It would be interesting if they were to release dolls based on the game because the game was developed as a joint project between Square Enix and Disney Interactive Studios hence the similarities to Final Fantasy. It would be cool to see dolls like that but like you said it would be a bit of a long shot as Disney have been basing all of the dolls on movie characters so far but it would be a pleasant surprised if they do.
I understand Mulan is coming out this year but don't forget Pocahontas came out last year but there was no doll. They have generally released dolls based on the Diamon Edition blu ray releases and cinema releases Snow White, Princess and the Frog, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Tangled and Brave. As much as I wanted an LE Pocahontas and Mulan they do not have diamond edition releases and it was evident with Pocahontas that not all princesses will have an LE doll. (maybe they will change this based on the popularity of the dolls but it will probably not be until later in the future).
I think Disney will be smart about this, they will release dolls but will do it in a manner to keep us wanting more. Don't forget we may have another designer or something new this year with the expo on in Aug and when the Villains came out a lot of people were complaining about the continuous doll releases, especially in the second half of the year. Cinderella, Designer Villains, Merida & Elinor, Lady Tremaine and Calhoun which resulted in some of the dolls being in stock for quite some time so I am sure Disney will learn from this mistake and either reduce edition sizes or space them out more to keep the hype alive.
My predictions for 2013 are:
Mar -Jasmine (LE of 5000) pre-order around Jan/Feb
Oct - Ariel (LE of 5000) pre-order around Jun
Oct - Ursula/Vanessa (LE of 1500) surprise release
Nov - Anna from Frozen (LE of 6000-8000)
Aug/Sep - Designer line or something similar to this to be released as part of the D23 Expo.
There will probably be one or two other releases but not part of the "Princess" line. This is where I think Tinker Bell and Jessica Rabbit may fall into place (if the were to be released as dolls).
Im not saying that my predictions are right but I am just basing it on historical Disney releases and my opinion.
(Apologies for the long post, just put a lot of thought and research into it and thought I would share. That and I am so excited and can't wait to see what 2013 will bring us!

Don't forget about 'Oz The Great and Powerful'. I am certain we will see some LE dolls of one of the three witches at least, when the film is released in March
Well they have not done an LE doll based on a live action movie so it would be interesting to see if they would especially since if they did do something like that wouldn't they have to pay the actresses for making dolls to their likeness as they are technically using their look rather than one that Disney created? I am guessing there will be merchandise as evidenced by other posts but I would be more inclined to believe that there will not be an LE doll for Oz but I could be wrong. Just keep in mind that Disney also released John Carter, Frankenweenie and to a lesser extent the Avengers last year, all of which did not have LE dolls.

But with this 'Oz' film, it is a female orientated movie unlike the live action films released in the past. Also, a couple of weeks ago some images were leaked of normal character dolls from the 'Oz The Great and Powerful' film which had the exact likeness of the female actresses, so I am sure a LE doll will definitely be released.
The series of 17" dolls with the Princesses was originally called the Heirloom Collection... I think. I don't know if I'm remembering wrong now, but I don't think the name has stuck. Sgt. Calhoun sure seemed part of that Collection. The signature box is also the same for all those dolls, including hers, but she did seem like an odd addition to it. I don't think Nightmare and Toy Story were actually part of the same line - although I don't know why. If they were the same size, they should have been.
I thought about OZ too. I'm sure there's potential just in releasing Wicked Witch and Glinda. I know it's live action, but the characters are popular, and now Disney gets to market them. Since they did Sgt. Calhoun - I'll believe anything.
I am VERY impressed with your predictions! They seem very logical and you've done your research that's for sure. Those releases are very realistic, which means we can expect most of them at least. Sometimes Disney does the surprise releases, so there could be things they have planned that we don't even know about or could even imagine. I was also thinking about the new movie Frozen, and maybe they'll also do a surprise release for the Snow Queen or whoever the villain is LE 1500 like they did with mother gothel for tangled.

I thought about that as well but I figured that due to the movie not coming out until November that the surprise release may come out in 2014 along with the DVD release of the movie. Also based on my current predictions there are already a lot of dolls expected to come out in the 2nd half of the year.
I agree with you. I think they would definitely have potential in releasing just the Wicked Witch and Glinda as they are the main 'good vs evil' characters in the movie. I have a friend, who knows somebody who works within Disney Store marketing, and she told her that apparently with the 'Oz' film, Disney plan to go out all big, meaning there will be tons of promotion as well as a very wide range of merchandise released. It would be very unusual for them to miss out on the opportunity, however yes, they did strangely release Calhoun, so you never really know what Disney Store may have up their sleeve.

I would love LE Glinda and Wicked Witch dolls. It would be cool if they combined the way they look in the classic MGM film and the way they look in the upcoming OZ film for the dolls. Sort of like how the LE Queen of Hearts is a combination of the classic animated character and the Tim Burton version. I also wonder if they would do a surprise release for the Evil Queen. They have already released Mother Gothel, the Queen of Hearts and Lady Tremaine. They are more than likely do a surprise release for Ursula/Vanessa and I would assume they would do one for Maleficent with Aurora. So that leaves Ol' Queenie as the only villainess not to go with her princess/heroine in the collection. Maybe they will do a surprise release for her somewhere down the road?
I think Disney Store should start a line of LE 17" dolls called Movie Moments or along the lines of that, where they make a 17" doll or multiple within the box to recapture a magical scene from whichever movie it's from, making the outfits movie accurate but at the same time adding detail to make it look special. For example, a LE doll of Ariel in her Blue dress dancing with Prince Eric in the box. I think it would be a cool thing for them to do because it gives you something more to look at than just a pretty doll in a dress, and since there are so many possibilities, it's limitless and could be dragged out over a long period of time, making the collection a lot larger than a designer collection would be. Sort of like the Gallery of Light collectibles that Disney sells, but bigger and in doll form.

About Ariel, if Disney does make a 'mermaid version' LE doll of her, I'm a bit worried about how they would position her. Playdolls with mermaid tails are always kinda standing on their fins, which is fine because they're gonna be taken out and played with anyway, but in case of a display doll, it could actually ruin everything. Not only would she look pretty stiff, but for collectors who don't unbox their dolls, the fins would be invisible, which would look really strange. I hope this won't discourage Disney to make a mermaid Ariel, because she could be gorgeous if they would replace the usual stand with a rock on which she could be sitting or something. I tried googling, but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone have an example of a display doll with a mermaid tail? I'm kinda worried about this, because my collection will never be complete if Disney doesn't create an Ariel mermaid-doll....

It can be done!
I think it would have made more sense if Disney Store released a LE doll of Evil Queen in 2012, as it was the 75th Anniversary of Snow White, but I suppose it would have clashed with the Designer Villains. With Maleficent, the live action film will be released in March next year, starring Angelina Jolie, so it is quite confusing to think whether they will release her doll as the animated version, or based on Jolie's looks? Maybe the Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition may be scheduled for release around this time too, so there can be a better merchandising opportunity, as well as a LE doll of Aurora which many have been waiting for.
If Disney do decide to release Ariel as a mermaid, it would be nice for them to include some sort of rock accessory to allow better positioning for collectors. However, I think to avoid the hassle with the posing etc. like you mentioned, they may just decide to dress Ariel in a mermaid skirt, resembling a mermaid tail, a bit like how they changed the idea with the Ariel and Ursula Designer dolls. I have attached an image to kinda give you an idea of what I mean. If you think about it, most of the LE Princess dolls have had their outfits changed around a bit and made more glamorous in comparison to their original clothing, so it could be an idea they have.

So I have mostly caught up with the princesses!! I have Rapunzel (blonde and wedding) cindy and belle!! Now all i need is Tiana and Snow!!! Ahh haha so I know Im not gunna find Snow any time soon :,((((( but does anyone know where i could find a Tiana with a good price? Idky but ebay is all of a sudden skyrocketing with her price!! Any help is appreciated!!

Right now, LE Tiana is probably best bought through an auction like on eBay rather than a BIN listing. She tends to sell at auction in the $200 range (give or take $10-$20 or so), which is of course more than the retail price was, but way less than the BIN listings. I recently got my LE Tiana that way, and she was totally worth it. You may also find a random decent BIN listing, but those are getting more rare. As for LE Snow White, in the past year, the lowest I saw was a BIN listing for $350, so they do pop up once in a long while, too.
I can't wait to see what 2013 brings, Been hunting on the internet to see if there are any clues to whats next and here seems to be the best source of information . Iv just completed my designer villains set and was hoping to get Merida but shes sold out.

Anyone remember what video that was or where it was from. It was an actual video by Disney, not sure if it was on their blog or what, but maybe they will do another one?
