Limited Edition 17" Collector Dolls Information
Oh yes but then self-doubt starts to creep in! As a newbie myself i saw the March dolls already on sale on ebay and US collectors saying that they'd bought theirs already. Eh? Once I realised some of the quirks of the US store and European I was up to scratch. But sometimes you do start to doubt yourself which could explain the questions (just trying to rationalize it). I think maybe because Disney doesn't announce, like in a magazine club catalog, at the start of the year its up and coming releases like so many companies do people are still not sure about it all - hence the constant questions. This forum is so useful. The brilliant info is all community led. I know friends who collect everything from Star Wars space ships Barbie's to planes and they know exactly what to expect and when via their according clubs they've signed up to.......also maybe the fact that the dolls sell out so quickly with Disney products plays a part in that doubt - so they just wanna be sure.

I gotta say though - this forum is so insightful & interesting. I've also found it very welcoming.

Disney does make announcements on their UK Facebook page and on their blog though, well before any planned releases (obviously not usually for 'surprises' unless there are leaks!). It's worth following both of these for up-to-date information :)

Oh i do. Totally. I was just maybe theorizing why so many people on the Disney UK ask a few times about the release dates which is essentially self-doubt.

I for one love the surprise element to the string of collectors dolls. Absolutely love it. I know maybe its wrong but if there is a 3rd doll released this month - bring it on! I just wish I'd started collecting dolls last year when I could've lapped up Eric, Ariel and Ursula (Do intend to get all three one day!). :-)

Never really thought about the good and the bad about surprise doll releases:
Good: Scalpers won't line up at the door, buying just for resale.
Bad: Not having enough money for the doll when they are available.

I never really thought about why they would want to keep LE dolls so hush hush. Is it to keep the people who aren't fans, and just want the doll to make a quick profit away? Is it so fans can get that rush of not knowing and seeing a brand new doll they weren't really expecting? Or is it just the demand so exceeds the supply they don't want the stores/internet overwhelmed?

I would say that Disney likes to keep their fans on their toes so by having a surprise release people don't get complacent. Also a person is more likely to buy an item spontaneously especially if it is a limited edition item rather than when they have had the time to think about it and decide whether or not they do want to buy it.

I think it's generally safe to assume that when there is any major doll release that you should set aside enough money for at least two surprise dolls. Even if there isn't one at least that way you're better off safe than sorry. I've learned the hard way that I just need to do that from now on.

I agree.
With the success of Frozen, I've assumed that they will release BOTH hans and kristoff. So for the past few months I've been saving up as much as I can.

If not both, then they might keep one of the dolls for the 3D blu-ray release in the Fall.

I personally want more collectibles. Like what Brave got.
I want a LE Olaf figure, or a statue of Elsa's castle.

How about a chandelier ornament.. ANYTHING that is not smothered in pink and made for kids. lol

I'm not gonna lie... I'm still kinda pissed off cause Snow White's cape is longer than Coronation Elsa....

>_> I don't think I'll stop complaining until I actually see better pictures though.

I'm assuming the same. Even if it's only one at least that way I had the money set aside. Hans is quickly becoming one of my favorite villains and so I really do hope that he is released. Either way with the prices of the Frozen dolls I don't think I'm going to take chances on missing out on these like I did with Ursula.

So.. question.
I was in Florida when the pre-orders were released (BTW art of animation is amazing, but has the WORST internet) And I noticed that the Disney Store lagged a lot.
Do you guys think that it legitimately lagged or was it just that I had terrible internet?

It could be half n half. Mine hung up when placing my Elsa order. Had to open a new browser and start over. And I have decent interwebs.

You have no idea how many times I would have to repeat myself on this forum, I think I had to answer the same question about 5-6 times. Like yourself I had to do the research on these dolls myself and at the time there was no informative thread or a source where all the information was available, so you can imagine how hard it was to find any information on these dolls. This is also the reason why I created the informative thread and even added a FAQ section so that all the information was available in the one location.

Your threads are very informative and thank you for all the time you put into creating them.

I say from now on, when someone ask a question that can be answered by first reading the informative threads, just post the link in response. Hopefully they will start to get the hint.

Ive always found on forums that people are either A) too lazy to dig for the information or B)think their questions are different/more important/whatever

i used to be really active on Dizboards but when Fastpass + and the magic bands came out, it was just so ridiculous how many posts were created with the same exact questions. I think one time I counted like 10+ just on the first two pages all asking the same darn questions which had already been answered 100 times before they posted in other threads. I stopped going on DB just because the amount of asinine questions being asked on a daily basis was too much to handle. Thats how I found DPF. Thank god!!

People just aren't "smart enough" to research themselves. One of my buddies was asking me half an hour if you need internet when you watch a borrowed Film from teh App store on your computer. I always told him I dunno, but he kept asking until I asked him why he's not googleing for it. x) I'm having the same issue in another doll Forum. I guess we just have to ignore it?

Other topic.... so March 18th is getting closer and closer. I'm so excited tbvh. I hope I'll be able to get Elsa and Anna since Europe will only get 500 dolls from each, which is kinda stupid. Still very curious if we'll get Kristoff. I kinda doubt that we'll get Hans, cause he seems to be no important character for the film.... at least not as much as the other main characters. Mattel didn't even release him as doll. lols But Kristoff would be fab, even though I hate surprise releases. Wasn't able to get Eric cause he was a surürise release and sold out in like 3 minutes.... but ok, I missed Arielle too. xD Trying to get one from eBay now btw. I hope I won't have to pay more than 160€ for her...

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and I'm here for the LE dolls! :) I've been reading the thread this week and you have a nice community of doll collectors here!
My first Disney Store LE doll was Rapunzel (the purple one/blonde one). I got it online from the UK Disney Store back then! I saw the wedding Rapunzel when I was in London, at the Disney Store, her dress was amazing as well!

The funny thing is, even tho I love Disney and the LE dolls, Rapunzel is the only one I have XD Some dolls I just completely missed the release of and others I just didn't want.
You see, I really loved Tangled and Rapunzel when the movie came out so I had to have the doll (she's STUNNING!). Then I was a bit bummed out realizing that my favourite princesses Snow White and Belle had already been released before I got into the dolls. For example, I was looking forward to Cinderella but I felt they didn't go all out on her, like she is a bit too simple in design. I was looking forward to something grand!

Right now I'm OBSESSED with Frozen (seems to be the trend now right? XD), and I feel the worst cos I seriously did not know this movie was even coming out or that it would end up meaning so much to me. (Judging the Olaf&Sven trailer I had zero interest, I thought I would hate it.) Needless to say I missed the November dolls and I can't believe how sad I can be over a doll!! XD I'm in love with Kristoff and Anna's characters and I neeeeeed that coronation Anna doll in my life!!
Fingers crossed there will be Kristoff LE doll and that I can get Anna this month from the UK site! If there's no Kristoff I might go for Elsa too~ But I am just soo close spending all my money on the green dressed Anna, she is so incredibly beautiful I might just cry! But for my liking, she's going for a bit too much money.. ;( I'm just a college student!

My goal isn't complete collection but to have the dolls I enjoy and have most connection with! I hope you don't treat me like a newbie cos I only have one doll in my collection haha! I do adore all of them tho for the details and quality. I really loved the desinger dolls as well, they are stunning! But at the time I didn't have the means to get them.

So.. I hope to comment occasionally now after my first post or "introduction"! :D Hope I don't miss a single doll I wish to have from now on~

^ You have a nice taste. ^^
I love Rapunzel, she's my second fave character and her doll is beautiful as well, which is why I finally caved in and bought her for the current price.
It doesn't really matter how many dolls you have - even if you have zero you're still more than welcome to be active here :) Guess having an opinion/interest/love for these dolls is all you need.
Welcome!

Welcome to the Forum. I'm new too!
I know how you feel... I missed out Arielle too, and The Little Mermaid is like my all time favorite Disney franchaise. x_x Rapunzel is so pretty, ur very lucky having her. I wish I would have bought Tiana back then when she was available. Also good luck in getting Anna/Elsa/Kristoff in 2 weeks. Since too many people from the uS pre-ordered them, DS only has 1000 dolls available for Europe, means 500 from each. Usually we get 1000 from each doll. And we'll probably just get like 100 Kristoff dolls, so you need to be very fast!

I have to admit I have no interest in buying the dolls (I just like to see them in your collections :-D) but I'm soooo stressed for you, really. Hope all of you be able to get the dolls :-) This hobby is so hard with limited editions and scalpers and you all are so nice. I'll be here on 18th supporting you and with luck celebrating your acquisitions. Only 10 days!!! :-D

Welcome nayaichigo and Bagcifreak be warned once you start collecting these dolls it can be very addictive! Lol, that and and a very expensive hobby by the look of things but it is fun and they are totally worth it so as a tip never second guess yourself if you have a chance to get the doll because odds are that if you take too long to decide they will sell out so fast and you will miss out and will probably regret it because their secondary market rate will just shoot right on up, especially anything frozen related.

Rumours it will be no surprise dolls released with March 18 Elsa _Anna.

Lol it is funny how now the rumor isn't that we may be getting another doll but that there may not be one at all. I think most of us are really hoping that there is one that we hope for the original rumor of having a doll to be true! Lol

i gotta say with just a week to go before the dolls are released I am finding it odd that nothing has been released by Disney yet as they usually release info on Fridays but we haven't heard anything yet. So unless they are going back to the ways of the surprise release during the mother gothel release and don't intend to notify us or we will only hear about it this Friday several days before the release then I agree that the likelihood of there being a surprise release is very slim.

I like most of you hope this will not be the case as I would love a Kristoff doll so fingers crossed we hear something soon.

Welcome!

Thank you~ I love Rapunzel too, the movie was so fresh! It really got me into Disney on a different level than before. Also the first princess I could really identify with.

Welcome to the Forum. I'm new too!

Thank you! Do you have any LE dolls or plan to get? :) I'm planning to get Ariel as soon as the Frozen craze is over with haha! Ariel is one of my favourite princesses too. I remember mum drew really big Ariel and Flounder for my 3rd or 4th bithday party! She likes the LE doll Ariel a lot too. (^ ^) And I'll be ready on the 18th!!

Thank you. :) I've started collecting dolls several years ago, so I totally know what you mean. Playline dolls from other Companies start to get very boring while Disney Store is releasing really pretty dolls with goo quality. I used to collect expensive Barbie Collector dolls, but I feel like these dolls are more worth their prices than Barbie Collector.^^

Did Disney announce Eric back then? I just remember that they showed Urusla at the 23Expo... not sure if they teased Eric before he came out. As I said, I doubt that there will be a Hans doll, but Kristoff is possible. I assume he will be limited to 1500 again, means Europe will get a very very small amount.

No probs. :) I only own some normal 12" Disney Store dolls yet inkl. the first Edition of Rapunzel with the 17" hair and both Frozen dolls, and a few other girls such as Jasmine, Pocahontas and several Ariels. The only Collector doll I own yet is Zarina. I didn't play to get her, but she was still available online several days after her release, so I decided to order her cause I really like her Design. These upcoming Frozen dolls will be my very first Limited Editions. I love Ariel, you should definitely get her. She's definitely my favorite LE, even though I don't own her yet.

@All: Is there actually any possibility to get LE Elsa in her normal dress for a decent price? I'm able to get Anna for a very good price, 200$/160€, so I actually wanted to order Elsa too cause I thought she's still available for like 200$ until I realized that she sells for over 1000$. That's insane! But I have to say, DS is kinda stupid cause they released such a small amount of those dolls. 2500 dolls aren't enough... they should re-release them with Hans, hehe. :P

Yep they sure did, they displayed him next to Ursula, both dolls were actually displayed at the expo and then officially announced on the Disney Store blog on Sep 24.

Also just to answer your other query, no, unfortunately that will be next to impossible to find, just like any collector's item that increases in value, once it goes up it is very unlikely that it will go down. Unless you find another collector that doesn't need the money and has the doll to sell because they no longer want it but the chances of that happening is very slim.

Welcome to the forum, nayaichigo and BagciFreak! :) Yes, doll collecting can be very addictive and very expensive! I started with the pre-order March Frozen, then got SQ Elsa on eBay and said that would be it...then I purchased Tinkerbell and Zarina, got the Designer Villain Evil Queen, and now I've just gone and purchased the LE purple Rapunzel this week and am anxiously waiting for her arrival. All of this in just two and a half months and I promised myself I'd stop after SQ Elsa! Coronation Anna is my next priority as soon as I recover from buying Rapunzel, I'd like to get her and complete my Frozen set before she gets even more expensive than she is. So, I kind of hope they release a surprise doll on the 18th, but I also think I will be relieved if there isn't one as I am still feeling a bit sick about the money I spent on Rapunzel. LOL.

Disney also accidentally disclosed Eric's existence in a blurb the night of Ariel's preorder (July 29th). People saw it and went crazy. Disney took it down soon after. So, technically, people knew about Eric before the D23 Expo. This time, not a DS CM's fault but their own. Bet that won't happen again anytime soon. Although, who knows, right?

I want a 17" Kristoff, although my bank account will be better off if there isn't one, but if it happens, it seems like it will be a true surprise. Nothing from Disney, at this late date, at all. It is ten days away.

So many new people - welcome! It's nice to have other fans and collectors :)

I really, really, really hope there is a Hans doll. I doubt there will be given that (like others have mentioned) his outfit is very similar to Prince Eric. I'm definitely going to keep dreaming though - worst case scenario I get to hold onto $100 for a future release.

I can't see Disney not putting at least Kristoff out though - at the end of the day they're a corporation out to make money and with the inflation of the secondary market prices I think it's pretty obvious that the dolls will sell out regardless.
