Ok... Please don't anyone pass out from shock or anything, but I just don't get it. Why is stitch SO popular?

I just bought the movie, but I have to admit that I haven't ever seen it. I know.... It's amazing that someone in the USA hasn't actually ever seen the stitch movie, but it's true.

So... Is it the movie that makes everyone love this character, or what?

I go gaga for him because he is exactly like my dog. Flufly and cute when he wants lol and then a crazed beast whenever he wants something lol. hahaahha It's more of sentimental reason for me.

I agree about not understanding the craze, but then I just have to reason it with people wonder the same thing about me and winnie the pooh. Full grown adult who buys EVERYTHING that is created winnie the pooh. I think I might have to watch the moive again though too. I would immagine that if I rewatch the movie I will see that Stitch is no different than my cat and/or dog. LOL.

I don't collect stitch but I admit I just adore him - he's just too cute I blame it on my first trip to WDW, I went home with a plush stitch lol

I really like the movie. The previews didn't exactly do the best job of showcasing the movie. But it's basically about how life isn't perfect, can be downright hard/unfair at times, and that family is more than just blood. Stitch starts out being a terror, but what do you expect from something that was created by a scientist? But when he meets Lilo he starts to change. And he's so earnest at times, and then his inner demons take over for a time. But at the end of the day, he's got a good soul. And he's so cute and fluffy! I think there is a lot that people can relate to with the various characters in the movie. And I just love the watercolor look that they used.

1. He's naughty!
2. He's equally as adorable!
3. He reminds people of their pets!
4. He's the ugly duckling that you can't help but love!

Watch the movie and I think you will get it. It makes me cry when he says he is lost and waiting for family!

I didn't understand either until I watched the movie. I learned to just like him a lot from the movie...
Then I started seeing pins that were really cute...which peaked my interest..
Then I met him at WDW and had so much fun! Definitely the best character interaction I've had at WDW.
And Stitch had my heart from there. (I don't collect Stitch as I refuse to add another "category" but you will see several OE or HM Stitch on my traders b/c I am drawn to them every time I see them on a cast members lanyard)

Watch the movie. Seriously. Maybe there is room in your heart for the love of Stitch too!

I really love the movie, but you gotta admit, the pins are so creative. The Stitch Invasion pins and him dressed as other characters is a-dorable.

I realize Stitch reminds everybody of their pets. But, let me introduce my son:

I never, never leave him alone with a screwdriver - he almost dismantled my frig last time; terrorizes his sister and the dogs. But, makes me melt when he holds up his arms and says "I love you mommy" - I'm such a sucker.

for me I can relate to being the odd one out.
stitch is the trouble you get in, and the family that forgives .
and it reminds everyone that family is also what you make it.

As for pins, I think Stitch is a popular character because he can get away with ANY emotion, and have it still seem like his character. So, there is a wide range of designs out there.

Besides he is adorable. :3

As an all around fan of WDC, I can form a viewpoint that only in Asia and for pin traders is Stitch really popular. In the parks he has a bad name and it's not like he was any part of the 90's. So, yeah. Plus I think the original art he gets helps along with the tie ins with other movies.

This! The sheer range of Stitch pins, and the creativity that goes into so many of them, is outstanding. I'm in the sad boat of having never seen the movie (I'll get around to it some day, I swear), but there are still a bunch of Stitch pins on my wants.

JD - i FINALLY saw the movie a few months ago...totally loved it. i would highly recommend you get around to it sooner rather than later. =)

Seriously, there's like... a shameful, shameful list of Disney movies I never saw. I haven't seen Lilo and Stitch; I haven't seen Up; I haven't seen WALL-E... Crystal and Dan just shake their heads when I broach the subject.

I imagine I might get a slightly better reaction if I told them that I never learned to read or something.

also didn't see Wall-E or Up until last year...wow. amazing. you must must see them. i just watched princess and the frog finally the other day, also a great one. i haven't seen ones like hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, emperor's last groove, etc., just personally don't really have a desire to watch them. but there are some that i haven't seen that i DO want to, like Mulan, Robin Hood, The Incredibles, Sword in the Stone...

you know how to read?!? wow, jealous. I'm still working on that...lol

Cause he's cute trouble probably
Though I much prefer the anime and even the US animated series to any of the movies, absolutely DESPISE Lilo and all the human characters involved in the original storyline/plot (Anime gives stitch a new family)

Omg Hercules and Emperors New Groove are awesome! you should watch them

I never really got the who Stitch thing either. Everyone also went on and on about the movie and how they cried, but I don't really know what part is that sad, it's definitly not a movie I can watch over and over. He is a cute character but I guess I never jumped on the Stitch bandwagon.

I saw Lilo and Stitch when it first came out, and since then I have watched the other 3 movies, all of the TV show and all of the english dubbed Anime! I ADORE him as he is just sooooo cute!! Most things Disney I collect is of him, including pins. I don't cry at the first one, but I do at the 2nd one (Stitch has a Glitch)! And at Paris, he definitely gives the best character interaction!!

I really don't get Stitch at all! My brother is a big stitch fan and collector though..

However, I really enjoyed Stitch Live at Disneyland Paris when I went in December. Very original!

If I may ask, where did you see the english dubbed version? I know Disney had season 1 translated and dubbed, but it hasn't yet made it to air here in the US sadly

(I say season 1 since a 2nd season has aired in Japan already)

+1! He is really cute and has elements that appeal to people with pets especially. Big eyes, big floppy ears, really cute, can get into trouble quickly and easily, etc. My wife and I are drawn to many of the Stitch pins because they remind us so much of our small chocolate lab, Molly. She's a real pill as well. We'll look at a pin of Stitch being 'bad' and we both say, "oh my god, that's Molly! We have to get that pin!".
