So... it seems like hardly anyone is collecting Stitch anymore. Stitch, Alice, Cheshire and Jessica used to be the big 'wants' and now it seems like it's all Tangled and Brave. :eek2:

Am I wrong? Or what did I miss while off the boards?

I'm hoping that my collecting Maleficent and Haunted Mansion will make those pins so uncool that the prices go way down.

I'm not complaining. Tired of those old collections. There's a new generation of traders that have exploded in the last 2-2.5 years. They want Tangled, Brave, Up, Wall-E, princesses. Pretty much the pixar movies they grew up with. The princesses will always be popular, Little Mermaid, BatB, Cinderella are classics for every little girl.

The AIW live action with Johnny Depp was a bust and failed to reinvigorate the genre with youger collectors. Peter Pan is kind of old except for Tink which every little girl loves and she is always featured on items from hats to totes to shirts to candy. Maybe the 60th anniv. will help Pan but I'm not too sure. Jessica feels so 80's to me. I was born in the 80's but she's kinda represents those awful 80's glam photo's women still hang up in their house with crazy big hair, overly blushed cheeks, frosted vignettes.
Stitch I feel was just over done the last 10 years and is tired. It's too much to get into. Too many LE100's. The same can be said for Tink I suppose but she has seemed to stand the test of time better than Stitch. Even though I think Stitch is still popular. I just get Stitch to trade away. And he usually goes quick. So Stitch is still popular.

I think the main problem with stitch nowadays are the counterfits...I remember I use to collect stich when we first started and i always use to get asked questions about where i got it from..who i traded it from..just a bunch of shady questions u know? i think that may have un-popularized Stitch somewhat.

I still LOVE Stitch!

This!!! :like: +1

I blame Jenna :D Since I have been on here it seems like Stitch and Tink do not do well in the pin auctions unless it is an ultra rare pin. When I am trading at Disneyland I almost always have a run on Tink and Stitch. But I also try to have the more common versions of them so I don't have to tell people no. Pin trading isn't fun unless I am actually trading pins. Even if it is for different traders.

Man, Jenna I know exactly how you feel...

Ever since i started telling people I collect horses and HoND, it seems like more and more people are doing it too.

We are the trend setters. Such is the life of the popular chicks huh?

I'm still a Stitch collector, too but some of his best pins are almost as pricey and hard to get as Tangled *cough* guest star Stitch *cough* so in the meantime (you know, just until I win the lotto and then find a formerly hidden stash of rare Stitch pins) most of us Stitch collectors have to work on other collections, too.

I blame myself. I started collecting Tangled, and Brave now everyone wants to be like me. :coffee:

lol Let's go! Put it to the test!!! Start a Darla collection!!! lol Imagine if she became the in thing? No arguments on my side haha xD

I definitely agree, although Tangled pins at the moment are higher on average than Stitch pins, even the guest start Stitch pins don't go for too much (the Ariel one which I consider the most wanted recently went for $62, nothing close to what a Tangled pin would go for). However, I still agree that some Stitch pins go for A LOT!!! (Stitch Da Vinci went for hundreds...never gonna get that one).

I'm primarily a Kingdom Hearts and Stitch collector, and I agree with catburger, Stitch really took a hit when most of the best pins couldn't be figured out anymore :( With any set where a lot of counterfeits are made, the set never reaches its full potential (the WDI Princess and Prince on Thrill Ride pins are a great example. I think that Tangled pin is one of the better Tangled pins in existence but it never goes over $100 because there is no way to identify the scraper from the authentic, the scraper is near perfect for the whole set). Personally, I don't mind it though, the lowered prices only detracts from the prices I would have to pay, but Stitch collecting is quite difficult. Between, the sheer amount of pins (you can't collect all Stitch pins, that's like trying to collect all Mickey pins) and the prices of some, Stitch has really gone down in popularity to make way for other fads ^_^

When I started collecting all I wanted was stitch. Stitch le 100's, Stitch Disney Auctions, Stitch Disney Shopping, I wanted it all. I began to realize that there are just so many stitch pins! So now I just really use them for traders.

As a new Stitch collector, I'm starting to feel this way. There are just too many around every corner. I mean, sure there are some I have I love and will never give up (Stitch Morning, Stitch as Cheshire Cat DA, Stitch and Scrump, etc.) I'm going to have to run through my wants list soon and seriously decrease it. Between the few princess set I like, the Stitch pins, and the WiR pins that come out, I'm pretty swamped so I'm probably going to really cut down on my Stitch Wants over the weekend reading this thread haha xD

I collect Stitch an find that his pins are still quite expensive and some are really hard to find.

So why is the Minnie as Alice pin I want so badly still so doggone expensive!!!???

Did you find one up for sale!?! I've yet see one up for sale. Then again, I've only been trading for 6 months now. She's a Japan pin and really hard to find.

... Now my whole life makes sense.

In the words of my boy, Marshall Bruce Mathers... the third....

And there's a million of us just like me
