Moe's Research Questions... Please Help...
1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???
For me, it started as just a hobby... now, I have real feelings for the people on here. I have seen sorrow and joy through this forum, and everywhere you turn, there's a DPF member ready to lend an ear, give a hug, or say a prayer. This site makes me feel connected to people that share an interest with me. Since I'm disabled and can't work, DPF takes up most of my time, and I really care about the people here.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
In a technical realm, I like the layout, and the easy navigation. However, deeper than that, I love that people here are so generous and loving. I love the games, the auctions, the sales, and the chat :)

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
Well, I'd like to see a way that the site could notify you when someone comments on your thread. It would make it easier, I think... then again, there might already be a feature like that, that I just don't know about :)

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???
I would like to see the elimination of scrappers... but good luck LOL.

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life?
Ah, when I joined DPF I never knew I would become addicted to it! I am online constantly... (It's actually kinda bad. hahaha!) It keeps me informed about all the pin releases, and news while I am miles away in Texas. Everyone here is so friendly, and helpful. We are one big family!! I love all my friends I have made here.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
The members, and news. I also love the auctions!!!

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
Not too sure... :/

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be??
Pin costs, no scrappers, no camp out for members who go to DSF, A Disney park located in Texas... :3

Since joining this site in October ,I'm on way more than I should be so much so that the husband has now joined
i love the people, who are all as Disney mad as I am
i love the fun it gives, shareing ideas
i would like more storage in PM box
change the hobby? No

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

DPF is starting to be a site that I am going on every day. I keep on thinking of Disney pins now more than ever.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

I am able to look through the threads, learn about different types of pins and the pin trading/collecting lifestyle, and to get closer to enveloping myself into the Disney culture. People are very nice here, but I haven't initiated any sort of friendships yet. Probably because this is my first forum place, and I am not used to the social protocols within this space.

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

DPF is awesome. I do not know if I think this needs improvement, but I do feel that the Chatroom is very foreign to me. It isn't as organized. Again, I am not used to chat rooms, but coming into a chat where a discussion is already in progress is kind of confusing. Also, every time, it says I am running an old version of Java, even though it is already updated.

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

I would love to see more "newbie-friendly" spaces on here. Maybe an auction place designed for newbies or something. I barely started collecting pins that I get intimidated with seeing all these LE super amazing pins that I could never compete with. I mean, it is fun to see the auction in action, but I could never bid. So maybe a beginner friendly auction area may be cool. If anything, it would be cool to utilize the Hidden Mickey/Cast Member pins as a beginner auction/trading thing. I know a lot of people may not like those pins, but it would be cool to practice with them.

I would like to participate! :) here are my answers...

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???
DPF is a site that is VERY helpful when it comes to pins, example like obtaining pins, pin trading, and pin info. I come in here at least 3 times a day to check up on any new stuff and just see what's going on in the world of pin trading. I do have to say though that the more I visit the site, the more I am addicted to pins! It's like a get injected in the big bug every time I hit "log in".

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
When I started, it was the contests that got me coming back for more. Now, I would say that I like to see what people have for sale and what people are pin trading. Thanks to this site me and my boyfriend have made a lot of cool friends and also obtained some of our grails! I've gotten Zapped a few times which is nice :) The people in this site also make it welcoming! I have been active here for about 2 years or a little less and have met a lot of awesome people along the way!

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
At the moment, I can't think of any improvements that this site needs.

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???
The lines! Lines to get wristbands, lines that cause us to call in at work or miss school because we don't want to miss out on the cool stuff :( I remember when we didn't have to camp out for pins at DSF we would just show up early. I'm not even sure how it starts now - is it because people THINK that there's going to be a line so they line up and ends up causing a camp out anyway ? uhh not really sure. Also, if Disney gets a bunch of scrappers, how come they don't send those scrappers back to China so they can recycle them and make new pins out of them.. or you guys think they already do that? Maybe that's why scrappers to them aren't a big deal? But yes, this is stuff that I think about.

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

Primarily, an outlet. A way for a military wife and mom who works from home to stay connected to grown ups in a fun and personal way. It's also a way for me to stay connected to the world of Disney, which can be difficult when you don't live anywhere near the parks.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

I love the opportunity to trade/buy in a generally safe way. I love the chatting. I love the heads up on new pins coming out.

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

Really the only improvement I can think of is to bring colored fonts back to chat :) All black is boring and gets confusing/hard to follow sometimes

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

Hmm, I think everyone else kinda hit the nail/s on the head with this one and I would have to agree with most of the previous answers. But since we're only supposed to name one thing here, I'm going to have to be selfish and say I would really love more great online releases so that people who live away from the parks have a shot at some great pins from time to time, too. And along with that, maybe not have them hit in the middle of the night so that we don't all wake up in the morning to find out there was an online release while half of us were asleep :/

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

I just found this place as well as really getting serious about pin trading, but this site looks to be filled with lots of great people and a heck of a lot of information. I'm hoping it means to me one day what it means to most of you now.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

The people, the information, the pin "fix"...

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

So far so good...

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

The "business" part of it...

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

It has taken over!!! j/k. It has really been an outlet for me to get even more addicted to this hobby and my love for Disney! My entire family of 7 + 1 (son's gf) are all pin collectors. This hobby is very expensive, yet it's something that we all share a common interest in! :) I'm also very happy and blessed to have met so many members of DPF. Many in person, but many more thru trades, games, sales and purchases.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

It's very informative! You hear about new releases, status updates on events and lots of other stuff!

I love to read about the various topics in the Pin Discussion board, watching the Auction Threads, reading about all the generous people / actions thru Zap posts and Exchange games etc.

There's people from all over the world on this forum and its awesome!'

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

Less system crashes please!!! It really sucks when there's a game and/or auction that you're trying to keep up with and you then you get that "Error message!" Lol

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

Hmm... Can't think of anything right at the moment. I love DPF and the people that make it so fun! :)

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

It is one of my favorite places to go whenever I'm online!! I don't think if I had found this site I would be as addicted as I am now to Disney pins.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

Zaps!! Auctions, Games. The community just makes you feel welcome and a place of safety where you can share things and others can either lift you up in prayer or send pixie dust.

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

Keep this site free to join. I wouldn't be able to continue to join if it cost money. Maybe a way to help those who don't have that much money or that many pins find an easier way to getting their pins without having to pay so much. That's really limited my access to pins. I'm newer since May of 2012 and don't have much experience and hardly any money. I see all these really cool pins but no way can I ever get some of them because I don't have really any limited edition pins that are worth anything. If I could get maybe a mentor that could help me in finding pins that would be good traders to get some of the pins I really wanted that would be great... So maybe like a Mentorship on this site. :)

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

I really like the one time that Disney actually made you put in your name and email address to see if you would be picked to get a certain pin that was coming out. I think that would make it more fair. After a certain time of day though if you aren't able to make it then it should be a free for all. :) Less scrappers/counterfeits on CM lanyards. Pins not so expensive.

I just wanna pop in real quick and address any concerns about the site being a paid site -- as I mentioned in an old thread, THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN! The site will always be free, but the idea of "DPF Gold" has been entertained and will be a voluntary subscription that will grant some additional features and stuff like that. Even if this does happen, "free" users will not lose any benefits or features they currently have, so don't worry about being "kicked out of the club"!

As always, THANK YOU to everyone for voicing their concerns and this thread is infinitely helpful in helping us identify where we need to focus our efforts in order to make your experience better!

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???
It means that I'm usually procrastinating doing something else! I'm on the sit all the time and it feeds my pin addiction. I have met a ton of awesome people through this site though. I actually made of my best pin friends just because I started picking her up dsf PTD pins a couple years ago. I love having DPF around because I always know I can find out when pins are being released, I can find great pin deals, and there are always more people to meet and trade with!
2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
My favorite parts are the super up to date release and event info. Having updates at events and before events or releases is so awesome! :) I also love the fun games and auctions!!!

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
Hmmmm.... Everyone keeps talking about server crashes, but I've never been inconvenienced by them, so... No complaints there. I can't think of anything major right now.
4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???
I want more pin trading nights, more big events in CA, and more opportunities to get together as DPF to trade and hang out.

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

It means FUN! It means great people! And it also means the best way to get great pins and to make people happy by getting them pins that they want. (The majority of my pin purchases and trades have been through DPF-- it feels much safer trading and buying on here, where there's more of a sense of permanence and you can talk to people and get to know them a little.)

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

Absolutely the people. I know there's a bit of fighting now and then, but that's true in any family, isn't it?

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

The server issues do need to be fixed. Also I very much like another idea I saw mentioned in this thread-- an easily accessible news page for news about new pins and such. I know there are threads for it (I subscribe to a couple) but they often scroll off and disappear... and of course they're at the mercy of whomever notices pins and happens to have time to post a thread. If there were a moderator whose only job was that, maybe? I dunno, it would be a lot to ask of anyone, but... I keep finding out way late about new things. It'd be great to centralize that somehow.

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

Nothing that DPF has the power to control, really. I sure wish something could be done about all the scrapper sellers and counterfeit sellers, but what could really be done? It's like a Hydra, you cut off one head, another springs up in its place...

I definitely wish that Disney had much more in the way of online offerings. I hear tales of the old days and it makes me wistful!

Also wouldn't it be grate if Disney Soda Fountain had other branches? Or if ALL the Disney Stores sold pins?

oki

1. This site is better than Facebook , this site is better than facebook, I spend a great time here, and I can connect with people anywhere.
2.Friends! There are many good people here!
3.Runs very well for me, I'm not pretentious, so can add whatever you want!
4. The scrapers ,burn them all, is very difficult for me to get pins, and still get more original pins!

1. I came to DPF when Joette had to stop Dizpins.com and I LOVE it! I get on several times a day and it never ceases to amaze me how friendly and awesome the people on here are! It has been a great experience. I have been Disney pin trading for 10 years in June of this year and I have seen this hobby wane and I have seen it rise and now is one of the most exciting times I have seen pin trading as a whole so I am VERY THANKFUL for DPF!!

2. The people!!! The contests!!! The people!!! The trade auctions!!! The people!!! Um...the people!!!

3. There have been server issues of late, but other than that, I think is is wonderful!!

4. Not one thing that DPF can control, but I would have princess pins actually be released at the September pin event in WDW...3 years have gone by without one princess pin at the event. Also, I would definitely bring back Disney Auctions and their big, beautiful pins!!! I miss DA bad!!

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???
The site introduced me to a hobby I really want to get involved with. All the people here who sell and trade all these rare and cool looking pins is so cool.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
This is the place to keep updated on everything disney, really. Everyone is so knowledgeable with Disney like me and pins is the highlight part. I love hearing everyone's pin stories(from 'the pin that got away' to the 'epic triumph').

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
I love it the way it is right now, cant really think of anything right now/

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???
Couldnt really fix this but as a PA guy its crazy hard to buy pins without paying a little more (shipping and other fees) so its hard to put together a nice collection. So my change would be a pin store (like My D-Pins out there in CA) or even my dream plan to have a DSF on South Street in Philadelphia. I mean come on how awesome, right? I would be able to gather pins for my collection and help out my friends here on DPF. Plus im jealous of the campout stories all you guys have out there on the west coast lol. No wonder all you guys are practically family!

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???
DPF has made pin collecting so much more enjoyable! Not only have I been able to make great trades and purchases here, but I've loved seeing other members collections and helping members find their most wanted pins. :hsd:

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
My favorite thing is the members and the kiindness that only keeps growing. Many are upbeat, and sometimes are just the smile or joke you need during an especially long day ^.^

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
I don't really thing there needs to be much improvements- the one suggestion I may offer is if there could be a way to find upcoming pins and current releases more easily? It can be hard to find dsf, wdi and park releases at times based on how the threads are named or where they are placed.

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???
I would love pins to be more affordable and more available to online collectors. Not to say I don't mind the exclusives, because some of them can be fun to quest after. But it would be nice if we had more us online releases again to give out of towners some few good traders. :)

Hope this helps!!

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???

To me it's friends and community. I joined this forum during the Mulan PoDM release to complete a trade. I started going on DPF very heavily this last month and I must say I LOVE it here and the community!! Almost everybody is very kind, warm, caring, and altruistic. It is very cool to be on here and chit chat w/ others, whether it's Disney related or not. For me it is not only my hobby, but a social group that I can enjoy!! DPF is also a place where I can find some great pins for trade, sale, or being auctioned off, as well as knowledge. I only used to trade when I went to the parks, but DPF has opened my horizons to trading w/ others both locally and around the world.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???

I love the trade auctions, as well as browsing the pins for sale. In the trade auctions I either see pins I have never seen before or really want and now have a chance of getting. When I have seen pins for sale as of late they are from reputable people (traders) and the pins are typically from their collections, are authentic, and sold at fabulous prices!! Much better, more fun, and at times safer than ebay. I only wish I had more money to be able to grab some great bargains here  haha

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???

Hmm well it would be nice if the site didn't crash as much lol Others would include less drama related stuff (don't know how much control can be placed on that per se) and maybe improved PM options?? It gets annoying and kinda crazy trying to organize PMs and such when there's a limit to how much can be saved/archived lol

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???

Idk if it's possible, but I would love to see if the scrapper/fake/counterfeit issues w/ the hobby can be dealt w/ more efficiently. I think that's actually more of an Ebay/DLR issue.... it's scary how in the last few years how good they counterfeits and fakes have become; some of them u cannot tell the difference unless the real pin is in front of u.

Increased edition sizes to pins would be cool too... so we're not killing one another for LE 125's, 100's or anything like that. And perhaps if Disney Auctions and/or Disney Shopping returned.... again... don't know how realistic these requests are but it's nice to dream lol XD

1. What does the DPF site mean to you in your life???
To me it's a great way to meet new pin friends. I am retired and don't get out a lot and this is a good place to "converse" with other pin collectors. I like to trade and this is an additional way to make new trades. I enjoy reading the threads and seeing what is going on in other places.

2. What are your favorite things about DPF that makes this site a place you like to visit???
Seeing what's new in the pin world is why I come to DPF.

3. What improvements would you like to see in the future of our site???
Less auctions. The new threads are mostly auctions and there seems to be less conversation. Server issues are also very annoying.

4. If there was any one thing that you would like to see changed in how things pertaining to our beloved hobby are handled, what would that be???
I would like to see more of the way pin trading used to be, where traders helped each other and it wasn't all about how much money could be made. When people used to be kind and courteous to each other and trading was more equal. From Disney, I'd like to see them admit there is a scrapper issue and actually try to do something about it. Ignorance is not bliss.
