Swap Box around the USA

I know I would love to participate again.. I know I don't have enough pins to start a box. As for the date of joining I am sure it should be adjusted up. I would have to look back at the sign ups to see how long a person had to be a member here at that time.

Starry said before anyone can start a box. If someone wants to start one let me know and we can help iron out the details.

I didn't participate last time, but have a ton of traders. I'd be happy to start one. I'll have to go look up what it starts with, though.

And just my thought . . . but there were about 2 1/2 sides of OE and HM pins . . . we'd have loved if there had been a bunch more of the OE/HMs, too. :) But, anything is fun!

Also . . . don't know if this could be a "thing" . . . but if it could work out to go together with someone, we could start part of the box and do the OE/HM and possibly LR, if someone wanted to do the LE part. And then at the end, they could get the LEs and we could get the OE/HM/LR, just like we'd start it. Just to put that out . . .

I would love to participate in this. :) Would it be possible for us to somehow co-op a box. Each of us send 'x' amount of pins to the Starting person? I'm not sure how it would sift out in the end though.

I don't know, but we could do OE and HMs, and possibly LR, if someone could do LE and wanted to do it with us.

So, I think there is some type of misunderstanding going on, based upon the PMs I received.

Anyone is welcome to start their own swap box with these rules or their own rules.

I posted this thread after I found one person willing to start the swap box; then another person posted that they were also willing to start a different swap box.

UPDATED RULES (rather than changing post #1, I figured I should post it here too so I have a reference to copy & paste):

1. Must be in the USA and have a USA mailing address;
2. Must be a DPF member prior to December 31, 2020;
3. Must have a feedback score of 9 or more. If the member has negative feedback, said negative feedback had to have been posted prior to December 31, 2020;
4. Must be active on DPF within the past two weeks. Active means logging in and posting;
5. Pin trades must be like for like. OE, Loungefly, Hidden Mickey/Disney, Mystery bag pins are considered the same (small). Limited Release [LR] (medium) for LR or two of the small pins;
6. Limited edition pins 750 (large) and under must be traded within $10 value;
Please check eBay sold (within the past three months) for value. If more than one of that pin sold, then do an average of the last three pins sold. We are all aware that the hype when pins are first released dies down, LOL. If you are unsure of the value of the pin you want to trade into the box versus the one that you want to trade out of the box, please contact a moderator.
7. Limited edition pins 751 and over (large) must be traded within 1000 of that number. For example, LE2000 can be traded to LE1000 or up to LE3000;
So, basically this means that OE, Loungefly, Hidden Mickey/Disney, Mystery bag pins are considered small, Limited Release pins are considered medium, and Limited Edition pins are considered large.
8. Pins are traded 1:1 (to clarify: one LE pin for one LE pin, one OE, Loungefly, Hidden Mickey/Disney, Mystery bag pin for one OE, Loungefly, Hidden Mickey/Disney, Mystery bag pin, one LR pin for one LR pin), except as noted above where LR pins which one LR pin can be traded for two small (OE, Loungefly, Hidden Mickey/Disney, Mystery bag) pins.;
9. All pin boards must be labeled; If you see a pin label has fallen off, please replace it;
10. NO SCRAPPERS. If the pin you are trading into the box has known scrappers and you did not personally purchase the pin direct from the source or a reputable seller, please don't trade it into the box.
11. Pins must be in the same area that you are taking from;
12. Please share what your trade haul is so we can all enjoy seeing what you pick. This means you post pictures of the pins you traded for that were in the box. Don't post pictures of the contents of the box or what you traded into the box.
13. Trades are limited to no more than 30% from each of the 3 groups (small, medium, large);
14. You must be willing to send your address to the DPF member who is sending it to you;
15. If you have the original card for your pin, please add it to the box. There should be ziploc-type bags with original cards in there. Note on the back of the pin (with a post-it or sticker) that there is an original card and note on the card, which pin it is for).
16. All pin boards are bubble wrapped. If you notice that the bubble wrap has gone flat, please be courteous and replace it.
17. Please keep your pin backs. The pins on the boards won't come with the rubber backs.
18. Box must be shipped priority (priority mail flat rate medium box is what the box is sent, but it may be cheaper to send "regular" priority, depending on how far the person you are sending it to is from you);
19. Box must be shipped out within 7 days after you have received it.

The person who receives the box from you should be as excited to open it as you were… so please trade with that in mind.

MORE INFORMATION

For low LE pins, your trade should be a comparable and fair trade in value. Value fluctuates, but for example, if you take a pin which varies from $40 to $60, you should replace with a pin which varies from $40 to $60, not with a pin which varies from $30-45 (even if they both sold once recently for 45, this doesn’t make them comparable). Since you will be showing your proposed trade to a mod, when you aren’t sure, it’s good to have a discussion about what’s reasonable. Ultimately if the answer is “I’d be equally happy having either one of these as a trader” then it is a great trade to make!

Also if every pin is down traded by $5, that means if the person who started the box puts a $60 pin in, they get a $10 pin back. None of us want to nickel and dime about trades but we do want this to be fun for everyone and we do want others to be excited to start boxes in the future!

Again, since values aren’t precise, no need to go completely nuts on the granular, but make sure your trade on average is fair. If you trade 3 LE pins and two are a down trade, make the third an over trade.

We all know which pins are great traders and which aren’t our best so whether you are the person trading or the two people approving the trade value, just be reasonable and use your best judgment.

EVEN MORE INFORMATION (ADDED 8/20 AT 5:38 P.M. PACIFIC TIME)

How many pins are in the swap box?
It depends on who starts the swap box, but the ones I have been in have approximately 200-300 pins in the box. We have been using three Kraken pages (front and back) as well as hand-made pages (usually made of hard cardboard, maybe foam) and the distribution has been as follows: 2 sides of high LE pins (parks, DA, DS), 2 sides of low LE pins (DSSH, WDI, DA, DEC), 2 sides of OEs/LRs, and then 3-4 hand-made pages with OE pins. Really, what fits in a medium flat rate size box.

We may use Pinfolio or other pages as well.

Keep your pin backs: All pins in the box do not have pin backs (the rubber Mickeys or other types). This means you may end up with pins that don't have pin backs if the pin you trade into the box has one pin post but the pin you take out of the trade box has two pin posts. But, we will try to add some extra pin backs in the swap box.

Add the cards: If you have the original card for the pin you are trading into the box, please add it to the box. There are ziploc bags that are marked with cards. We also mark the back of the pin with a sticker to indicate whether there is a card in the ziploc bag (there are usually 2-3 of the ziploc bags in there).

Use bubble wrap: Each pin board is wrapped in bubble wrap. If you see that it has degraded by the time it gets to you, please use different bubble wrap.

Hello everyone. Starry_Solo asked if I would be interested in starting a 4th Swap Box. I wanted to see who would be interested as we currently have a 3rd Swap box thanks to Firechief18 starting soon and a lot of us signed up to participate in this one. Is there enough interest in a 4th box now or would you rather wait until Swap 3 completes?

I'd be game for another . . . . doing two isn't a bother, as it takes a couple or even a few months for one to make the trips around from start to finish!

I'd be happy to do join you as well. I am part of #3, but this is really exciting since I hardly ever get to trade.

I'm game to participate in another box.
I figure two weeks per participant, which would be 36 weeks before the box makes it home.

I would also love to participate in a concurrent swap box (I'm also signed up for #3)! It's so fun to trade, especially since I haven't been able to the majority of the events for the last few years.
