WDW WDW: Fairy Tails annual pin trading event Aug 9-10, 2019

The ability to buy 2 is a bit tricky. On one side, it cuts the number of people who can actually log on and get it down to just 50. (Well, at least 51 since I only needed 1. :D) Which isn't great. But, without it, couples would have a hard time. As this verbatim discussion with my wife just now went:

Her: "Well, if I go with you to the event again some year, you can just get the regular ticket for me."
Me: "But they have separate lines for registering and getting in and such so you wouldn't be able to go with me on those."
Her: "Oh. Well, that's okay, maybe I'll go to WDW with you and just go enjoy myself in the parks while you do your little pin thing."
Such a special relationship. :D

Really?! No, that can't be right. They never sold out same day before. It's always weeks later. I am betting someone is mixing up the two ticket types.

Hahah! I definitely see the purpose in it. I just think it's the one aspect of an otherwise solid execution that can be exploited. But I do see its good intention. So if that's my only complaint about the process (other than the fact that tiers exist at all), I can't complain much. :)

I opened a tab after the line had started and it was 1608, so if everyone went to go register after not getting in it makes sense.

*nods* I bet what happened is that in the past, with only one pass level, people knew they had some time to register so wouldn't necessarily be on right at registration open to get their pass. With this two-tier system, most people who want to attend would have been on trying to get Best in Show, and when it sold out they registered for Furry Friends right then.
 
I wouldn't be surprised if the whole event sold out today.

The reason I got up and got registered, even though I usually wait, was for two reasons:

1.) As someone said above, all the people trying to get BiS already had the tab open and credit cards out, so they just went ahead and registered.

and

2.) I've noticed an uptick in people coming to these events and into pin trading in general. Every year I get a little more worried about events selling out on me.

And if I was up to register early when it's not normally when I do it, then maybe everyone else like me was, too, and that's why we're sold out (IF we are sold out).

It's a far cry from 2010, when it seemed like pin trading was dying out, isn't it?
 
I get stressed out with every online release but the queue system does seem to help. At least no crashes this time.

I'm shocked that the regular package sold out too. Maybe the popularity of the theme this year is part of it?

So you can only buy 2 with the best in show package but not for the furry friends?
