So right... I feel bad for the folks who are not in socal. FYI: not all of us think you guys are beggars, leeches, greedy, or the reason prices spike. The only problem i see with telling everyone "if you want a pin post a wanted thread" is that then there would be 50 new wanted threads every release and they would all get lost in the shuffle of that forum. I see no problem with people posting a quick reply to a release thread saying "Want this, please keep me in mind for a trade."

Maybe a solution would be to make 1 wanted thread for a release, and everyone who is interested can reply to it. the OP could always add the names of those who want it to the OP. AND even mark it off as pretrades are set up? Do a title like: "Wanted; Window to the magic Cinderella, Primary thread." And anyone who wants it can go there to try and set up pretrades, purchases or to offer it to those who want it.

What would you guys think of this kind of "wanted" thread in the trade forum? *using the june cindy release as an example*

My thought is this format::

Wanted: WttM Cinderella June: Master trade list

This is not a first come first serve list.

It is meant to assist folks in getting together for trade of this specific pin.
If you wish to purchase or sell the pin please post in the sales forum.

The pin for this wanted via trade list is: WttM Cinderella.
Release date: June 16th

I like it. I think this would definitely help clear out the discussion thread, and keep it to just that, discussions. As chipdale123 pointed out, it must be frustrating to have to sift through all of our cries for help to see what is actually happening in the release for those who are physically going. I really think this would help clean things up and keep some order to the discussion topic. This would also prevent from 100,000 new threads being opened, which can help prevent from burying sale/wanted posts of non-new releases.

The only concern I have is, how long will a "Help with the ____ new release" thread be considered "new" enough to warrant posting in the big thread? (I hope that makes sense)
For example, lets use the Iron Man 3 release. How long would the pins have to be out for, for people to have to post in this type of thread? Eventually the hype will die down from any release, so I would suggest a set amount of time that it is "required" or "suggested" that people searching post in this type of thread.

A point being brought up already is that people who get on the list first might not get first dibbs and that would upset them... we need to discuss this concern, and the concern that people might get upset if they see a separate thread for sale or something of the pin that is not this thread.
 
This is a great idea. I don't see anyone having 'dibs'/priority based on when they post, because everyone is free to trade/buy/sell with whomever they wish...the lists would just be a quick reference to find out who wants to buy/sell/trade a pin.
 
I like the idea a lot.One of the pros I see is that individual "wanted" threads scroll pretty quickly off the "new posts" page (which let's face it, many of us use more often than anything else). One big "wanted" thread instead of many individual ones would mean it's kept in view longer, more people will see it.We could try to do first-come-first-served for purchases, but there's really no way to do that for trades; Let's say you have one of the new release pins, and I'm first but I have nothing in your wants, the second person has a few of your wants but nothing you feel strongly about, and the third person down is offering one of your grails... it's not fair to make you take anything but the trade that makes you happiest. But that's really no different from people making individual threads. At least everyone's requests will get more eyes on them.Actually even for purchases... prices might vary, and people are going to want the best price they can get; attempting to make it first-come-first-served might not be fair in that way either. (And really that would not be an enforceable thing anyway.)What if the thread was done this way: people can post both "I want this pin and I will trade/buy/both for it", and "I have this pin for trade/sale/both", but then the actual working out of prices/trades is done by PM only? I like the idea. I do check "whats new" a lot to see where the action is, and this keeps it all nice and contained.
 
I like this idea :) On a somewhat related note I would love to see a PTD master post, it would help for keeping track of the current one too.
 
I love the idea of a master list but I think the listing should just be a helpful tool to find traders. I don't think it should be a priority thing because, lets be honest, not everyone here is best friends. (although I love everyone!) We shouldn't force priority ranking on people who just want to trade with those people that they consider valued traders. (Does that even make sense? LOL)

I totally agree with this!! I don't have a lot of low LE traders, but DSF is very close to where I live. I go when I can afford it. A Master Post would help big time, since my Wants list only gets bigger & bigger. :)

I like the idea of a "master" list for each release, and agree about it being a kind of short reference list vs. a hard "first come, first trade/purchase" list. It should clean up the forum a bit, so long as people remember these are just pins and not to get any feelings hurt.
 
I do think it would be silly to say that the list should go in first come/first served order. I got the new pins and I want to trade, but before I offer them up to the forum, I check with people who have hooked me up in the past. It would be easier/faster to skim a master list for familiar names than to PM all my peeps and wait back for replies.
 
then were would the people who couldn't trade and wanted to buy or purchase post? just asking. The only way I can see as a down to it. If it's the same people asking every time. IMO and this is just part of my own feelings. I tried to limited it to the ones I really want. Because it seems like it's some of the same people every time sometimes. I may be the only one who notices though. I am pretty flexible though. I just roll my eyes and move on. lol
 
I'm all for it! I really don't want to be seen as a beggar, and I oh-so-want all of the PTD pins! I wish I could hook up with someone on a permanent I will buy it arrangement! Barring that, I'd love for there to be a one-stop spot to try to find them. Thanks for starting this!

Since PTD pins are what I'm actively seeking right now, I would be on there every time. I'm sorry it makes you roll your eyes.....

The OP would put the post then people respond? Or is this going to cause a flurry of PMs to the people who say they can pick-up, etc.? It seems to be me that is the point of a wanted thread, are people going to then just post that they want the pin (or can pick-it up) in the first thread? Would they be limited to that thread? Probably not, so all it does is create a thread for people to put they want the pin, then they create their own thread, and etc. It sounds like it's just one extra thread.
