I was just at the post office and dropped off over 35 pin packages and for all of those packages with DCs came to a total of $122!!! :eek2: I have never spent that much before on shipping at the Post Office!!! CRAZY!!!!

Soo...my husband says I should slow down on pin trading and trade more than one pin with the trader to save me some money cuz most of the packages had one pin and it cost me a little over $3.75 a package. So...therefore I think from now on if anyone wants to trade with me I will ask to do a multi trade UNLESS if there is a pin I "REALLY" want I may be willing to trade one on one.

I am sorry for ranting but this just pissed me off by how much money I had to spend on packages!!!!! :eek2:

WHEW......at least it over with now...although I still got a few left to send out that I havent packaged yet....I just cant believe how stressful packing pins can be for mailers and especially the time it can take since it took me more than 3 hours to pack pins and going back and forth finding the proper addresses and double checking everything. I feel like my pins are all over the place!!!! AHHHH!!!!

Thank you for listening....lol!! whew....

If you printed your postage online, either through USPS.com, PayPal, Stamps.com, etc, you could have saved about $30 on the free delivery confirmation alone.

Were you including the cost of mailers & bubble wrap in that $3.75, or was that postage alone?

I'm another one who recommends printing online. Then you also don't have to make the trip to the post office. I have mailers from work but I re-use mailers from other people as much as I can. If you go to paypal.com/shipnow you can print multiple labels and pay online with your paypal account. It's $1.64 for First Class with Delivery Conf. for a 2-3 oz package (1 pin). I think (iirc) about $1.86 for 4 oz (2 pins). I don't think I've had a package weigh more than that.

maybe it is your area I don't spend that much on shipping even with delivery conformation about $2.80 a pkg more if it is a bigger pkg but a little one not more than the $2.80

Postage has gone up husband is a carrier it is a lot of work to get our pkgs to others when shipped

Im sorry but i think you all have missed the point of this!!!!!!

You made over 30 trades???? :eek2:, im still stuck on that part!
I am lucky to get 1 trade a month.

You go girl!

Happy trades
Kirk

Holy Moly!

Thats quite a bit of change!! But let it be known its quite nice of you to be double checking and just making sure your trades go where they are suppose to go! Hopefully we can trade in the future!

ps. Thanks for this thread not being the "usual" RANT hahaha.

Do you have a 99cent store near you? You may have to do some digging but they have nice bubble mailers there sometimes 2 for 99, or 6 for 99 just depending on store and day.

Good tips everyone! Yes marcia (one of those were mine te he he) I must beg you to join us in the wonderful world on online postage..You will cut your bill in over HALF!!!! I also agree with all of us green (and cheap) packers who re-use decent envelopes--so everyone open careful!!! sometime is giggle when i see how many other addy's are under my label. and as stated above i have also found 2/4/a dollar mailers at the dollar stor and a good 6pack at wally world for a bit over $3

any other tips i am always looking for ways to save. I also look at everysingle offerers traders to see if there are any possible matches to multitrade, cause you pay the same for up to 4oz (2-3pins) so take advantage. Sadly i have really cut down on overseas trading WHICH SUX for both sides due to the price of overseas shipping skyrocketing. I was floored last week. $9 to france and $6+ to the netherlands and the UK isnt much better. So again i try to multitrade.

As for bubble mailers... I bought a life time supply for $35. I got like 500 from ebay. LOL.

I never worry about bubble mailers!

You can also be green and recycle mailers! I keep mine from trades/purchases and I reuse them! Take off the other postage, cover the addresses, and tape it up! It saves me TONS of money! (and helps the environment! )

I was going to ask, also, are you buying your bubble mailers at the post office or from other sources? You might be able to save money either by reusing LBEs (provided they're in good condition) or purchasing them from other sources (eBay, office stores, etc).

Just focus on the positive, instead: you've been able to make 30 trades where most people have trouble making just a few. Just think of all the fabulous pins you're going to get soon - make your glass half full.

Wow 35 trades is that an all time record? anyone else ever do more than that? I think the most trades I ever had over a weekend was about 9-10. Congratulations DumboLover21 for so many trades, and yeah that would definitely hurt the wallet at the post office, but hopefully you will also be receiving about 35 LBE in your mailbox, what fun.

Thanks everyone!! Yes, most of the traders are from the PinPics. Got alot of good traders so I am pretty excited!! I just never done this many before within a week period. I buy my bubble envelopes from Sam Club for 4.99 a box of 25 so I do that by buying my supplies there. I will start using PayPal from now on for shipping. I just learned from a few of you on here that I can save quite a bit money and no more trips to the PO. Thank goodness!! I hate waiting in line!!

Thank you everyone so far for your advice, input and suggestions!! Keep them coming!

I am off to putting my traders in my pin bag for Disneyland since I am leaving in 5 days!!

Hi Marcia,
Was my pin one of the ones you mailed? I sure hope so, it's been a couple of weeks now and waiting this long for a pin stresses me out.
I have to agree with everyone else. I always print my postage through Paypal, it's only $1.64 for up to 3 oz with DC. It makes it much easier to mail out your pins on time when you only have to drop it in a mail box.

I sent 15 yesterday and it was almost 40.00..so thats the most I spent..but I wrap my pins thick...so I know why they were higher priced

but thats Ok..I know they are getting there safely..3 were overseas..so it was not bad at all

I would still go to the post office and ask the postal worker to manually scan each of your packages in (when using the PayPal DC). I've heard from some people here that just drop it off and it doesn't show up as accepted at the post office so there's no way to track it (and it's not always scanned along the way).

Unless you go to the manned counter at the post office, make sure you weigh your packages properly. I have had such a problem with other traders not weighing properly or just slapping some stamps on their pin and mailing it. I get postage dues all the time. It's gotten so bad that I have my carrier refuse all postage dues now. I go to the post office and have mine weighed. I've been doing this since the beginning, and I haven't had one complaint of postage due in 11 years of on line trading!! It's just plain rude to expect others to pay your postage when they've paid for their own.
