah, I have had those happen as well, esp with BOTH of the designer sets. I was the first one to jump on ebay and buy them, then, sure enough the seller did not have them, sold too many, etc. Never got either one. I am not completely stupid people, I KNOW you just wanted to get more money!

These last 2 really take the cake though as the person admitted they would like to sell the item for more!! It truly ticks me
off!!

I don't think it's necessarily that someone else offered more; it's the seller who wants to sell it for more. Contact eBay and leave them negative feedback. Their "minimum" bid should be the price they are willing to sell it, not hoping that it will attract more people to bid.

Geez, if you they are going to be a crook, they sure need to at least LIE about it! How stupid could they be to actually admit that?

Very shady indeed! Report them!!

Oh my god who would even do that! That seller should be banned from selling on ebay anymore.

I completely agree i would copy and paste the message send it to ebay thats rediculous and so wrong. I havent even heard of this happening its so awful. This person definitley should be banned. I hope youll be able to get your pins. Which ones were they if you dont mind me asking??

The best way to avoid these problems is to pay immidiately after you win. Once payment is sent, the seller has a harder time backing out. If you pay, then they back out and give you a refund, claiming they lost the item, keep the communications.

Then when they relist the item a few days later you can report it to eBay. It will put those sellers with shady dealings on the radar of the eBay staff. If it happens several times, with the same excuse each time, and multiple reports, the seller will get into trouble.

Thanks guys! So one of the sellers messaged me and said they would still ship the pin after I declined to cancel the transaction so we will see if that one works out ok.

I won't say what the items were just simply to not draw attention to either of the sellers in case things work out on both ends.

I have seen things end SO many times at prices I would have killed to have the pins for but I have never emailed the sellers trying to get them to back out and sell to me instead. It is such a low thing to do to somebody who was lucky enough to win it at that price. Then for the seller to actually agree even though they sold it already is just sad!!

That's bad, very greedy and sly. Deffo report the seller if they don't send your pin!

And if it is because another buyer has messaged with more money they should be ashamed. That's not in the spirit at all :-(

Wow! I have never even heard of something like this before! Glad you stood your ground!

I'm glad that everything worked out, hopefully. But I'm suprised how ebay has gotten with people listing/backing out/relisting stuff in general. It's an auction(or BIN), you don't know what the market is one day to the next. If you have a set price you want/need are waiting for the right price, just do the rest of us a favor and just list it as such or don't bother.

Second that. Well said. You bought the pin fair and square for the price offered. If the seller can't cough up the product or service, they are at fault.
