Okay so I'm redoing my room soonish and I've been trying to decide if I want to start using pin boards to display all my keepers. I'm just not sure. I'm worried about pins falling off and getting broken, but it does seem a ton easier to rearrange pins and add pins.
Also, I might want to frame pins when I've completed small collection (ex. my Bolt pins), but the only problem is what happens when a new pins is released that should go in the frame but it's too late?
Any thoughts and tips and pros to having a pin board?

Yeah I have small OCD so my pins have to be like perfectly straight, not necessarily aligned, but it's hard in the pin bags to get them all perfectly straight and not touching each other. So the boards would be easier to manage that..
 
I have the exact same board as Chillikitty It's really a great size, and the pins pop right in and out. Of course, it leaves visible holes on mine. Not sure if that's standard, but I figured it would be worth mentioning! Good luck!
 
I tried the white painting canvas but the pins are more loose because the "canvas" is so thin but that makes it easy to take them in and out/ rearrange. Also you can add a background to it or even paint one! I also tried cork board but I don't really like it because its sooooo hard to get the pins out! I'm literally afraid I will break the posts off!!! Thus, I'm using the memory foamish chloroplast now which is soft but thick enough. Let us see when you're done (Also, I haven't seen the TV Dalmatian pin in a lonnnnngggg time on the bay but I'll let you know when I see it! I can't even find completed listings! I've typed everything too! Hope you get it soon, its beautiful )

Yeah I'm always paranoid that I'm going to end up breaking a post on one of my pins..that would just be awful But you have some great ideas and the tv pin looks amazing o__o thank you soooo much for offering to help watch out for it on ebay! That really means a lot you have it right??

Disxar, my top 'frame' is actually a canvas with a picture glued to it and a matte board frame glued to it.

The Brave frame is thin cardboard with felt wrapped over it.

The Scar frame is foam core board with concept art glued to it.


All of our other pins are on cork boards.



I like making frames, because it's fufilling to be able to see the pins you worked so hard to obtain on display. The Scar fram is actually my old lion king one, with the foam core board just turned around with new stuff glued to it. What's nice about shadow boxes is if you use a foam core board, they come in huge sizes for very cheap, so you cut what you want, then store the rest of it, make your frame, and when you want to change it...flip it over OR just cut a new piece!
 
I have a very awesome Lion King board made by the one and only Echoharmony! I have some LK pins on it! No pins have fallen off.

For my UP pins I have them in shadow boxes that I bought from Michael's. They were on sale- in fact they might still be on sale. But what I did was get cork board that fit the dimensions (11x17) and painted them light blue, and got those double sided sticker things to keep the board in place! Very easy to display. Yes I do (sorry! At least we won't be in competition trying to get it right?) I love it because there are soooo few Thunderbolt pins (diehard 101 Dalmatians fan here. Go Kanine Krunchies!) and I'm pretty sure I'm never going to get a PODM or this Beloved Tales pin with the "Thunderbolt Scene" of the whole family so I'm extremely lucky and grateful to have it. I wish there were more Sgt. Tibbs pins too Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get it soon! (and you Lion King stampede one too!)
 

Haha omg you're so lucky! How did you get it?? and omg me too! The kanine krunchies commercial is adorable :3 I'm trying to complete the 101 Dalmatians so hopefuly I'll get it one day xD as for sgt. tibbs, arntthere only like 2 pins for him? And I want more of the colonel and all the messenger dogs x) And the stampede pin...it's no. where. to.be. found. That's why it's my grail I guess xD I've only seen one person on here who actually has it and I have never seen it ever on sale...but hopefully one day

Never had trouble with pins falling out. When I get a new pin, I put it aside, and when I get time I sit down and rearrange my pins to make it fit in a pretty way. I guess its a bit irritating in an OCD way, making everything look perfect again, but I enjoy it, too.
 

hmmm solution to thin canvas... perhaps a layer of black felt over it? You could choose color that way too.
 
I was super lucky and got mine last September (woah lol) on the bay. It was my second attempt because there is another youtuber like us who collects 101 Dalmatians (I think his channel is disneypinsrock? also collects aristocats and lady and tramp) and I think he was the one who outbid me lolol! But the only time I saw it completed listing it sold for $20!!! What a steal! I just wonder if I'm typing it wrong? I search "DLR Artists Choice 101 Dalmatian" and versions of that or 101 Dalmatians Jumbo Pin (I've even tried DalmatiON because people spell it wrong too lolol!) I'll keep an eye out like Cruella keeping an eye out for the puppies (just a teensie bit less psychotically crazy manically murderously obsessed)

I got a couple frames from Michael's, along with pieces of corkboard and coloured foam sheets. My issue was that I don't like the look of cork, so I couldn't just get a straight corkboard. The coloured foam sheets cover the cork, and the whole thing is cut to fit in the frame (which is 8x10). The only thing that doesn't work so well is that when you rearrange the pins, the holes in the foam don't seal, but the stuff is so cheap that you can just pick up extras and replace it with a fresh one if you have everything where they're going to stay. So far I have not had any fall out or be in danger of breaking.
 
I am actually using canvas to display my pins. While the canvas itself is thin, if you get pre-stretched canvas (you can stretch it yourself) it will be incredibly tight and the pins stay on fine. You just have to make sure you put their backings on them. I also put some of my heavier pins in the wood frame. I have never broken or bent a pin by doing that. It keeps the pins more secure as well. It is however, a pain to remove the pins from the wood. I have also used cork boards and I never had a pin fall off it. However, if you rearrange the pins a lot, there will be holes and after awhile the cork board becomes pretty useless.
 
I would go with canvas, you can get all different sizes, you can paint them really easily to show off the pins and they are easier to hang. In my experience I have never had a pin fall off the board. I used a cork board once but I wouldnt advise it, they can make the pin part wonky and if you try to reposition pins it can be really scary if they get stuck in there good and tight whereas the pins go realy easily through canvas.
