I agree that lately the quality and overall worth of the dolls has generally decreased.
For example, Cinderella. Even though Cinderella LE is a beautiful doll, there was so much more potential- especially in her gown. Compared to the other LE dolls, who had luxurious fabrics, embroidery, crystals, lace, and other details, Cinderella's bedazzled gown was definitely lacking. They could have kept the gems but overlaid them on top of a more luxurious fabric. Her shoes were also lazily designed, as many have said. Not only did they arrive (in most cases) tarnished by the display stand. They are clear and un-ornamented, without her signature heart or any sparkle at all. If Tiana's LE can get such amazing shoes, why can't Cinderella, in whose film the glass slipper plays such an important role?
And then the overall new "look." The other dolls are either fantastic reproductions of the movie character (Tiana, Mother Gothel, Merida) or high quality embellished, more periodical versions (Snow White, Rapunzel, Belle). Cinderella was neither. She got stuck in her new look, complete with loose curl, sideswept bangs, off shoulder dress, and pale-colored lips. In a couple years (or hopefully sooner), when the look fades out, she will be dated. She'll be the doll that was made in that period when Cinderella was promoted as such. The other dolls have a certain timelessness about them.
I was disappointed in the Merida/Elinor set as well, mostly because Elinor's face is less lovely than her 12" doll, and both of their gowns are very plain and cheap looking compared to what they could have been. Plus the retail price is double what a single doll costs, which is why they're probably still available. I only got one Designer Villain, and I found the Villains to be overall less compelling than the Princess series in design and quality.

In any case, I hope that the next LE doll will not be constrained or lack in the quality of the previous LE dolls. I think that we will likely get one this spring, but who knows. They can take as much time as they need as long as it's done right. Especially since Jasmine and Ariel seem forthcoming this year, and both ought to be spectacularly beautiful.
 
I was also very disappointed with the Merida and Elinor set but thought the Designer Villains were fantastic! So much better than the princesses in design and quality. I think some of the princesses look quite cheap. Don't get me wrong, I do like them but the villains are just so much more detailed and luxurious. I also don't really have a problem with Cinderella other than the marks on her shoes. She looks much better in person than she did in her promo photos.

That's what I am really hoping for. Jafar + a Captain Hook would be amazing! They have a Captain Hook soft doll and now a Jafar classic doll. I really would like to know how those two items are selling. I hope that the demand for those two products is hopefully high enough to make the store think, "Hmmm...should we actually do something different for once and make some male LE dolls?"





Total random thought I can't get out of my head...do you think the company has any people specifically hired to read and/or interact in forums like this one as a way to gather some intel on what to sell?

And man, I want a Jafar and Jasmine two pack. Is that really creepy? I want to see her in the red outfit. I just think it would be really cool. The sides of the box could be hour glass shaped!
 

Seconded. While Cinderella is less glam than I would like, she's still very pretty, and her outfit is still more elaborate than those on the regular Disney Store dolls (it helps that I managed to get replacement shoes But the Merida and Elinor set was really pushing the limit in terms of ripping off the fans. If it had been sold for $100m it would have been understandable why the outfits were less ornate, but to charge $200...well, it's not really that surprising to me that it failed to sell out, even with a low edition size.

Haha! Good Lord, Please No!

(The only reason I don't want that is because I only want a Jafar doll, all by himself. My collection would look so weird if it went Gothel, Queen of Hearts, Tremaine, Jafar, and...Jasmine?)

I don't know what I'd want more though if they did do a Jafar release.
Human Jafar that is the most cannon image of him
Sorcerer Jafar where his outfit is more pointed and his headpiece is somewhat horn shaped

One is traditional Jafar and the other is more evil looking and ornate. Of course...they could always throw a curve ball and make him as the Red Genie or Snake...or worse...the old peddler man. :eek2: I'm sticking to the reasoning that it will be human or sorcerer...I hope I hope I hope.

Also...is Aladdin actually being released this summer? When I first joined this site, it was "accepted" and/or "believed" that Aladdin had been replaced by Peter Pan and was pushed back until next year. Now people (not just on this site) are talking as if there could be a Jasmine doll possibly released this year too. Is that being thought as a possibility because of an update on the diamond edition release or the Broadway show?
 
We're speculating that they are still going to release a LE Jasmine doll because they are still putting the merchandise out for her like they would have if it were her diamond edition. It's all just speculation though!
 
I think Jafar and Captain Hook would make awesome Limited edition dolls. While Disney tends to ignore their male characters these two do seem to luck out and get merchandise every now and then so it could happen. I doubt it but it could! Plus they both have great designs I think their dolls could look very handsome.
 
You know what just popped in to my head as something that kind of has me bummed that they didn't make?
I kind of wish they would have done an LE combo pack of the Wicked Stepsisters. Seriously, they could have been made and both gorgeous(ly dressed) and hilariously posed.
BUMMED I TELL YOU! While I really do not like the idea of combo packed LE dolls in the slightest, I totally would have thrown my wallet at them and simply said, "MINE!"
 

I am totally with you on this! I would have preferred an Anastasia & Drizella LE doll pack to the LE Lady Tremaine Doll. However, given the goof-up that the Disney Store initially made with the faces of the Anastasia and Drizella play dolls, who's to say that if they had made LE dolls for them that they would not have also been incorrectly made? The Disney Store quietly fixed their mistake after a few months with the play dolls, but hypothetically I think production on LE dolls would have been too far advanced in production at the time to fix had they actually made LE dolls for them then.

I actually hadn't heard anything about this until now. It's still too bad, considering how a later release would have been justified when the Cinderella 2 & 3 combo was released. Eh, even if they did create LError Stepsisters, I do hope that they decide to just take the dolls, replace the heads, and during an "LE Doll Downtime" decide to just say "Oh look who showed up! Cinderella's infamous stepsisters wanted to interrupt this quiet time to claim their place in your collection" or some random Disney whateverness.


Side note, I think that my collecting has become an obsession. Last night, I had a nightmare that they released every doll that I want in my collection. I'm talking, my ultimate of ultimate grails. LE Maleficent and LE Wicked Queen. Plus they released the Disney Movie Collection Witches, and a whole lot more LE villains that I want. However, it was an error in the site that caused the dolls to be listed for sale. As it turned out, I checked the website about 2 hours after the release glitch...and...EVERY DOLL was SOLD OUT! Oh my goodness, I remember waking up and being so scared and confused as to whether the dream actually happened or not. Obviously and thankfully it didn't, but I kept checking the DS site all throughout my work shift today.
 

Lol... That was me in 2011 with the Designer Princess dolls, starting even with week one's Designer Cinderella doll... But it only got super-terrible starting week five with Designer Snow White, who was my #1 must-get doll from that collection (and of course that night has landed in the history of infamous online release fiascos). The final five release day gave me nightmares all through the weeks that preceded it. Rest-assured, I don't think that they will release a lot of highly-sought LE dolls all at once (for example LE Maleficent and LE Queen Grimhilde/Evil Queen), especially from different high-profile classic films.

Ok, so I totally, for some strange reason, thought that next week was February 5th and wanted to come here and vent about how they haven't even given a hint or had an accidental leak about any LE Doll(s) release alongside Peter Pan's movie. Alas, I was wrong and it's 12 days away. But...um...still...I WANNA KNOW! All I want is a Captain Hook and I'll be happy.
Has anyone heard anything but then decided to be a butthead and not share?

hahahaha... Thanks! It's been a little goal of mine to spread the word about Queen Grimhilde's name whenever I can. I never really liked calling her "The Evil Queen" or just "The Queen," so when I found out she had a name (from a guest relations CM at DCA of all places!), I've been dropping it whenever I can!
 
Today, I've receive my first Limited Doll : Cinderella. She's just perfect but I'm waiting my Designer version (in her way to home) to put them together !

I didn't think so but she's very big ! It's surprizing !















 
I wish they would make Queen Grimhilde's into her Hag form in an LE doll or any doll for that matter. I think it could be so detailed and cool looking. Sure she wouldn't be pretty looking but that's not what her character is suppose to be. I'm going through LE doll withdraw... No news no leaks... sigh....
 


I agree I think a doll of Queen Grimhilde as the hag would be amazing. They always make merchandise of her in her queen form I wish they would do more of her as the hag. A set of her as Queen Grimhilde and the hag would be awesome.
 
I kind of hope that they make her and she's posed like and kind of looks like Olivia Wild in the Annie Leibovitz picture. All powerful and posed like she's ready to kill.
I hope they don't add a prop for her. While I love the chest and the apple, the packagers just add SO MUCH plastic packaging to keep things attached and in place. I hope that, if anything, they add the Mirror to the back of the box as either an actual and beautiful prop or as the box's background...and still pose them like the Annie Leibovitz picture.
 

I would be super disappointed if they don't give her a prop. The Mirror would be a beautiful prop- but I doubt they'd do it as such.

And as much as I want a Queen Grimhilde... I hope she doesn't come out anytime soon because I know that will cause Snow White's price to spike again and she's already impossibly expensive
 
so tired of making offers with the people on ebay for a snow white or alice. they are clearly not interested in offers as they always counter offer and its only slightly less than the buy it now price!!!!i wouldnt care but my offers aren't low
 
Chin up Mel! You just have to be diligent and check back everyday. I finally got my snow white just last Friday! Yay!!!! It was used and taken out of the box but she's still gorgeous and she still had her original box and COA. I paid $380.00 which is less than what i've seen in the past for a use one. Even a use one she was going for $500.00 so I got a good deal. I hate paying so much for something but I really wanted her. I tried to get her back in the box and I think I did okay. I hope you get yours soon! I"m still hunting for Alice and a few others which I'm sure I'll pay an arm and a leg for her and queen of hearts.
