Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information

Ok seriously I have had enough of this, if you guys want to go and preorder dolls and not have the money for it that is your own prerogative I am just telling you right now that Disney Store will put a hold on your card as that is what the Disney Store does, everyone's situation is different because like I have said in the past everyone has different credit card providers so it is at the discretion of the bank as to whether or not they will let the charge through. So what I am trying to avoid is for people to say that you do not get charged when you preorder which in a way is true but if you dont have the funds there is every possibilty that your order will not go through.

So please stop posting about your situation discrediting what I am saying as it may not be the case for other people. If it still works for you and you dont have the funds that is great for you but can you honestly say that it will work for other people as well? What happens if someone believes you and tries buying it and it doesnt work? Really this is a silly argument so please just stop arguing about the point I have raised because it is getting rather ridiculous and I can probably argue that most people on the forum will back me when I say that it is better to be safe than sorry and that is the whole purpose of my post. Everyone's situation is different so if yours happened to work that is great but unless you can guarantee that that will be the same for everyone else then it really is pointless to argue further about it.

I apologise if I am getting annoyed about this but I just don't like pointless arguments being raised that could result in people being misinformed and as a result miss out on the dolls.

Let em' live and learn. And if they want to preorder a doll without available funds and be declined, so be it.

Did the designer princesses go up in value? As from what I saw it looks like some may have possibly dropped in value with the exception of Ariel.

2011 Designer Ariel hold pretty firm at around $500, but occasionally sells for less with lucky listings, especially auction-style listings. Designer Aurora, Designer Belle, Designer Pocahontas, and Designer Tiana hover around the $200 range, maybe more. Designer Snow White actually rose up in general value (she was stuck around the $100 area for the longest time, but has risen to average around the $150 range more recently with listings all over the map from under $100 to over $200). Designer Cinderella and Designer Rapunzel still tend to range between $100 and $200. Designer Jasmine is in a similar situation as Designer Snow White, however with listings sold at under $100 but seldom reaching $200. And sadly Designer Mulan is coming in last with listing selling often for less than $100, but occasionally selling for $150 or more. So in general, the 2011 Designer dolls are settling into pretty steady price points after 2 years, but in almost all cases selling more than retail cost.

Thanks Shiva, havent been really following what they are now selling at but I figured I should as I intend on insuring my collection soon so that does help.

I Really want to debox that Anna.
It's been hell for me not to debox my current dolls

I know what you mean I really want to debox the dolls as well because for example with Elsa her cape would look amazing if let out, but you cannot see its full potential when she is in the box. At the same time I would want to debox Anna too because I think she would look even better out of the box. The thing is I dont usually debox my dolls so it is a tough one haha. I have never wanted to debox a doll so badly and I dunno what it is but there is something about these dolls that just makes me want to debox them! LOL

They are meant to be played with.
I am going to steal your idea and insure my collection. Good recommendation!

We have USAA so I will look into them again for my collection but I'm not sure $10,000 is enough for my entire collection.. maybe the designers with d23 Cindy and snow...I basically would like to be able to receive the funds needed to replace them if something happens...and the market is crazy even nowadays. My hubby has a smaller amount listed under contents under our home owners insurance but as my collection has grown, I'm finding that won't be enough lol..at least not for eBay purchases lol

Yeah I find that very 'revealing' it disturbs the illusion that she 'is' Anna walked straight out of the movie and emphasises she is a small scale doll. Maybe some brave people could attempt...a....slight restyle!
Also her cloak is a bit stick-outy, I had hoped it would be more drapey....otherwise she is gorgeous.

And Elsa is perfection, I do think her dress looks teal and not blue but obviously everyone has different monitors and phot'os are not always completely correct hmm we will see.

I decided before any release that I would like snow queen Elsa and Snow gear Anna...

When the first two were released I was very drawn to green dress Anna which surprised me and I ended up with both. I like Anna best

Now I see Snow gear Anna I am not 100% sold and will probably not get her...and maybe I am liking Coronation Ela more than snow queen Elsa - ACK!!!!

So it is all completely backwards, I like the two I thought I would not! And I only wanted two but Coronation Elsa might be joining *finds shelf space*

I don't think Anna's hair is gelled, it's more like it doesn't sit properly on her shoulders due to how small the plait will be in real life, in the same way her cloak sticks out and doesn't drape properly- like, if these things were life-sized it'd totally be fine and they'd hang right haha E.g. Snow Elsa's plait sits better because it's longer and uses more hair- just my 2 cents!

I'm not a fan of really gelled doll hair  I'm still coming to grips with how gelled the bottom of Ariel's hair is on her LE doll!

Welcome to the forum and madness of collecting Disney dolls.

I love the designer display cases. They are perfect for someone who doesn't debox and wants to put them out and see them from nearly all angles. Plus it gives the illusion that you've set them up in a case out of the normal box yourself.

The designer cases are nice but a shelf full of them I find boring, much prefer the LE boxes were each has a unique background and colours for each doll.

They could have a different looking base for each doll, but not too different that you won't recognize that they're in the same line.
They could also have a cut-out slip, or something like that, where it provides a window to see the doll.

I really want the Snow gear Anna but said after Elsa I would only get LE Aurora and Maleficent due to budget and space! And don't want to get Anna and then not be able to get Aurora or Maleficent!

Hi I am new here. I have been collecting dolls for over 13 years and was lucky enough to get on the disney doll wagon at the beginning. A fellow collector over at the prego doll boards posted a picture of snow white. She was so pretty but I didn't need to collect another line of dolls. After she sold out online after a week my disneystore located one for me on the east coast and they shipped it out. Miss those days. I remember when the designer ariel went live. That was when they listed Alice as well. She and the queen sat there for days. I noticed her addition size and grabbed them both. Alice is really pretty and the closest in looks to snow white. Only one I am not loving so much is cinderella. I hope they get aurora right.

I just wanted to let anyone know because I hate to see someone buy the regular set for ebay prices when they can get the harrods set for a little more. I am not sure if they still have them but my total price for the set was $837 plus $25 foreign fees two days ago. I decided to sell some of my other valuable dolls to grab the set because disney and limited to 100 is very rare in the doll world and they are just beautiful. Also I have not checked with disney but one other variable that might be making this set more money is that they may be hand painted. Usually when dolls are at that price and that limited they are usually hand painted. Not sure though have to check on that.

Also on value, Disney is unique because you have the disney collectors plus doll collectors. From my observations on other boards not a lot of doll collectors are aware of these dolls yet. So I only see their prices going up and harder to get when they are noticed. As for scalpers they will only get worse now. They follow boards like this like hawks once a doll becomes hot. Not sure how the second set is going to sell but I will say the quality of disney's dolls is lovely. That is why they are selling like lightning. I screamed at mattel the other day for charging $100s for their silkstones and sending them out in such crapy boxes and disney can sell their designer series for around $60 in beautiful display cases.

As far as Elsa, I have a little girl and all I know is that little girls for some reason just love her and they love this movie. I can't imagine that she will not keep going up in price but you never know. As long as disney is smart and doesn't over do it and flood the market i think things with their dolls will stay tight. If they start pumping them out once a month than things will probably change.

Thank you for all your information and help in doll collecting!!!! You have probably helped more people get these dolls than you know. Please know the help is greatly appreciated!

The response that I got from disney was: (I asked specifically about my store, but also if stores were allowed to make you choose).

"The in store pre-orders will begin when your Disney Store location opens on January 10, 2014. As stated Guests are limited to (1) per order, pre order procedure are at the discretion of the retail Store as we do not have the details available."

So that's frustrating!!

My store allowed people to one of each doll for the first Anna and Elsa, and I'm sure we'll do the same again. So most likely your store will let you get one of each as well.

The store near me didn't allow us to get one of each last time, I was shocked.

scm, your intro post was very sweet. It's always nice to hear stories from serious collectors.

God, ain't that the truth! I can think of a couple in my collection off the top of my head!

you should try another store, because Im sure your store will do the same thing.

Thanks for posting this. I like hearing from a doll collector.

YES!! Ive been waiting for someone to do photos of her in the snow. Thank you for posting. These are beautiful

That is frustrating. I hope you can do a presale for both.

I hope this is the case for mine as well. How does it work online? Can you do a presale online for one of each? I guess you could use separate sign ins?

Welcome to the forum, and your post.

a little rant:
I'm a little on the annoyed side about my current DS (i'm really thinking about changing stores because of CM's and they way they've been treating their customers, but that's a different story..) I called and asked about the pre-order and all the information and if the dolls were going to be ONE per person, or if you could buy BOTH..The lady I spoke with kept giving me the run around about she doesn't know ANYTHING and when I told her well it's out for the public now but I want to double check with your specific store since I'll be stopping by there and its on the disney store blog all she was "okay, that's nice" really!? What the freekkk! and that I should call back on the 10th! seriously?!

UGH! worst DS customer service..ever!! -.- "end rant"
